It was fine. Humorous? Yes. I've seen Matteo on a couple of stand-up shows here and there so I recognized him and why I chose it from NetGalley. Repetitive? Heck yes. It's just so repetitive. I don't think there needs to be a pasta-only cookbook. Because they're all slight variations of the same thing. So aside from the braciole, meatballs, and ricotta recipes it's same same SAME. So I was pretty bored. The photos are nice and Matteo's anecdotes were delightful but he did not need to make a cookbook. It should've just been a memoir and hey, throw a couple recipes in that....more

I've cooked a handful of recipes so far, I've owned the book for over a year, but I finally sat down with it, read it cover-to-cover, and tabbed the other recipes I want to create. I will update as I make and I will update soon with what I've already made....more

Like actually reading through each anecdote, all the ingredients, every step of every recipe. I discovered Julia Turshen last year from someone I follow on Instagram. I tabbed up this cookbook like mad. I've owned it for about a year and have made several dishes from it. I'll be going through and making more, I like to cook my way through each cookbook (based on my tabs, not every single recipe) and I will try to remember to keep updating this review!
Update 2/21/23: I have lowered my rating to 4 stars. I don't like that there are no total times on recipes, you have to read through and add it all up. Makes it harder. Lack of photos as well. And I'm nearing the end of what I was interested in cooking and it's about a quarter of the recipes. Also portions are large. Serves 4 is more like serves 6! We are only 2!
I've made: Stewed Chicken with Sour Cream & Chive Dumplings. Delicious. A good Sunday meal. Jody's French Lentil & Kale Stew I added spicy Italian sausage to this. Not my favorite but not bad. Kitchen Sink Frittata. Not my favorite but not bad. Sesame Rice Bowls with Tofu, Quickles, & Peanut Sauce SO GOOD!! And easy (for me). A definite repeat. Sizzle Burgers over Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes with Matchstick Carrot Salad. I used ground turkey. Very good. A definite repeat. Arayes with Yogurt Sauce. Didn't buy lean ground beef so this was greasy and sogged up the pita. Also didn't grill it, went with the cast iron skillet option and that didn't cook the meat before the pita darkened so I put them in the oven and that made the pita soggy. Next time I will make the meat beforehand and drain it, then fill the pita and broil them. Taste was good!! Ratatouille & Ricotta Pasta Bake. I halved most everything because we're only 2 people. Low on the eggplant, low on the cherry tomatoes as we don't really like both too much (cooked tomatoes blech) but I did not halve the ricotta so this was nice and cheesy and creamy! Yum! But I probably won't make it again anytime soon. Carrot & Chickpea Korma. Who needs meat? Who needs dairy? This was delicious!! I added frozen peas and ACCIDENTALLY added chili pepper paste (TWO TABLESPOONS) instead of tomato paste! ...more

I haven't obtained The Little Library Cookbook but after reading this one, it's on my list. I loved the coziness of this cookbook. I tagged a bunch of recipes to try, including some gifting ideas for next Christmas. I read this cookbook cover-to-cover, I like to do this the first go-round and then go back to the recipes I'm interested in trying....more

I listened to the audiobook and also reserved the hardcover from the library so I can peruse the recipes and photos because unfortunately this audiobook doesn't come with a downloadable PDF. I'm picking the book up today so I'm excited to go through it again because there are probably 15+ recipes in addition to the memoir. I *had* to listen to the audiobook, I love Stanley Tucci's voice! This was a very enjoyable memoir and cookbook and I hope to make some of the cocktails and entrees in the future. I also bought The Tucci Cookbook recently and have made two recipes so far!...more

Well wortI've never thought to or wanted to count a cookbook as a book read on GR but I am literally read every single page in this amazing cookbook. Well worth the actual read. Chrissy comes through on every page! I took my time and read through each recipe. Her little paragraphs at the beginning of each recipe are just classic Teigen. lol.
Last night I made Perfect Seared Scallops with Warm Corn Salad and Sour Cream and Broccoli Potato Cakes. It all took a bit longer than I had anticipated and the broccoli needed more time to cook to become mashable so I ended up throwing it, along with the potatoes and sour cream (and other ingredients for the cakes) into my Nutribullet for a quick mix. Worked well. I did not have the frozen corn I thought I did (I ALWAYS have frozen corn...grr!) so it was a warm pea salad. lol. Luckily we both like peas. But all in all, very delicious! The scallops were the shining star.
Tonight's menu will be Rotochick Chicken Noodle Soup!...more
