Omg, ty Super Zaz! lol

I'll try to find it in Port, because I prefer physical books, but I was looking and is a short story, right? I'll add to the list (:

Zaz | 2969 comments Yes, it's a tale so it's short, around 9 pages. The pdf version (also on the site) is quite lovely :)
You have more japanese fairytales on the site if you search.

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments Week 1. A book you meant to read in 2015, but didn't: Maze Runner, by James Dashner

Review: I really liked Maze Runner, but I hated the ending!

- At the beginning I was "ok". The characters wasn't so interesting, and then I discovered some that I liked a lot.
- In the middle of the reading, I felt that I was reading something great. And MR would be add to my "favorite list"
- And in the end, of that "forever-reading-book" (it never ends!!!), I started to thinks that the things were going to be ok, but no. NO!
Why?
Well, because at the ending of the book, my favorite character was killed because of...NOTHING!

That's why I will give it 4 stars.

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments Week 2. A book set in a different continent: Invisible Murder, by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis

My favorite hero(ine) is back!

Nina Borg is a great character, specially because of her tendency to act as a real philanthropist. You call her, and she is always there to help. But unfortunately she does things that, in her family point of view, looks like a lack of responsibility to her mother's life.

I needed some time to understand all the characters of this book, but I figured out that they are very important to the whole story.

4 stars and I can't wait to the next book!

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments Week 3. A book from the 카지노싸이트 Choice Awards 2015 (winner or nominated): The Girl on the Train, by Paula Hawkins

Hm... this is a normal book. With a boring thriller story. A meh main character.

Maybe the problem is with me!

3 Stars of mehness

Sophie, I almost give it a 2, but I'm not THAT cruel. Even a bad book deserves at least 3 stars. I think I gave 1 just once.

I didn't like the net that connected the characters, I hated the main one (she is SO boring), every time I read about the victim I was like "meh meh meh, u bitch" lol they could all burn in hell, maybe I'd give it a 5 lol

message 16: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I read it last year & still hover between two & three stars. I gave it three purely because it kept me interested and turning the pages, and I did want to find out who did it. But the more I think about it, I really do think it was just ok.

We all have different ways to rate books, but I could never give it the same rating as other books that were not that good, but still had redeeming features ;)
At first, I gave it 2 stars, but changed my rating after all the rave it got, it just pissed me off :P

message 19: by Zaz (new)

Zaz | 2969 comments Because of you Sophie, the main character of the book will drink more and be more depressing. Poor next readers :p
I'm also on the 3 stars club, because it was a page turner, but nothing new on the thriller planet.

message 21: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments Week 4. A book by an author you discovered in 2015: The Girl You Left Behind, by Jojo Moyes

She did it again! Jojo wrote another beautiful and realistic story.
Liv and Sophie, the main characters, show how are the real women. We are brave, we fight for the things/people we love. We fight for our lives, no matter what we have to do.
I am in love with this book. Me Before You took a piece of my soul, but The Girl You Left Behind put it back.

5/∞ Stars

message 22: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 5. A book with a title beginning with the 1st letter of your name : Vampire Academy ("O Beijo das Sombras" in Portuguese)

I tried to read this book two years ago, but I didn't finish it.
Finally, I gave it a chance and I really liked it!
It was a way to remember about high school and about some friends. And also to remember about bullying. Bullying and gossips can destroy someone's life!

But this vampire story is very nice, funny, and interesting.

4 stars! :D

message 23: by Holli (new)

Holli | 337 comments 29. A book by an author who writes under more than one name

Dean Koontz would be a good choice for this one. He writes under multiple pen names. I think he has at least four different names he's used previously. You might enjoy his Odd Thomas series. They can be a little creepy, but have a lot of humor also and are a pretty fast read.

Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz

46. A crime story

I'd say one of Robert B. Parker's Spenser books. His are detective books and will work well for this one. They are also fast reads.

The Godwulf Manuscript (Spenser, #1) by Robert B. Parker

I saw a listing for Odd Thomas in Portuguese in what little looking I did through Google. And the Spenser book came out in 1973, so hopefully it will be easy to find. Good luck in your book journey. :-)

I don't think I'll read Maze Runner soon. I liked it, but some friends warned me that the author lost his mind, and the ending became a trash.

Vampire Academy was a surprise! I'll finish it, but not now. I have to finish Unfortunate Events, Percy Jackson and Millennium :D

Holli, wow, thank you so much!

I liked Odd Thomas, and, yes, the is Odd Thomas in Brazilian Portuguese. I'll put it on my list, but there is a Brazilian author I'd like to read. Carpinejar, he is awesome!!

