Adriana Tell us what you're reading today or planning to read.

For YA I'm reading Glitch where the world lives underground and feelings are controlled by... chips in their brains. They feel no emotion unless you Glitch like the heroine.
For MG: Nothing yet but I'm getting a couple of books from the library soon!

message 2: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (krinak) For YA I am reading Soul Screamers Vol. 1 : My Soul to Lose • My Soul to Take • My Soul to Save I haven't started yet, but I'll let you know how it turns out!
For MG, I haven't gotten anything yet, but I will soon!

Oh that's right! Your kids got the first day of school off. They must have been happy about that. Thanks for joining Sara (:

message 5: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm reading Around the World by Matt Phelan. He illustrated The Higher Power of Lucky, winner of the 2007 Newbery Medal, as well as its sequel, Lucky Breaks. Matt Phelan was also the author and illustrator of The Storm in the Barn, which won the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction.

message 6: by Lesli (new)

Lesli Nelson (lesliann45) | 6 comments I am reading a Juvenile book, The Iron Thorn,

The Iron Thorn (Iron Codex, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge

message 7: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (krinak) Changed my mind, no longer feel like reading the book I previously posted, I am going to start The Golden Lily :D

I love Matt Phelan's illustrations. I know about his book The Storm in the Barn when I came across his blog a few years ago. You know that there is a play based on it?

Adriana Kristina wrote: "Changed my mind, no longer feel like reading the book I previously posted, I am going to start The Golden Lily :D"

Haha (:
That happens. Is Bloodlines a continuation of Vampire Academy or is it separate?

Bloodlines is just a spin off series about Sydney and Adrian. It has all of the characters in it though. Mostly talks about alchemists.

message 11: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh! I'm on the third book of the Vampire Academy so I think I know what happens now love wise.. maybe.

message 12: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I just finished Glitch today and really liked it but I'm not so sure about the love part. I know it wasn't instalove but it was still kind of fast. Other than that it was awesome.

I'll probably be reading the sequel to Dairy Queen for YA which is: The Off Season

message 13: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Never mind! I'm reading for YA Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac.

message 14: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh yeah. The first book is Anna Dressed in Blood right? What is that about?

message 15: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Would have never expected it was about a boy. By blood I thought she was a vampire or something. Way more interesting than I thought. (:

message 16: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Ugh. I have been not feeling so well plus school and spending some time with my gorgeous mama. So I haven't read that much but now I'm reading four books at one time!

Night Circus for my at home book club, Stupid Fast
(I'm half way through!) for the tbr challenge, The Golden Compass for this readalong I'm doing for my blog (hosted by someone else), and A Month of Sundays that I just started and I know I will devour!

message 17: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) If you end up liking A Month of Sundays, I think you'll probably also like Belle Prater's Boy, Ruth White's 1997 Newbery Honor book. I noticed that it's already on your to-read list.

message 18: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Thanks for the tip (;

I recently reviewed a book for an indie writer called Our Blissful Bayou Beginnings and I really enjoyed it (:
Now off to finish A Month of Sundays!

message 19: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Chick lit is awesome! But I get it if you were expecting a romance/suspense book/

message 20: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) On the list for me today: finishing The Perks of Being a Wallflower, hopefully continuing with Cinder. Perhaps I'll start Gone Girl if I finish Perks before it gets too late tonight.

@Sara, haha - I get that way sometimes! Pick up your favorite author's latest book. Then you'll be back on track!! ;)

message 21: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm currently reading Specials by Scott Westerfeld. I'm interested in seeing how it compares to the first two books of the "trilogy", Uglies and Pretties.

message 22: by Adriana (new)

lol. Love triangles are awesome if done right. I can't help but love chick lit. I love mushy romances and I love really girly books sometimes.

Adriana Josiah wrote: "I'm currently reading Specials by Scott Westerfeld. I'm interested in seeing how it compares to the first two books of the "trilogy", Uglies and Pretties."

There's another one you know!
Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld

message 24: by Adriana (new)

Adriana So many exams and I got an essay this week. I'll try to read Stupid Fast. I have to got to the library soon too. I've got like 8 books waiting for me. My dad will not be amused.

message 25: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Adriana wrote: "There's another one you know!"

Actually, there are another two! When I finish Specials and Extras, I'll still have Bogus to Bubbly: An Insider's Guide to the World of Uglies to read. I'm interested in seeing what that one will be like.

message 26: by Cherry Maple (new)

Cherry Maple Keys to the Demon Prison (Fablehaven, #5) by Brandon Mull

This book is awesome so far.

Welcome Amber (:
I have not I admit read any of that series. It's around everywhere so I really should... How many books are there?

message 29: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Sarajayne wrote: "Just got finished with Deadly Little Secret (Touch, #1) by Laurie Faria Stolarz and liked it, but it's one of those books that should have been a single and not a start to a series (like Twilight lol). I gave it a 4 star ..."

