It's always great to discover an amazing new author. But there's also nothing wrong with going back to a reliable author that you always love. Or maybe there's an author you keep hearing about so you've added all their books to your (likely swelling) TBR. Regardless of how they got there, this week we're reading authors who deserve more than one space in your reading goals.

-----------------------------------
Suggestions:
This week we're focused on your individual TBR, so there are no real suggestions. As a general suggestion, it may be easier to find repeat authors by sorting by author name.

1. Click 'author' at the top of your TBR to sort alphabetically
2. Skim your TBR and look for repeat author names

-----------------------------------

Optional questions:
- What are you reading for this category?
- Who is the author?
- Have you read any books from the author?

message 2: by Serendipity (new)

Serendipity | 441 comments I didn't have any author with two books of my TBR. But I have only read the first two Cormoran Strike books so I added the other two. Pretty sure I'll read Career of Evil for the monstrous character and Lethal White here. Of course technically by the time I read Lethal White I'll no longer have two books by Robert Galbraith on my TBR... Obviously I don't want to read them out of order so I'll have to settle for living within the spirit of this prompt if not the actual letter of the law.

This is almost a free choice for me, because I have quite a few authors with multiple books on my TBR, and most of these authors I've read before so I know I like them. I've narrowed it down to the following authors (cutting about 15 from the list!)

Don't Look Back or Meet Cute: Some People Are Destined to Meet by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Mosquitoland, Kids of Appetite, or The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik by David Arnold
Still Alice or Every Note Played by Lisa Genova
Home Front or The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
One Day or Us by David Nicholls
Small Great Things or A Spark of Light by Jodi Piccoult
The Summer Wives or The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams

I own The Great Alone, One Day, and The Summer Wives, so I'll probably go with one of those if I haven't read it for another prompt already.

message 4: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments I was surprised at just how many repeat authors I have on my list! I tried to narrow it down but still have quite a large list for this category:

The Fortress of Solitude
A Spool of Blue Thread
London
The Sparrow
American Pastoral
The Red-Haired Woman
Kafka on the Shore
Nutshell
Firefly Lane
Fresh Complaint
Us Against You
Purple Hibiscus

message 5: by dalex (new)

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments I have about a bazillion options for this prompt. When I add a book to my TBR List I frequently add a second book by the same author so I'm not even limited to a "tried and true" author for this one. I have a book penciled on my plan for this prompt but it could very well change by the time I get to it.

message 6: by Angie (new)

Angie | 19 comments So many options.

The one that comes to mind first is Stephen King. I'm working my way through his bibliography, so I might do something by him. Maybe Night Shift or Cujo.

Other strong contenders include Jim Butcher, since I am trying to finish the Dresden Files series, William Faulkner, and Toni Morrison.

message 7: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 477 comments I have so many options for this one that it will basically be almost like a "free space" to read whatever book I feel like at the time.

message 8: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments I had to narrow this way down. I ended up with two that I actually own from authors not already on my list somewhere:

Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda
and The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

message 9: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3256 comments To narrow my choices, I chose authors with at least three books on my TBR.
Balthazar (The Alexandria Quartet #2) - Lawrence Durrell
The Adventures of Elizabeth in Rügen - Elizabeth von Arnim
A Pair Of Blue Eyes- Thomas Hardy (Wessex novel #2)

I'll be reading The Interestings next year too... another one that I own and can't exactly remember where I picked it up from. I'm kind of dreading it because it's long and has become one of those daunting books that stares at me from the shelves.

Noooooo , not another long book!! I really need to pay attention to page counts, I threw some monsters on my plan without thinking. But I also have quite a few really short ones. I own this one because I bought for a book club read that I never participated in a few years ago.

message 12: by Pam (last edited Nov 12, 2018 08:17AM) (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3772 comments I have so many to choose from that I will make the prompt more challenging and choose an author who has more than 1 unread book on my physical bookshelves. Including my husband’s classics, my choices are Thomas Hardy, Victor Hugo, Dickens, Dostoyevsky, Emile Zola, Terry Pratchett, Barbara Kingsolver, Annie Proulx, CJ Samson, Ken Follett, Tolkien, Mervyn Peake, and Andrea Barrett.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) This is a great chance for me to sneak another already owned classic onto my list. My options were the Bronte sisters, G.K. Chesterton, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell and a few misc. children's authors and indie authors that I have free kindle books from.

I'm planning to go with Agnes Grey.

