Young Adult Urban Fantasy
Overall, this was an entertaining story with compelling characters, excellent world-building, and some unique differences in the magic system. It's a little slow in places and has lots of trigger warnings listed at the front of the book.

Solid Police Procedural, good characterization, somewhat slow at times in the first part of the novel.

Book goes from 1927 through 1945. Main characters are Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary Bethune (early civil right leader) and FDR. Interesting interaction between the 3 and a wonderful look back to history.

Finished The Beauties by Anton Chekhov, a collection of short stories read over the last couple weeks on my Kindle. As with any such collection, some were better than others.

Police Procedural / Crime Novel / hint of a romance
Overall, this was intriguing, entertaining, suspenseful, and had an action-packed ending with compelling characters that kept me turning the pages.

It's a YA fiction set in 1673 France at King Louis XIV court. The story was interesting but I admit I expected something more adventurous and exciting.
