I did mean to ask a more general question: what's the rules on nominating artists for the favourites artists votes? I had a look through the list and sneaked in Josh Ritter shortly after I joined - I assume that anybody can nominate whenever, but I suppose it's the respectful to step back an let others nominate once you've added one? If not I'll just add about 20 if you want!

Hi Rob...well I take it you've seen the very long list of artists/bands that have been nominated since FA started, just a little over 6 years ago. Like with Themes, it's one nomination per 'group round'. As for when you can nom in a new group, I don't think there is any hard and fast rule on that...so I guess you could be the last nominator in one group round and then the first on the next one! But i'm sure somebody will provide clarification on that.

Anyway...your comment Rob, got me thinking, I was wondering how many noms there were left for the current round of FA..so after some digging around, I finally found the thread with the latest nominations. So far, it's up to track 350..which is the Josh Ritter nom you submitted, Rob. There have been 17 nominations for GR14, so there could still be one or two others to come yet, however best check with Spacepig. Spacepig will, in good time, announce when he's going to open up a new group round.

It's actually surprising how many tracks have got expletives in that you wouldn't immediately think of. I know of two Joni Mitchell tracks which drop the F-bomb.

Well, when we did it as theme 24 a long, long time ago I specified
states or cities. No reason why we shouldn't do it again though with just states. It's not like there's a shortage of qualifying songs to nominate from:-)

171. 'The Nurse With Wound List'. On the first two Nurse albums appeared this list of artists, said to have been influences on the group (as it was in the beginning). Mr Stapleton later claimed some didn't even exist, but research seems to suggest all in fact, did. is where to go; click on 'artists' then on 'named' which contains all those on the list. The albums included are merely suggested. You don't have to stick with them; anything by that artist is ok. Nothing from the 'Related' or 'More' sections please. There should be plenty of bands known to all but the most sheltered of souls! You will get kudos points for the weirder side of things though.

I was meaning States; as Derek says, there's a lot to choose from. But we can all be friends here and if anybody wants to use a city, I don't mind.
