“You don't love someone because they're a dream of perfection. You love them because of the way they meet their challenges, how they struggle to overcome. You love them because together, you bring out the best in each other.”

“Yes, I’m Daniel Tahi." I know what your lips taste like.I know you roll your eyes when you think someone is an idiot. I know that you wish you were six inches shorter because you hate being taller than most of the boys you've ever met. Your name is tattooed across my chest and written on my heart. You are a fire daughter of earth, fanua afi and I am vasa loloa, son of the ocean. I am yours...And you can’t even remember who I am.”

“His fingers painted my skin with ruby red patterns of desire. In Keahi’s kiss I could taste the red burn of chili encrusted in the rich sweetness of melted chocolate. I breathed in his scent and it spoke to me of vanilla. The ink of my malu tattoo began to burn, searing markings of fiery joy.”

“Excuse me? You're the one who was out to mislead me with your alluring bimbo slinkiness! What if I had believed your act last night? What if I had fallen deeply and madly in love with you? You would have had the blood of my love-sickness on your hands, Leila Folger.”

I'm so excited to be reunited with the characters. Gotta go, I just put the book down so I could send you a quick post. So far I'm LOVING it!

Im thrilled that you enjoyed the Telesa read. The second book, When Water Burns - is out later this week and I hope it doesnt disappoint. Thank you for checking out my Pacific stories!

Thank you so much for checking out TELESA, Jasmine. Im always particularly thrilled when a "western" / non-Samoan reader enjoys my book because i do worry that the emphasis on the setting of Samoa will make the story difficult for western readers to relate to. The Pacific cultures do have a lot of rich mythology which make for great 're-interpreting' and storytelling! I hope you daughter enjoys the read as well.

Looking forward to sharing books with you!
Melissa