I went through my TBR yesterday and I have so many options for this one that it's a bit hard to even choose one. I will likely end up going with Tana French since I stalled out on the Dublin Murder Squad series. I definitely want to make that a priority for 2019.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Ania Ahlborn
John Ajvide Lindqvist
Margaret Atwood
Fredrik Backman
Sharon J. Bolton
John Boyne
Kealan Patrick Burke
M.R. Carey
John Connelly
Tana French
Lisa Genova
Kristin Hannah
Grady Hendrix
Kody Keplinger
Stephen King
Dean Koontz
Mary Kubica
Kate Morton
Patrick Ness
Adam Nevill
Jodi Picoult
Adam Sternbergh
Wendy Walker
Ruth Ware

It's (apparently) under 500 pages, which I wouldn't typically consider super long. BUT it's been sitting on my shelf for so long that I feel like it's longer than it really is.

message 16: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 452 comments I'm doing a reread of Jon McGregor's If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things for this. I've read another of his books and all his others are on my TBR.

message 17: by Betty (new)

Betty Q | 109 comments I read strictly for pleasure and I really prefer easy reads-I want to expand my reading without getting bogged down with too many “deep” (at least for me) books. This will be a good opportunity for me to enjoy a Stephanie Plum book.

message 18: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 2273 comments I have a massive TBR list and in order to keep it down, I usually try to have only one book at a time from any given author. So I thought this would be difficult, but to my surprise there are lots of authors with multiple books on my TBR!! Some authors have a lot of 99 cent sales and that's my price point so I buy the book and of course add it to my TBR and then forget about it. My organizational skills have failed me! Or they've helped me, because now I have choices for this category. I think I will read something by either Elizabeth Bear or Jill Shalvis. They are two very different authors so I have a lot of options here depending on what I'm in the mood for.

message 19: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3241 comments I have so many options for this, but I'm most likely sticking to Louise Jensen. I have all of her books on my TBR despite never reading any of them, and I keep meaning to add her into my challenges and then forgetting to actually do it.

message 20: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3772 comments I like your rationale Rachel! I’ve done the same thing, adding lots of books by an author yet not reading a single one! I may follow your lead and read one of my “favorite” unread authors. I’m thinking Thomas Hardy, Tim Winton or Thomas Keneally.

That was me with Liane Moriarty before this year! I'm thinking of using David Arnold, since I have three of his books on my TBR.

message 22: by Mel (new)

Mel | 176 comments I've got a lot of authors who qualify on here, but considering how many of Seanan McGuire's books I've got on my TBR shelf, I feel like she's going to be my pick for this prompt.

message 23: by Joanne (new)

message 24: by Liz (new)

Liz | 516 comments I like the idea of narrowing it down by an author I've never read before too. That will help a bunch - there are too many books on my list for this prompt otherwise! :)

message 25: by Elise (new)

Elise (theblackhorizon) I've been reading one book per year by Thomas Bernhard. Next one in line is Wittgenstein's Nephew.

message 26: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 452 comments Any time I read a good book, I want to read more by that author! So I confined this to authors I've read a few things by already. Which left me with Margaret Atwood, Ian McEwan, Jon McGregor...I forget who else. But I'm doing a re-read of If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things for a PS prompt so that will work nicely here too.

message 27: by Mom2triplets04 (new)

Mom2triplets04 | 118 comments If I read them in order again we are in May and I try to read as many books as I can from middle grade for #middlegrademay I'm choosing book 2 Rodrick Rules by Jeff Kinney. I really enjoyed book 1 back in 2017 so It's time to move on and steal that book from my son. He owns the entire series

Rodrick Rules (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #2) by Jeff Kinney

message 32: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2360 comments I read The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory for this prompt. It was my first book by her, and I have The Proposal on my TBR as well.

I was totally enamored by the cover, and I love stories where people have to pretend to be in love, so this was a book I had my eye on for a while.

Ira | 354 comments I have a lot of options, but I think I will go for a book from a series. I have a bad habbit of adding the whole series to my TBR, especially, if it is a finished series.I like binge reading series, so maybe that is the reason I do this. Some options are

N. K. Jemisin
Stephen Deas
Jim Butcher

Brandon Sanderson
Maria V. Snyder
K. J. Parker

Some interesting series on there. I am reading both Robin Hobb and Trudi Canavan at the moment (well, I am in the middle of their series). Can't speak highly enough of Jemisin.

I haven't read her before, and this is her debut book (which was noticeable at times). I also have Silkworm Secrets on my TBR list, and on my iPad, so will look forward to seeing if this one is any better.
