Reposted. (I pasted in the book name instead of the task name when I posted before.)

Yes, it must be a typo, darn, I messed up so early in the season! I will repost.

Task 20.4 option 1 requires a word appearing in the title. Naughty Elf: Merry has the matching word appearing in the subtitle, not title.
Per the default rules, the first colon in a title is counted as the dividing point between title and subtitle.

There is no mention of excluding subtitles in the task.
I went to this Rules of the Challenge: Effective Spring 2024 for clarification.
5. Task Requirements- SRC practices and conventions are explained in the Default Rules and FAQs in the Rules folder.
>1. For tasks that require a word in a title, only the title and the subtitle may be used.
My interpretation of this is: Subtitles may be used for tasks that require a word in the title, unless otherwise noted. Like Task 20.5.
Is this wrong? Is it subtitles may not be used unless specifically allowed? If that is the case, I think that rule needs to be re-worded.
okay...and now I went to the default rules, which seems to contradict the information from Rules of the Challenge: Effective Spring 2024 .
I'll find a new book, but I would appreciate an explanation of why the rule I posted above doesn't apply.
Also, my totals will be off for posts 201-210 and 212-214.
Thanks for your help

Also...
In the guidelines for task creators it says
Things to think about as you are creating a task:
2. If your task deals with numbers, words, or other elements of a book's title, should players include subtitle as well? What about series titles? Reminder: The default, per Challenge rules, is that "title" includes title and subtitle but excludes series title unless specifically allowed.

Oh gosh, this is thorny. You're absolutely right, the rules do contradict each other. Let me have a chat with the other mods and we'll get this straightened out. Sorry for the confusion!
Edit: Default rules have been updated in line with the comprehensive rules and the task creator guidelines. Unless specified otherwise, subtitles are included by default for "word in the title" tasks.
If you repost in the claim thread, I'll get your points credited and also make a note that this issue doesn't affect your eligibility for the 20.9 draw next season.

Please note there will now be no Readerboard update until December 31st, as I'm away visiting family for Christmas and won't have access to the spreadsheet.
Wishing a very happy and joyful festive season to anyone who's celebrating, and if this is a difficult time of year for you then I hope you're able to find some peace and comfort.

Per the rules of the challenge, books between 80-99 pages may only be used for one 5 point task. Two books of poetry or two plays may be combined to reach the 100 page default minimum, otherwise books must meet the page count on their own.
At 96 pages, Sharks in the Rivers is not eligible for 10.9 on its own.

Oh for goodness sake, 카지노싸이트 isn't loading properly. I refreshed the book page five times earlier and it didn't show up once, now it's there. Aaaaaargh!
Right, no need to repost, I'll get that sorted.

No issues with the post, just confirming that the book doesn't need to be claimed as your one <100 page book. When checking page counts the top MMPB (or other relevant print edition) is what we use, regardless of language. In this case the German version is fine.

In re-reading task 30.8 I realize that my post #602 was incomplete: I should have included which author was new to me.
However, this task has been credited to me on the readerboard and didn't show up in this thread as having a problem.
Do you want me to re-post with the additional statement?

Huh. I don't actually know if there's precedent for handling this. Let me dig through the rules and chat with the other mods, then I'll get back to you on whether it needs re-posting. I'm leaning towards no since it was my mistake, but would like to be sure before confirming!
Edit: After consulting with the other mods, we're letting the awarded points stand since it was my error. No need to repost.
