So - I am the snail here, as I only got in one book last month, but this month I have a number of books slated for this month.

Luann - I used The Count of Monte Cristo for a 5 point task for the Spring Challenge in the Seasonal Challenge Group, lol.

Natasha - No one says you need to read long books. We all read what we can and want, and let the chips fall where they may.

Sometimes I think Classic and very long go hand in hand.

Katey (kateyyy) | 50 comments haha i'm leaving my least favourite shelves till last too
although most of the books i've chosen I can't wait to read

Sunflower | 174 comments I am also leaving the shelves I can't find books for till last. Hoping for some inspiration- so many of the choices are no's 2 or more in a series, and I'm OCD just enough to have to start at the beginning of a series!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
Sunflower - I know, I am the same way! Well, I at least got two read this month. Hopefully next month will be better. I am hoping to read maybe 10 total?

message 56: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Sunflower, I am the same way. The worst is when you find a book in the store at the bargain table and it sounds so interesting, and then you get home and discover it's 3rd in the series when you add it to 카지노싸이트. I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me, so then I have to add the rest of the series to my wish list.

message 57: by Blarneygod (new)

Blarneygod | 221 comments Slayermel... Yes this is especially difficult with 카지노싸이트 Fiction and Fantasy novels! I wish they would clearly print on the spines what number it is in a series and what series it is from!

message 58: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Seriously, I have often wondered why they don't put a small number on the spine. I have seen them do it, "The sleeping Beauty Series" by Anne Rice is numbered, as are several children's series. It only makes sense. :0)

Plus I think from a business standpoint it would be smarter too, as if I had known the book I found in the bargain area was third and it was interesting enough to want to buy, I would have gone back to buy one and two in the series right away so I could begin reading. :0P

Oh, wow, I couldn't handle that! I tried to knock off some of my least favorite at the beginning, with the ones I really wanted to read as sort of prizes to spur me on.

message 64: by Katey (new)

Katey (kateyyy) | 50 comments Ughhh I feel like i'm so behind but all of these books that i've been dying to read have come out all in a matter of a couple of weeks apart lol I can't resist!

message 65: by Tara (last edited Jun 10, 2010 04:08AM) (new)

Tara | 742 comments I know how you feel Katey! Books I have been waiting for at the library are coming in and so I have to read them and so it has been a slow process marking off shelves.

Congrats to everyone who is close! Great reading!

message 66: by Katey (new)

Katey (kateyyy) | 50 comments That's the same with me. Then I had to race out and buy hourglass and dead in the family soo many books to read so little time

message 67: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenofthebookworm) If I could keep out of the library I might manage to read some more of the books that I've picked for this challenge but I find it really difficult to just walk past when I get off the bus.

message 68: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 234 comments We maintain this polite fiction that I reserve books from the library mainly to give my husband a reason to take a healthy walk! Today he returned two books during his healthy walk, and came back with two more. It is a healthy walk - almost two miles roundtrip - and he does his 'reading' on his walk, audiobook style.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
That sounds great, BJ Rose. I always tell myself that I am not going to pick up any extras, but it never holds. I'll be lucky if I even get three or four of the books on my list read.

The only way I avoid falling into that trap is that our library has a drive-up window. I haven't actually been inside the library in years. I select my books on-line, then pick them up when they're ready. Of course, a typical stop by on the way after school is likely to be returning 6-8 and picking up 6-8. But at least they're only the ones I'd planned to get. (:>)

Wow, that's ingenious. I wish our Library had that option. The parking and Layout are horrible that's why I hardly ever go.

What a brilliant idea, wish my library had that then I would only get the books that I had reserved online and maybe then I'd be able to put a dent in the tbr pile

Tara | 742 comments This is an odd question... But I remember Howl's Moving Castle being on one of our shelves. I looked through the shelves and it appears to be added, but I can't figure out which shelf it was on. Anyone know?

Congrats, Natasha! I'm two behind you, but it'll be a few days yet. I'm in the middle of The 19th Wife now, which is long but SO worth it. And I'm having trouble settling on a book from the Travel shelf. I thought I'd read Fried Eggs with Chopsticks, but too many reviews said she was so disparaging and I didn't want that.

message 87: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) | 1017 comments Go Karen & Susan! Just 2 books to go! And Tina is just 5 books away! I'm still planning to get there before July 10, but it will be close!

message 88: by Tina (last edited Jun 24, 2010 10:43PM) (new)

Tina Finished!!!! (Whew! Wipes brow, collapses on couch, rubs eyes, and musters up the energy to type this post.)

Now maybe I can stop burning the midnight oil trying to read all these books ;) Who am I kidding? I'll probably always stay up late reading!

**I was actually 3.5 away when you posted your last update Luann, I just forgot to put up my date and rating!

message 89: by Crystal (new)

Crystal I am hoping I can do this. I had not intended to, but when I realized that I had inadvertently read 5 books off of the lists during the time frame, I decided to go ahead with it. So really I started on June 19th. Quite a late start so here I am at almost one o'clock in the morning finishing The Thirteenth Tale. Just loved it to pieces. I haven't read a gothic for a long time. It made me feel like I was in middle school all over again. That's when my gothic romance phase began. Anyway, I wrote a review, but don't know how to drop the link in. I will give it a shot. Peace out. http://www.africa-eu.com/book/show/40...

Congrats, both Tina & Karen!
I'm finished, too, and I have a question:
Slayermel wrote: "If you complete reading one book off of all shelves before July 10th you can read books that are listed on the original 카지노싸이트 shelves fitting the headings, and we will add those books to the Pick-a-shelf Bookshelf. (Please just make a note of this in your list)"

If we're reading more after the first 20, should we still try to do only one per additional shelf? Or, for things that are listed on more than one 카지노싸이트 shelf, name the one we think fits the book best? For example, if I read Gone, I'd probably call it Young Adult or 카지노싸이트 Fiction; but if I have others I want to read from those shelves, should I name Gone as Adventure instead (It's on all 3 카지노싸이트 shelves)? Or does that not matter after the first 20?

I absolutely love this challenge! I'm not stopping now.

Slayermel | 664 comments Susan wrote: "If we're reading more after the first 20, should we still try to do only one per additional shelf?"

First of all let me just say Congratulations to all of you who have finished, WOW!!!!

You no longer have a limit per shelf Susan, so I would say you pick the shelf you think it most suits. So if you read for example "The Thirteenth Tale" and it's listed as:
Mystery
Chick-Lit
Paranormal
And you feel its more mystery than anything else you could choose to put it on the mystery shelf. If you feel it's more Paranormal or chick-Lit you could choose that shelf instead. It is now in your hands.

I hope that answers your question.

message 98: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 234 comments Congratulations to the finishers! WOW!!!

My goal was to complete 12, but I still have 3 to go and vacation's coming up!

message 99: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) | 1017 comments Just two weeks left, for those who are still reading. I have six shelves still to complete. If I continue at my current reading pace, I should be able to finish by then.

message 100: by Sunflower (last edited Jun 27, 2010 03:25AM) (new)

Sunflower | 174 comments Still working on it - 3 books to go. Wishing I could read some of the books lying round that don't fit the challenge, but then I wouldn't finish the challenge in time. (my friends think I'm weird)