The Crime Story will go with Agatha Christie, because I bought 3 books of her! I just forgot to update my list LOL

message 28: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 6. The highest rated on your TBR: Divergent, by Veronica Roth

I thought I would give it a 5, but in the end of the book I realized that a 4 is fine.

I liked the characters, specially Four. I don't always like male characters, but he is awesome. Better than Tris (in my opinion). I also liked Will, Christina, Al, and even Peter, and the whole Dauntless faction. My favorite female character is Tori. Where is she? I would like to read more about her.

It was nice to think that I fit in Candor (I hope to read more about it). I'm pretty sure I would be born in this faction (my parents are VERY honest), and I wouldn't change. But is sad when I think about my best friend (she would fit in Amity) and my fiance (he would fit in Dauntless) :P

message 29: by Zaz (new)

Zaz | 2969 comments If you liked Four, you should read the short story about him (The Transfer), it really added to learn more about him and I loved it. Sadly, Four is the one who lacks consistency in the series, so I didn't like him as much in the sequels :(
I think I would have end in Erudite, but I'm probably a little Divergent.

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 7. A book about books: Fahrenheit 451

This is great! Definitely a classic that everybody MUST read.

(view spoiler)

4 stars!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
8. A classic book with less than 200 pages: The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is a book that is all based on the Bible. I say it because I read the Bible everyday, and all the Santiago's journey is something that is now new for me.

I mean, except for the magic stuff, the book has a great message that, for those who read the Bible, is not new. There is only one God, who writes the best thing for the human being, and we should hear the inner voice (Spirit Saint) that leads us to our good destiny.

The Alchemist is very nice. It is a surprise that as a Brazilian, I never read this book before.
4 stars (:

message 32: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 9. A book that was mentioned in another book: To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee

What a lovely book!

I'm in love with Scout and her point of view of everything, she made me remember about the little things, when I used to look to people, and not to their clothes. Laughing when finding an insect, poking them, but not killing them, even when they were really disgusting.

Boo is a mystery that we always had when we were young. I remember about a lot of Boo's I had seen during my life, and I wish I could leave some notes to them.

4 stars just because of the end of the book!

message 33: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 10. A book by an author you feel you should have read by now:

"The book to read is not the one that thinks for you but the one which makes you think."

Mrs. Lee did it again! What a book!

I know a lot of people can't appreciate her peculiar way of writing, but Harper created a possible world. The story sets after the WW II, but it could happen nowadays.
Maybe it is because I familiarized myself with Scott and my mother with Atticus, and the same thing happened to me and my mother, but I loved this book, and also because of the world inside it. The story is set in one small city, but it looks like a huge place!

Thank you, Harper! You deserve more than 5 stars <3

message 34: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 11. A book from the Rory Gilmore challenge:

When I started re-reading, I thought that I was crazy for loving the series so much when I was a kid, but now I know why.

HARRY POTTER IS AWESOME!

Well, not the character. Harry, to tell the truth, is pretty boring (I couldn't see this when I was younger because he was the love of my life), but now I appreciated other characters, like Hagrid, Neville and Snape (who I used to hate!).
Now that I know the end, reading the first book broke my heart, because we know who dies, who lives, who was trying to do the best to everyone...

between the book and the movie, believe me, I prefer the movie! I mean, the director and producers made some good changes and the movie became more magical than the book. But the book is as magic as the movie (don't hate meee!)

Favorite character: Hagrid (:

5 STARS!

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 12. A childhood classic: Peter Pan

Almost 5.

I just gave 4 to this book because I think Peter Pan is a heartless boy.

(view spoiler)

Anyway, the book is amazing!
Neverland is a place every child went to. Even I went there, but I can't remember very well...

Favorite character: Mrs. Darling

4 stars.

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 13. Reader’s Choice: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

It is really sad, but I'll give it only 3 stars.

I don't like the history, and I think the movie was a way better than the book. Is it possible? Yes!

Favorite Character: Ron because he calls Lockhart a "git" (in Portuguese they translated git to bosta and this is something like shit LOL HE CALLS LOCKHART A SHIT I laughed really loud!!)

And this is Agatha Christie!!!

I can't believe I never read a book of her. She is GREAT!.

I tried to read Harlan Coben, James Petterson, Paula Hawkins, but only Agatha caught my attention.

Did I said the wrong person was the assassin? SURE!
Was I surprised by the end of the book? OF COURSE!
Do I want to read all of her books? HELL, YEEEEEES!

