I am going to just live vicariously off your many lists! I am hoping to complete Around the Year, PopSugar, and BookRiot's challenges this year, but not sure about my timeframe as so many of my books are nonfiction and longer. I love the idea of "eye candy"--that's how I end up taking home piles of library books I don't have time to read! :)

Gosh, Tracy, you're plowing through! I love that you're doing a challenge with your kids! One of my daughters is also doing the AtY, and we talk books all the time.

Thats so great ! I saw a plan with some mother/daughter reads, is that you? I love cuddling up to read with them.

Edit: I found the mother/daughter plan and its Krissy's. I love that there are a few of us getting our daughters/sons involved😊

She's doing it independently from me, but we give each other ideas and talk about the books we're reading. 😊

January Wrap- Up

Well, the end of the month was a wash for me, I didn't quite make my goals for Pop Sugar and Book Riot, but I think I did pretty well, so I'm gonna go ahead and pat myself on the back.

I had Five 5- star reads, one was adult fiction, one middle grade, two picture books and a graphic novel.

Some of what I read was underwhelming.

On to the next month!!

Evelyn Hugo was soooo good, I wasn't expecting to even like it. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

The girls have to read every night for homework, so they actually read even more than whats shown here. I'm really proud of them :-)

I loved both of Rupi Kaur's books. They were so emotional.

You did great! I don't know how you read so many side reads... I feel guilty if I'm not applying the books I'm reading to a challenge 😂.

I read one of them for the read-a-thon, one because it only took me an hour and the other for another book group here.

The fact that I read absolutely NOTHING for ATY is just causing me stress right now. I'm reading The Shining for PopSugar but thinking about using it for the ghost prompt just to get my numbers up a little. Actually if I really wanted to I could use a few of these towards ATY but I like my plan and I really don't want to change it. If I can have another few months like January, I'll be all set. This past month was a nightmare at work and at home so I'm honestly surprised I read anything at all.

Milk and Honey was really difficult for me to read emotionally, I found The Sun and Her Flowers MUCH easier.

Mostly 4 and 5 stars, not bad...

I've been meaning to read something by Kaur! I Read only one book through all of March, and abandoned a few more. Hope we get our reading lives back under control soon. ;)

Im making progress, I finished The Shining and I'm about 90% done with I Know This Much Is True, so I'm feeling pretty good that this will be a better reading month :-)

Kaurs books take about an hour to read tops if you don't stop to think about them too much, if you have a kindle, you can get Milk and Honey through the Lending Library.

Oh I don't even know.... I have too many challenges. I'm behind on ATY which sucks because its my favorite but the breakdown right now is

I know, I just saw that and I was meaning to comment how awesome you're doing!! Which other challenge are you working on? If you need more theres always PopSugar and Book Riot. The prompts are further up in my thread....or a lot of us have various other side challenges in the infinity and beyond thread here in this group :-)

I was way ahead on ATY this year, so I made a mini-challenge out of my favorite PopSugar prompts. It added 15 books to my list. I really didn’t like Book Riot’s list this year.

If its this one: This Is Where It Ends, then its fiction. Maybe if you're interested in the school shooter theme ( very timely right now) try Newtown: An American Tragedy, or Columbine

#10?- I think I remember this being a debut but I could be wrong...
#21? First person- I think it's first person in several characters voices
#30- short ( for me anything under 300 pages is short lol)
#34? If you could find a reject prompt to fit it into
#35- murder
#36? Author you've never read before
#43- title is a whole sentence
#45? depending on interpretation if the topic intimidates or scares you
#48- deadly sin

or for Pop Sugar maybe
#10- death/grief
#37? if you had meant to read it in 2017
#9- problem facing society

Relax, it is supposed to be fun. That's what you told me when I started. In bingo can you use the same book for numerous spots except the starred ones?

We loved After The Fall, but Pippi was iffy. Tell the chipmunk and squirrel that The Dinosaur That Pooped a Planet was a great suggestion and very popular.
