I have come to enjoy these characters a lot, but the plot and pacing in this installment felt weaker. I had a lot of gripes but ended up giving it 3* overall.

I recently listened to A Court of Thorns and Roses and I thought the pacing was uneven and the characters weak and unlikable. I gave it 3 stars, but I plan to try the next book because I have heard it is better than the first.

I think most people (me included) like ACOMAF (#2) the best. I liked it but didn't love it. If you don't know yet... the story takes a massive shift in direction in #2.

Tiziana | 196 comments Historical mystery set in Elizabethan era.
Book #1 in a series , though readable as a standalone.

A Murder By Any Name A Murder By Any Name (An Elizabethan Spy Mystery #1) by Suzanne M. Wolfe by Suzanne M. Wolfe

(No bloody scenes and no sex scenes...so maybe I could have included it in the "cozy mystery" readings, but since the protagonist frequents a brothel and is known to sleep with the manager, I preferred to include the book in the non-cozy readings )

I enjoyed it very much, here is my 5 star review:
