Neko For members who ARE Librarians, and for those who are just CURIOUS.

If you're interested in what's involved with becoming a librarian, follow this link: http://www.africa-eu.com/about/apply_...

For any of you who would like a little help with a book in your collection which mightn't look quite right...eg, incorrect page numbers, incorrect cover, post a link with a query, we'll do our best to help out.

And for librarians to help each other out as well!

Hey, great thread Laura!

message 3: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79542 comments Mod
No, just the total of the actual story, as far as I know Michael...that's what I enter anyway!

message 4: by Neko (new)

Neko I've never included them in a page count before. I do remember once wondering if you included all the extra stuff at the end of the book like - previews for next book, dictionaries, index and such.

I'm still unsure on all of that so I don't include it.

OK Michael, I've created it, but the ISBN seems to match another book/diff author, so I'll continue to check it out...

Laura wrote: "I've never included them in a page count before. I do remember once wondering if you included all the extra stuff at the end of the book like - previews for next book, dictionaries, index and such...."

I'm 99.99% sure it's only the story..

message 16: by Neko (new)

Neko I don't know if the lib manual includes that? Now I'm curious to find out but I'm sure you're right..Would make more sense.

message 17: by Neko (new)

Neko Maaannnn these tintin books by Michael Farr are really doing my head in. There are some indonesian versions of the books so i went to add the english versions instead after realising I'd "reviewed" them which isn't correct.

I get to the isbn and it's saying it's the same and won't allow me to progress any further. I know ISBNs are meant to be for each book but I thought different language versions would have seperate ISBNs...Or am I wrong?

And what should I do :s

I've more or less asked the same questions in the Lib group as well but just putting this out here as well :)

message 18: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79542 comments Mod
I'm not sure Laura...I'm glad you asked the same question in the Lib group...I think ISBN's got a bit muddled with the imports for the diff languages, so hopefully someone with more knowledge that myself can help you...sorry!

JB Rowley (jbrowley) Hello librarians,

I thought some of you might be interested in a blog I wrote about why I envy librarians. (My first library was the local rubbish tip.)

(I am new here - I hope it is okay to do this.)

JB, that is a fantastic article written by you....so interesting. We have another thread which you might like to put it into, as I believe lots of others would love to read about your 'beginnings' with books too:) http://www.africa-eu.com/topic/show/5...

Thanks so much for sharing it with us all!

I'm a librarian. As yet I haven't done much, but I'd like to update old profiles of some of my favourite authors (1600--1800's). At least I plan to as soon as I find the time.

It's nice to have all the books showing the correct details

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, that's why I applied. However I intend to step carefully when adding information or images. I have a GR friend who I can ask and I'm also with the GR librarians group.

(I'm also with the GR moderators group, as I co-moderate two groups on GR).

What groups do are you moderator for? I'm currently moderator for Literary Exploration and Pulp Fiction, I love Aussie reads because I can chat about books but I don't have to read the books but I love my groups :D
