Jane (PS) | 24301 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Baton (Captain) - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 3 October

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Jane (PS) | 24301 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For selection post Option 1 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please note which qualifying bookshelf/list you are using or the tags that justifies that it works.
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.

For selection post Option 2 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS

For the completion post you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post, particularly when the request is more than a day old. Its difficult to find older posts when going backwards in the threads.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4189 comments Hi All! I'm Sassafrass and I hail from right outside of Philadelphia, PA. I am a PtP addict and have played every round since the beginning! I'm super excited to play with you all. I work in medicine, am married for 24 years, and have two young adult children (18 yo -- in a month-- and 20 yo). I am counting down to being an empty-nester.

I'm not the best with team names but here are some other ideas.

Doughy Delights
The Muffin Tops
Dr. Dough-little
The Grateful Bread
Doughmestic Divas
Doughn't Worry...Be Happy

Sourdough requires a starter (I know because when I we moved I had to quickly join a local group and reach out and find someone who had a starter and would share with my daughter). I bet one of you creative ones could do something with STARTER as well

R~wka (r-wka) | 899 comments Hi team.

I've I played in this team challenge a few good times (I lost the count). What I like the most is that it motivates me to read various books. Because my reading list is big, sometimes it takes me a long time to decide which book to read. Ant that called theme is perfect.

Laura | 1148 comments I sent Cathy a message yesterday. I hope she's not in any hurricane affected areas.

As far as names go, if we don't hear from her with an opinion, it looks like we have multiple likes for Readers Dough it Better.

I do like LaurLa's Start Doughing, Keep Reading, but in the interests of not creating a tie I'm not going to change my list. :)

Looks like our start date is Friday, so we have a few days waiting.

I hope you're feeling better soon! In my experience, the worst part is how long you keep feeling tired after. I felt bad because I was so tired, and I didn't think I had a valid reason because I didn't otherwise feel sick anymore.

It's my understanding the latest variant is terrible in the throat. My daughter had it and felt like there were razor blades in her throat.

message 24: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 152 comments Thanks everyone! I'm starting to feel better now. This is the 1st time I've had Covid - i've been super careful, still wearing my mask everywhere. But last week when I was in LA for work, my office bldg is next to a mall so I spend a lot of time there, and after my flight, I didn't bother with one for the week and I think it bit me in the ass and I finally got it. I was not prepared. It did start with a sore throat for me, and then the fever, chills and body aches started. I didn't eat anything, just slept for 3 days, so I'm super weak right now. And still very tired. But at least I was able to get some food down tonight.

Looking thru the names, my vote is for Readers Dough it Better.

A lot of familiar names in the group, glad to be playing with all of you! And glad to be playing with some new teammates as well. This'll be fun!

LaurLa | 5067 comments Thanks, Laura. Also, FYI - I will be on vacation next week (leaving 10/6, returning 10/12). So I'll be around for the selection post but I may or may not be able get my book done by the next call. However, with this challenge, that's not a problem. I'll for sure have it by the following call.

I liked this one. It was not a romance like I usually read. It's a cop series with a black Texas Ranger as the protagonist. Darren is very flawed and his life isn't exactly going in the right direction but at his core, he has this drive to make his state better. I was rooting for him and look forward to going on this journey with him.

In this first story, he's gotten himself on the case of two murders in a small town one right after the other. A black man and a white woman. He's certain they are linked somehow, but as he's navigating the case, there are all these twists and turns. I thought I had it figured out and I did have some of it but man, it was more intertwined than I imagined.

I listened to this on audio and the male narrator who's new to me did a great job with all the voice. I will definitely continue it on audio whenever I continue.

Review:
So. Huh. This was my least favorite book in this series so far. Not to say there weren't some parts that I did enjoy, but I had issues.

I listened to the audiobook and there were so many times I was just lost on what was going on! The altering Interludes didn't help. And I guess I was expecting this installment to be more about the vampires, especially after how Soul Taken ended (which I did re-read not long ago in anticipation of this release). We did get Bonarata in small doses, but his stalking was a little lame. Where was Wulf and Stefan??

As with most mysteries, I don't mind getting crumbs along the way until it all comes together at the end. But I felt like this book was a little disjointed and so many unnecessary things added that did absolutely nothing for the overall plot (ie TOO MUCH filler).

I'm glad that there was some sort of resolution to the damage that Mercy suffered from the Soul Taker (thanks to the scheming Coyote). I just hope that this means that we'll get a kick-ass resolution for the Bonarata storyline with a much stronger Mercy. And please give me more Sherwood! That was the one Interlude I didn't mind.

Review: This is a re-read, so I knew who did it, but I kept thinking maybe my memory was wrong, because Penny does a great job of presenting viable suspects. I love the world of Three Pines, and it was special to go back to the beginning, knowing what lies in store for all these characters that I love.

I know I've seen Cathy's name when snooping in the Gift Exchange threads. I think Cathy might be in most of the same ones that we are.

But Silver Silence is on one of the lists. And Google reassures me that Moscow is in Europe like I thought, so I'll go with that for this week.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 152 comments Yea, I think most of us are doing pretty much the same ones :D Right now there's the Gift Exchange, Turf Wars, this one and Wheel at NBRC. I jumped right in to the the challenges after taking a semi-hiatus for 3 years!

Ok, let me see if I find something else. Might just pick the BOM for Wheels (The Road Trip) as that starts next week and is set in Scotland. I'm going thru the lists now just to see if anything else jumps out at me.

Will do Selection Post once I'm sure.
