Story is easy to follow. The book itself is very short. Michael travels around Europe seeking out his targets. These are bad men, men of a position that has allowed them to escape legal punishment for war crimes commited in WW2. This has resulted in them having fled to various locations. Michael must put together and gather clues to put these men underground. Puzo's language and also ability to build up suspense were particularly outstanding....more

On her demand Lola does and as a result flee's the country to live abroad. She nver gets over him and returns to the UK settling into a good job etc. But what is to happen when she comes across her old flame again? If your wanting a chic lit and an easy read this is certainly one for you. A good story that keeps your interest, I sometimes find books in this genre quite boring. Also, unlike other books in this genre it is well written. Mansell has very rich and loveable characters whose stories you get lost in and even start caring about. It follows her life, trials and tribulations with love, friendship, war and poverty. . She begins her life as an orphan and then becomes one of Germany's most loved stars. She works on the burlesque scene and finds fame. It is an absorbing read full of rich characters, ones that you get to know very well. It is a rollercoaster of an age and industry to be part of and this is highlighted in the book. Lily experiences dramatic highs and lows, both in her personal life as well as due to the turmoil within her country. It is a colourful evocative tale, has definitely encouraged me to seek other novels written by this author. ...more
