I hit a major reading slump in November and didn't end up making as much progress on the SRC as I'd hoped, so getting picked to create a task for this season was quite a surprise! In the spirit of getting out of the reading doldrums, read ONE book by an author whose name does NOT contain ANY of the letters in SLUMP.

Examples:

Nancy Horan
Georgette Heyer
Janet Evanovich

To assist in moderation, only books with a single author can be used for this task - no writing teams or compilations by multiple authors.

A pseudonym may be used if it satisfies the task description, but ONLY if that pseudonym is the first author name listed on the GR main page for the book in question. For example, you could choose A Dark-Adapted Eye by the pseudonymous Barbara Vine because Barbara Vine is the first listed author. However, you could not use A Judgement in Stone, which is published under Vine's real name (Ruth Rendell) and doesn't work for this task.

Otherwise, normal SRC rules apply - here's hoping you find a great slump-busting read!

That's a good author name, right? I'm a little confused about the whole pseudonym rule, so I went with what I knew. :-)

Pia So, these authors work for the task?

Happy (worldhasteeth) | 173 comments Are translators allowed? I want to try reading Yōko Ogawa but my Japanese is somewhat lacking.

It's okay if not, because I just found Nnedi Okorafor as a backup.

Nick Hornby has a new book coming out (or any of his books are amazing) and unless I am losing it (possible since I was reading an entire thriller in the middle of the night) he works for this!
