Up from Slavery hooked me from the first chapter. However this is no way a literary masterpiece. I lost interest in some parts of the book, but the first few chapters are a page turner.
So I don't know if this counts.

soph.connects.the.dots | 83 comments The Book of Three, when I was a kid. Nowadays, The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes? Or All Fall Down by Ally Carter? For whatever reason, it takes me a couple chapters to truly get into books (usually) that are my absolute favorites. Even Harry Potter took me a minute. It's the initial shock of reading a story that's different than the one you read previously, it takes me a second to "submerge" into the story.

Lexi C. (lc0617) | 45 comments I'm not sure I have a book that I was hooked on just based on the first chapter.
The one book that I can say got me hooked is a book I have not been able to finish. I had to return it to the library before I was done :(
And that book is RoseBlood.
RoseBlood by A.G. Howard