4 Stars only because I can't believe the assassin is...this person.

Favorite Character: Mary Dove (I would like to read more about her)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 15. A book set in the past (more than 100 years ago): The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

It's really, really meh. I think it is because of the time it was written. I don't think is a bad story, but it's just meh.

Favorite character: The horse that I forgot the name o.O

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 16. A book from the top 100 mystery novels: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Finally! The book is good, but I almost gave it a 3-stars.
I think I like the book as much as I liked the Hollywood movie. Some friends told me I should watch the original series, and I intend to do it as soon as possible.

Favorite character: Lisbeth Salander!!!!!!

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 17. A book with a beautiful cover: The Way We Fall

WOW! It took me only 2 days to read this book, and I'm surprised how good it is. I just didn't give it 5 stars because I think it could be more wild. But it's still a prodigy and interesting series.

Favorite Character: Kaelyn, the main character. She is not annoying as the most female characters of dystopian books. She knows her place, what she can do, she doesn't try to save the whole world every-single-damn-time and she is sincere. I really like her!

message 43: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 18. A book on a summer/beach reading list: The Selection

Ok, this book is good. I thought it would be one more YA book, but it is funny and light to read. I'm in love with Aspen and Maxon, but I think I will "take" Maxon this time. He is such a gentleman! But Aspen is charming and "macho man". I think America is in trouble!

Favorite Character: I was thinking about America, but I'll pick Maxon. Damn, he is so cute!

What a book. I won't give it a 5 because it's not one of my favorites. But this book deserves a BIG FOUR! I love reading about the Holocaust, and it was different this time, because I didn't know anything about Theresienstadt.

I have no words to explain how sad is reading about the Holocaust. I'll definelety lend my book to some friends interested on it, and other friends that doesn't know too much about WW2.

There is not a "favorite character" beucase unfortunately this book is real. All the jews deserve my admiration and love! ❤

This is my favorite book of the series, and I'm glad of re-reading it after so long time. My feelings were messed up by the end of the book. I was happy but crying.

I remember that the first time I read this book was during school (10 yeas ago) and said to my friends Sirius was my father. It was so good - the old days! We used to create stories based of Harry Potter's world.

Favorite Character: Sirius Black!!!!!!!

I have to say I am surprised with the story of this book. I tried to read classics as Peter Pan and Alice and I didn't like them. They were really boring, but the Wizard is funny, interesting and also has something really important to tell to kids and aldults that read it.

The fact is that you can "find" intelligence, a good heart, and bravery inside yourself with no help from other people. You just need to try, try again, make wrong choices, try one more time, grow, and get what you want inside you.

I will definetely read this book to my 6 years old cousin! (thisis a good way to re-read it asap)

Favorite Character: Tin Man and his lovely heart ❤

22. The first book in a new to you series: Blackbird

By the end of the book, I gave it a 5!

Yes, this book is awesome! I usually don't like thriller books (Tell No One and The Girl on the Train - you suck!), but this one is great!!

I can't wait to read the 2nd!

Favorite Character: Sunny/FNV02198

23. The next book in a series you are reading: It's in His Kiss

First, I don't think Hyacinth and Garreth are a nice couple. Their romance looks fake, it doens't seem that they really love each other, it seems that they want to fu** every single time. But love? I don't think so...

(view spoiler)

I usually give 3 stars to books that I don't like, but I could finish in 5 days. So that's why I gave it 3 starts

Favorite Character: Isabella (the grandma), you are the best part of this book! (I also love Lady Danbury, she is great!!!)

25. A book whose main character is in a profession that interests you: Inkheart

This book wasn't too nice. It was pretty interesting, by the beggining, but at the end I was almost screaming and giving up of the reading. (Sorry for the English, I don't know how to express my feelings about this book. I'm lost LOL).

Favorite Character: Meggie, because she is brave!

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 26. A book everyone is talking about

Agatha IS the Queen Goddess of Crime!!!!

I loved it so much that I already started Nêmesis to compare which book is the best: Nemesis, A Pocket Full of Rye or The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side.

(view spoiler)

If you never read a book by Agatha, you should do it right now!

Favorite Character: Miss Marple!!!! I love heeeeeer!

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 974 comments 27. A book with a beautiful title (in your own opinion): Nemesis

It was a very tiring reading, for sure. This time it looked like Miss Marple was a superhero(in). Actually I think she is, but the reading was tough.

So this reading deserves 3 stars, first because I still love Miss Marple and then because I knew who was the killer again (call me Miss Marple II lol).

Favorite Character: Miss Marple, as always!

I really enjoyed the movie Inkheart, but am worried that the book will not live up to the movie. Who does not love Brendan Fraser!
