Val H. | 21882 comments I know it's all over bar the shouting but I'm worried, Post, that you put it in a thread that's titled "no music allowed". Are you suggesting that the Latvian entry cannot be classed as music? ?

Latvian's song wasn't bad at all, but again, that whole contest in general was a total bollocks again, including the winner imo. Is that why I'm watching (ok, mostly switching between other channels)? Yeah, must be my sick sense of humour I guess. Alright, Israel singer I liked too.

Post Soviet (postsoviet) | 549 comments So yes, 99% of EV is not about the music. Does ABBA count? '0)

suzysunshine7 | 15984 comments Sadly I would agree that one of the last things the Eurovision Contest seems to be about is the Music. I don't remember it being like this when I was a child and it was actually a big deal for us to sit around the TV as a family to watch it ... but maybe this is because I simply wasn't aware of all the politics and power play back then?

We somehow just stopped watching it a couple of decades ago and now we never bother with it anymore.

Brass Neck | 3979 comments A chap I know had tickets for Cadillac Three in Manchester but offered them on his FB page as he couldn't go because the ESC was on!! Probably didn't sell them, nor went but FFS?!

I am confused? ... did it never occur to him that he could still enjoy the live concert he already had tickets for and then settle down to watch the video of Eurovision the next day? ;o>

I think he gets a load of mates (not including me obvs) round and they do drinking games and get royally wasted whereas to attend the gig they'd have to drive 200+ miles round trip using the M62, pay super-expensive Manc parking charges, rush to get fed, stand for 3-4 hours (he's a very big lad with shot knees from rugby), etc, etc.

suzysunshine7 | 15984 comments I've noticed that there are many people who like to invite friends round to make a theme night out of watching Eurovision. It sounds a great idea ;o>

Val H. | 21882 comments It's huge in Australia! We send our own two commentators to cover the TV broadcast and interview contestants. Eurovision parties are very common, even with the time difference.

Serial Sock Trumpet (serialsocktrumpet) | 1998 comments I was hoping Israel would win Eurovision.

And as for the Irish entry, wtaf.

Bambi Thug. Sure I know 'it' is from Macroom and that's a rough spot, but still.

"When Chuck Norris makes a joke about Will Smith's wife, Will stands up and slaps her."

"Chuck Norris was once bitten by a king cobra. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died."

Chuck Norris died when he was 54, Death just hasn't had the courage to tell him.