I read that one and really liked it but when I read the next one.... I mean how many times are you going to get kidnapped in this series? Plus the guys ability... it's so creepy. *shudders*

I did this thing for school - Reading Plus where it helps you with your speed and your comprehension. The highest level is M which is college level. Guess what level I got?.........C! What is that! I kind of wasn't paying attention in the first two things with what I was reading because I blanked... Oh well. I'm pretty excited to do this and get really fast in my reading. I want to be able to read books in not time. I'd be able to read so many. It would be amazing :D

message 30: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Adriana wrote: "huh. I didn't know about that one. I don't read guides anyways..."

I don't think that this is a typical guide, though. Oftentimes official companions and guides aren't written by the author, but as far as I can tell, Scott Westerfeld actually wrote this book. I'll have to look into it to confirm that for sure.

message 31: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm reading The Slave Dancer by Paula Fox now. I know that she's a fine writer and The Slave Dancer is her most famous book, so this could be quite a memorable experience.

message 32: by Courtney (new)

Courtney James (courtxxx) | 11 comments I just finished The Forever Contract. The Forever Contract (A Dystopian YA Novella) by Avery Sawyer I really liked it a lot! Really good ya.

for mg I just read Storybound Storybound (Storybound #1) by Marissa Burt . Soo good! I'm about to start The Realm of the Lost The Realm of the Lost by Emma Eden Ramos . xox

message 33: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Welcome Courtney (:
Ooh! That The Forever Contract does not look suitable for grade 8 based on the cover... It sounds like a movie that came out with Bruce Willis.
Hmm... I've never seen Storybound. I will have to check it out.

message 34: by Courtney (last edited Sep 16, 2012 10:32AM) (new)

Courtney James (courtxxx) | 11 comments I really liked The Forever Contract. It's more like New Adult than YA. It's short but pretty awesome.
Storybound is AMAZING!
I'm reading The Realm of the Lost The Realm of the Lost by Emma Eden Ramos and Letters to Elise . Letters to Elise A Peter Townsend Novella (My Blood Approves, #4.5) by Amanda Hocking

message 35: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I see you like novellas. What are novellas anyway?

message 36: by Courtney (new)

Courtney James (courtxxx) | 11 comments Shorter novels. My mother actually writes short stories, novelettes and novellas. She had me reading them when I was young. I really prefer novellas to short stories because you get to know the characters better. Its hard to care too much about the characters in short stories. when I was a kid The Golden Key was my fave book. it's a novella The Golden Key

message 37: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Interesting thanks!

message 38: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I've started reading Cadmus Henry by Walter D. Edmonds. The book wasn't even in the 카지노싸이트 system, so I had to manually add it and enter all of its information, including reproducing word-for-word the description on the dust jacket. The Newbery Medal that Walter D. Edmonds won in 1942 for The Matchlock Gun is what first interested me in this book.

message 39: by Adriana (new)

Adriana How do you manually add a book?
What is Under the Never Sky about? Aliens? I really don't know...

I'm more than half way through Pretty Crooked. God it's good!

message 40: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm not sure if one can manually add a book unless one is a 카지노싸이트 librarian. Since I am one, every time I look for a book here on 카지노싸이트 that doesn't appear to be in the system, there's an option for me to manually add it to the site.

message 41: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh a goodreads librarian! How do you become one?

I love when there are more than 1 POVs. I would have never guessed what it's about.

message 42: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Adriana wrote: "Oh a goodreads librarian! How do you become one?"

It's been a while since I first became one, so I can't remember exactly where I found the application here on the site. It's a short form, and I think that they approve most serious applications for the position fairly quickly. Being a librarian on 카지노싸이트 can be a major convenience.

message 43: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm currently reading Triss by Brian Jacques. I've been a fan of the Redwall series for most of my life, and this is the first time that I've read Triss. I wish that I could have met Brian Jacques before he passed away in early 2011. He's a fantasy author nonpareil.

message 44: by Kristina (last edited Sep 20, 2012 07:21AM) (new)

Kristina (krinak) Started Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant yesterday! Seems... different. Everyone has said they enjoyed it, though.

message 45: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Sarajayne wrote: "Starting Lockdown (Escape From Furnace, #1) by Alexander Gordon Smith this morning."

The Escape from Furnace series has become one of my favorites. I had never even heard of Alexander Gordon Smith before I read Lockdown, but I've learned in the months since then that he is a very, very good writer.

message 46: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Ooh! Gone is on my tbr list. Let me know if it's any good.

I still haven't read Lockdown. I need to be in the mood for it.

message 48: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I'm reading:
Fairest by Gail Carson Levine Sign Language by Amy Ackley

message 49: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I'm reading First Light by Rebecca Stead. It's been slow going and probably will be for the next couple of days, though, because I have a couple of reviews to write and polish and I'm going to be meeting two Newbery Medalists in the next two days! I'll see Sharon Creech Sunday afternoon and Patricia MacLachlan on Monday night. In honor of Patricia MacLachlan's visit, I just finished reading Grandfather's Dance, the final book of the Sarah, Plain and Tall odyssey, on Friday night.

Cool. I actually want to read Half-Blood. Was it any good. I admittedly already read two books I wasn't supposed to. One for a ghost book and the other is the middle grade book. Loved them both :D
