Val, do you have the link to the Aussie rules page please?

Hi Dean, Glad my message reached you and glad to have you back. Not sure what you mean by "Aussie rules page". If it's the official AFL website, that's at
The 2020 fixture (round by round) is at
and there's a .pdf page of the whole season at a glance at

That's that decided then. I've changed my charity to

Two of my library friends have lost their husbands to severe dementia in the past couple of years.

And i'll stick with me current charity for the time being too, thanks Val.
I do hope our lovely Suzy makes an appearance too....it's been too long, but i hope she's okay.

Can't remember who came top last season but I'm sure Tech will remind me :)
Same charity and team please Val

"The AFL executive and working party teams met for four hours Friday morning, and again for a similar amount of time Friday afternoon to work through all scenarios pertaining to the AFL season.
As it met in the morning, the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix was officially cancelled, and Cricket Australia decided to ban spectator attendance at Friday's one-day international between Australia and New Zealand at the SCG.
The no-crowd scenario became official when, 90 minutes after the AFL's executive meeting had finished, the Council Of Australian Government (COAG) chief medical officers convened for two hours to determine that mass gatherings of 500 people or more be cancelled."
Apparently the virus is very compliant and has agreed to hold off contaminating Aussies until Monday - that's when the 500+ ban comes into place. The National Rugby League will go ahead with the 5 games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday but Round 2 will be in closed stadiums. I have listened to all the best advice available (from the scientists and medicos, not the politicians) and have decided to forfeit my tickets to a play tomorrow. It's just not worth it. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival (640 events) has been cancelled, so that's another couple of shows I'll be getting my money back on. AND, I won't have to babysit on Friday night (while my daughter & husband went to the footy) but I will have to travel over there by train on Thursday to babysit while she's at work. Hopefully the trains will be empty - but I doubt it.

Thanks Val...here's to the start of the new season...er...hopefully!

Interestingly, a former Eagles player has come out and said that playing in an empty stadium will redress the balance of umpires giving the Eagles a bit of a free ride because of the enormous crowd response. What the rest of us have been saying for years!

Not MIA, Val - just distracted by dinner :)

Richmond Tigers (Philip) v Carlton Blues (RedJohn)
7.2.44 (Q1) 2.1.13
11.3.69 (Q2) 3.5.23
14.5.89 (Q3) 8.7.55
16.9.105 (Q3) 12.9.81
It was a rather uninspiring game - no atmosphere and the Tigers were dominant from the bounce. Hope the remaining games are more exciting. Perhaps I just need to get used to the empty stadiums.
Tech is our first up winner - Tigers by 23. $6.00 goes to Oscar's Law. Well done!!

Western Bulldogs (Blastro) v Collingwood Magpies (tech)
1.0.6 (Q1) 5.2.32
4.0.24 (Q2) 8.6.54
5.2.32 (Q3) 10.7.67
5.4.34 (Q4) 13.8.86
Still no atmosphere. The score flatters the Dogs.

Essendon Bombers (Val) v Fremantle Dockers (unwanted)
5.2.32 (Q1) 2.1.13
7.5.47 (Q2) 3.3.21
8.8.56 (Q3) 4.6.30
9.9.63 (Q4) 8.9.57
Adelaide Crows (Dean) v Sydney Swans (Anita)
6.0.36 (Q1) 3.0.18
7.1.43 (Q2) 8.3.51
9.2.56 (Q3) 11.4.70

Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke) v Geelong Cats (unwanted)
5.0.30 (Q1) 4.2.26
9.1.55 (Q2) 6.6.42
13.3.81 (Q3) 8.7.55
17.3.105 (Q4) 11.7.73
Gold Coast Suns (Suzy) v Port Adelaide Power (Grizzly)
1.1.7 (Q1) 4.2.26
3.2.20 (Q2) 9.6.60
4.5.29 (Q3) 9.9.63
4.5.29 (Q4) 10.16.76
The two games this afternoon proved quite exciting. Essendon got off to a flyer but couldn't seem to shake Freo off for the rest of the day. They led by 26 points for most of the game but Freo came home with a wet sail (I've never really understood that expression) and it was nip and tuck until the final whistle.
Likewise Adelaide started really well and looked likely winners but the Swans fought back to take a good lead. And just when you thought it was all over, Adelaide came back and Tex Walker had the chance of a last minute goal to take the lead, but it went behind for a point.
I didn't see either of tonight's games. It looks like the Giants were deadly accurate, but don't write off Geelong just yet. Whereto the Suns? That scoreline looks awful.
Well done Nick - 6 from 6 going into tomorrow.
