There is the same Check Out - template - Check Out Seven which everybody needs to do. I will post the template here but it is also posted on the Check Out - Checkpoint Seven thread.

a) Please list the books completed if any and genres and how many pages in the book that you read during the readathon. Only pages read during the readathon itself count towards the readathon page total but the book when completed (if during the readathon) can count towards books completed. This is the tally thread for all of the checkpoint segments. Tally and list books and authors where you have read any pages.
b) Let us know the books you read or are reading - start and finish pages and genre.
You can read 10 books if you like - if you want to read them each a little bit at a time that is also allowed but you must let us know your start and end pages and all of the book details. Also tally them up here on the checkout thread.
c) How much time did you read total during the 24 hour readathon? This is the tally thread for all of your checkpoints in the readathon.
d) List all of the books completed over the total readathon - citations please - title and author.
e) Tally all of your pages read and how much total time did you read and how many pages
f) Let us know your timezone and location.
So here is an example:
a) Completed one book: The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott - Genre - Historical Fiction - read all 482 pages for readathon. Total time spend reading during the readathon was 7 hours or all 24 hours or 1 hour.
by
Paul Scott
Genre was historical fiction.
Metro NYC - Eastern Standard Time
or
b) Completed one book: The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott - Genre - Historical Fiction - read all 482 pages for readathon.
by
Paul Scott
Metro NYC - Eastern Standard Time
and started the next book
b) The Day of the Scorpion - Genre - Historical Fiction - read from 1 - page 200 - have not completed book yet.
by Paul Scott
or
b) The Day of the Scorpion - Genre - Historical Fiction - read from 1 - page 200 - have not completed book yet.
by Paul Scott
Note: In all of these instances - there are totals and stats being counted.
First we will make a list of books completed during the readathon even if the book had already been started before the readathon - if you finished the book finally during the readathon they count to that total, then second, we count the total number of pages read during the readathon, and then we count and list all of the different books started during the readathon, and finally the different genres read during the readathon and what these genres were with a count. And then your location and timezone.
We will also list all of the proud participants in each History Book Club Readathon.
Congrats.
FOLKS FROM THE PREVIOUS READATHON WE HAVE COME UP WITH THE SIMON TEMPLATE CREATED BY ONE OF OUR ADMINS - IT MAKES THINGS EASIER - JUST DO IT LIKE HE DID - HERE IS THE SAMPLE:
Here is what Simon did for his checkout and I think this is a pretty compact way of doing your tallies if you have not already done them. This is the MANDATORY CHECK OUT THREAD.
I replicated his post here:

The Check In One thread where you start is posted already - here is the link: /topic/show/...
This is where folks start and check in no sooner than 8AM - their location time - anywhere they are in the world on April 8th. That is why we need to know your city, province, state, country or city, province, country location and timezone. That is how we check and verify where you should be posting.

I'm having trouble finding how to set up my Readathon Shelves...
Have I just missed the link?
Thanks,
Debye
JOIN THE READATHON OFFICIAL LISTING:
All - before beginning make sure that you have first signed in to the Readathon itself and signed up.
Here is the link: /challenges/...
Scroll down to the bottom of the readathon text and make sure you have joined the Readathon and then at the bottom you will see how you can set up your shelf to document your readathon completion progress. You will set up the name for your shelf and indicate how many books you would like to complete during the Readathons.
Once you have joined the official Readathon list - you do not have to join that set up again because we carry over the previous list from year to year.
You can always update your shelf from year to year and change the number of books you want to complete and the name of the shelf for that year easily. You can always do updates and edits.
Of course, you have to sign up for the Readathon event but as far as your Readathon shelf - you will be set up.

Debye - the above link should help you - it is where the challenge is listed - you click on the title and it takes you to a screen where you see everybody signed up - you scroll to the bottom and you should see where to set up your shelf - make sure to save it. And put in how many books you would like to read during your readathons. You name your shelf and save it and it will be linked to the Readathons that way
Folks, there appears to be something wrong with the PM function - I just got 24 messages - many duplicates but some not - about 3 minutes ago that went back in terms of timestamp about 6 hours. No idea where they were but they did not come in real time.
I have been up with preparing for Readathon and had two windows open and no messages were showing.

