Ellie was invited to be a second judge for the Key Lime Pie Contest at Sunset Palms Beach Resort in Florida where she was staying with her Aunt Olive. The celebrity judge was well-known but not necessarily liked, and the second award would be a surprise to the contestants. But when the judge had tasted each of the pies, not once but twice, and was about to announce the winner, he collapsed onto the pie table, dead when the resort doctor arrived. The police were determined the resort's Chef was the killer, so the manager asked Ellie to keep an eye out, listening in to the guests chatting. Would she discover who killed the celebrity judge?

Seashells & Murder is the 2nd in the Barefoot Sleuth series by Aussie author H.Y. Hanna, and I quite enjoyed it. I loved - once again - Hemingway (the parrot) and Mojito (the cat) and their constant presence among the resort guests. Hemingway was a mimic and very mischievous, while Mojito snuck into places he wasn't supposed to go. A delightful setting - the only way I'll get to Florida - Seashells & Murder is one I recommend. Looking forward to #3!
