–OVERVIEW–
well, i’m destroyed now, so let’s unpack.
*excuse my french throughout this review*
what the actual fuck.
if you know me, i don’t curse. but this deserved a curse.
this is very easily one of the best books i have ever read in my entire life, and i read a crap ton.
the hype behind this book is real and fully deserving. i was broken in every sense of the word. i cried so much while reading this book my eyes stung the entire time it took me to read and even days after i finished i was still crying.
i am not over this book and i never will be
if you’re someone who can handle the trigger warnings you need to read this book. i don’t want to hear any excuses. run. don’t walk.
-the writing-
cinematic 4d movie in my head. r.f. kuang somehow managed to handle these deep dark inflections of human experience so tastefully, while shedding light on the disturbing nature of humans and or will to live. her writing is beautiful.
what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water?