Folks, I have set everything up and stayed up to help China, Hong Kong, Australia, Turkey but I have no idea what has caused the delay. All threads are up. Europe should be starting soon and I indicated on Check In One where they should post. The template samples are up too.
Since I have been up waiting with no notification otherwise - it is now 2:36 AM April 8th my time and I have been up since 6AM on April 7th. I am going to bed to get some sleep before the Readathon starts in NYC later on this morning.
Folks post your templates and I will be back later in the morning after 8AM or so and will help folks who sign in then.
Everything is open - all threads are open and ready for posting. It is up to you.

Remember to get credit for the readathon you have to have signed in and have completed the check in template for at least one of the checkins and posted it - 1,2,3,4,5,6 and you must have completed the mandatory check out template on CHECKPOINT 7 and posted it.
The check ins must be initiated and completed during real time and not after the fact. So make sure to go to the Check In that matches the time block you are actually reading in and matches the time and date in your location (April 8th and April 9th)
The ideal Readathon situation is to read and check in and complete all gates - meaning that you have checked into all six Check Ins and have completed the mandatory Check out - Checkpoint Seven. However, not many folks do ALL seven gates.
I am going to get some sleep.

Folks as you know I was up until 3AM this morning and felt like - Waiting for Godot or the Maytag Repairman.
I am so delighted that folks from the US stateside and Canada showed up to post and check in.
Those of you in other parts of the world can still participate - just find the Check In which matches to your timezone and Check In there but you missed the gate for Check In One unless you are in some places in Latin, Central or South America or Hawaii, etc. You would have to check in at a later check in which matches what the time is in your location. We will help you along the way.
One other thing that occurred was some sort of glitch with the PM system of communicating. I sat and had no communications for hours and then all of a sudden the envelope icon lit up with 24 messages. Some of which were timestamped from 6 hours before - I answered all of those before trying to get some sleep at 3AM or thereabouts.

I am moving through Check In Checkpoint Two right now.
I had done a third or fourth pass through Check In Checkpoint One.
And moving forward first and then I will go back around.
I do not have any other PMs that have not been answered so if you send me a PM and did not hear back - I did not receive it yet.

I am working on Checkpoint Three
Those of you in Checkpoint One - make sure your templates are done and complete.
Checkpoint Two - same thing
Checkpoint Three - the East Coast is here until 8PM - another hour.
I have also given helpful hints and tips to those folks who are MIA - or global neighbors - possibly just new and do not know what to do. Hopefully most of you can still participate.

I noticed a couple of things - I made some slight changes to the templates.
I added Total Books Read as well as a line Total Books Completed
This was not an error - Total Books Read - means how many books you sampled during the time block if you did not read totally from just one book - so here your response would be at least 1
Total Books Completed are books you completed through the last page and can count them as done.
Remember every participant has to complete the Readathon Checkout and that is CHECKPOINT SEVEN - THE MANDATORY CHECKOUT WHICH IS THE FINAL TALLY.

Hi Bently,
One last stupid question--I set up my Readathon Shelf and now I'm confused as to how exactly to complete it. I thought it was like regular 'in progress' shelves, but I can't seem to get it right.
(eyes rolling & feeling dumb)
Thanks!
What you must do is when you complete a book during the readathon is to make sure that when you put in the completion date and that you have READ the book that you save it to the read shelf, the 2017 shelf and whatever you named your Readathon shelf.
But the book has to be completed to show on your shelf. It only shows completion books so I always advise folks to use the readathon to finish up some of those books they have not finished but are close to doing first.

I have not sent out the event notification as yet - and we need a minimum of 30 folks - I will send it out today and see if we get the minimum - otherwise I will reschedule.
Hello Sandy - I am going to move the readathon to July 8th so that folks have enough time to sign up and for us to get our 30 people minimum globally. I also wanted to get by the fourth of July weekend for us here in the US.
Hope to see you then.
Hope to see you then.

Michele - not yet - but we are working on getting things clicking again - I have two different reads going on and just getting things back in shape. But we will be having the readathons again to be sure. They are a lot of fun and we need a lot more help. We are all volunteers as you know. Right now - Readathons are on hold. When we decide to schedule once again - we will notify folks via an event notification so that we can have signups in advance and a commitment. Thank you for asking. We appreciated your involvement in the past Readathons.
All, there is much to do on the site to get everything up to date and there are many books being read and initiated as we speak - so remember the readathons are on hold.
