Stephanie Alexandria With absolutely no disrespect to Jeremy Brett (whose interpretation of Sherlock Holmes brought the character off the pages of Sir Conan Doyle's novels and deeper into our hearts), Mr. Cumberbatch does the character a far greater justice.

Sadly, Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories are not seen as the greatest literary works of all time. Many historians find the works to be rather poorly written. I whole-heartedly disagree; I believe that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was merely born too early. In the historical period in which his works were written, I believe that it may have been very difficult for the reader to give creative life to a man who seemed so out of place and unreal. A reader that is unattached, feels let down and therefore is left to blame the writing style of the author.

Benedict Cumberbatch breathes realism and life into a character that could sometimes be described as ridiculous and too remarkable. Mr. Cumberbatch makes Sherlock a lovable hero; even for the introverted personality of the stand-offish detective.

It is emotions we see in ourselves that we can now see in Sherlock thanks to the interpretation of Cumberbatch. My enjoyment of the BBC's Sherlock tells me that the man Sir Conan Doyle hoped to find in his character was born many, many years too late.

Cheers, Benedict. Keep the game afoot!
