Kathy E | 3256 comments Hi, I'm Kathy from Wisconsin, USA. I joined the 2015 challenge in July and am excited to begin the year doing the 2016 challenge. I'm trying to read more classics this year. I also want to read Agatha Christie books.

message 202: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Hodge-Levins | 2 comments Oops I should add I'm from Australia :)

message 203: by Candy (new)

Candy Bowe | 3 comments Hi. I'm Candy from Massachusetts, USA. I was always an avid reader, but with raising two children, life has gotten in the way. I am looking forward to doing more reading in 2016. Thank you for letting me join.

I just got a Kindle Paperwhite too! Loving it. And as someone else noted, we are all book nerds here, so welcome!

message 205: by Anissa (new)

Anissa | 1 comments Hello my name Anissa. I am new to the group. I am going to try to read 100 books this year.

message 206: by Katie (new)

Katie (katenumber8030) | 70 comments Happy New Year, everyone! I lurked in the 2015 group a bit last year, but only today spent the time trying to join groups from my phone (I went through the browser, never figured out the Android app.) The PopSugar list last year was the first New Year's Resolution I've ever stuck with, so I'm a little shy of trying again, but I love the list y'all came up with and will try to pace myself a little better this year, having burned myself out quickly last year by finishing in August (for fear of losing momentum and quitting altogether.) I ended up reading 75 books.

I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and am (at present) a stay at home mom to two. I'm currently halfway through a trio of books touching on the arts and music scene in downtown New York City in late 70s and 80s, which I haven't yet pigeonholed into categories, so maybe I'll keep them separate, although I'd love to discuss them. Can't wait to participate!

message 207: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 244 comments @Laura and Sophie

Thank you both for your words of encouragement and pep talk! Sophie, if I can do that I will feel great about it, that's for sure!

If I wasn't on the site as much I'd get more reading done. lol Such a great community everyone on GR has built that it draws you in almost daily. I have started to play less "games" and participate in threads a little less in order to concentrate on mostly reading. Still, it's nice to check in with the new friends made and get recommendations. Finding new authors this year was one f the things I enjoyed most. However, you're right...I did read more books this year than I have the last few so maybe I'll be lucky and accomplish it like you, Sophie! Here's hoping!

message 208: by Adam (new)

Adam Smith (chaos624) | 1197 comments Hi, I'm Adam. Australian writer and reader living in Japan.

I did last year's PopSugar challenge and had a lot of fun. Look forward to doing this year's 52 book challenge as well,

I hope to get more active in the forums this time. Right now I'm running around doing prep and finding all the books I'm going to read. Probably end up changing my mind when the time comes but that is half the fun.

message 209: by Marleen (new)

Marleen (marleenanna) | 28 comments Hi everyone! I'm Marleen, 26 and from the Netherlands.

Last year was the first time I set a 카지노싸이트 challenge for myself and it helped me so much to stay on top of my reading. So this year, I'm looking to add a little extra challenge :) this group looks like so much fun!

I mostly read YA fantasy (I love Sarah J. Maas) but I would like to read a bit outside my comfort zone this year. I've always liked reading classics but last year I read.. none?! This challenge looks like it might help me with both!

I'll post my plan later today. I don't know that much people on 카지노싸이트 yet, so I can't wait to connect with everyone!

message 210: by Robin (new)

Robin De | 5 comments Hi, I'm Robin and a life long book freak living in Dublin, Ohio.

Last year was the first time I set a goal for reading and also the first time I really became devoted to 카지노싸이트. I want to see what others are reading and plan my list. This seems daunting so I am focusing on January right now.

message 211: by Helin (new)

Helin Puksand | 43 comments Hi, I'm Helin from Estonia. I like reading and I read 58 books last year. I follow three reading challenges right now. :)

message 212: by Emily (new)

Emily Squyres (emilysquyres) Hey Everybody!

My name is Emily, and I'm 17 (about to turn 18, yay!!).

Honestly, I've never been a huge reader; probably averaging 10-15 books a year. This year, I have decided to push myself and attempt to read the 52+ books! I'm very excited about this, and I hope that this group (since it's my first group to join :) ) will motivate me to achieve my goal.

Personally, I love rock music, and Netflix. I love photography, and I'm a bit too sarcastic at times (picture a young April Ludgate lol). My favorite book genres are YA fiction, Historical fiction, Memoirs/Autobiographies, Psychology, and Romance.

I'm so exited to do this challenge with all of y'all :)

message 213: by Mary (new)

Mary | 3 comments Hi! I'm Mary from the Washington DC area. This will be my first reading challenge since the Pizza Hut Book It! Reading Challenge in elementary school. I enjoyed it then so why not now? Can't wait! :)

message 214: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Haha, Mary, that's cute! I'm sure you will and glad you're here! Glad everyone is here! Welcome all!

message 215: by Manpreet (new)

Manpreet | 10 comments Hi All! My name is Manpreet and I am from Toronto. I joined up for the 2015 Challenge but it did not go so well. However I am hoping to change that this year and have already finished one book :)
Happy Reading Everyone!

message 216: by Pauline (last edited Jan 04, 2016 03:34PM) (new)

Pauline C | 68 comments Hi everyone,
My name is Pauline and I live in Liverpool, UK. I am part of a small private 카지노싸이트 group, through which I found the 2015 Popsugar challenge. I'm not a very fast reader and my time for reading is limited, but I managed 30/52 for that challenge. I like reading to be relaxed and not too much pressure after a day at work, so my goal is just to try to do my best (ideally more than 30) and to have fun. I will be jumping around the weeks, partly fitting books I want to read to the themes, and partly following others' suggestions for specific topics. I won't publish a reading plan .. I hope to get inspired as I go along!
My favourite genres are historical fiction, memoirs and contemporary fiction, but I hope to branch out too!

message 217: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 67 comments Hello and Happy New Year! I am Shelly, and I participated in the 2015 Challenge. I digested 49 books last year (not including audiobooks) and hope to get through at least 52 in 2016. I took the last two months of 2015 off to catch up on some other aspects of my life, but I'm back with a vengeance.
I love this group! Yes, reading is great, but . . .researching books to read and plugging them into the plan. . .discovering new books and authors and moving books about to plug them into the plan. . . .collecting ever more titles and authors by reading members raves and rants . . .THESE are the serendipitous benefits of belonging to this wonderful group of book-a-holics!

message 218: by Zaz (new)

Zaz | 2969 comments It's very nice to see old members (I think I recognize most of the profile pictures) and new ones :)

I really hope everyone will enjoy this new year with the group and will have fun with the discussions (pretty good so far). Have fun with your books!

message 219: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Whitehead | 1 comments Hi I am Andrea and I love to read, despite this I keep allowing work and feeling tired to get in the way of a good book, so this year I am moving on and I am hoping that this reading group will keep me focused. Love the idea of this

message 220: by Emily (last edited Jan 05, 2016 11:11AM) (new)

Emily Squyres (emilysquyres) Hey Everybody!!

My name is Emily, I'm 18 years old, and I'm from Texas!

I've always wanted to be a avid reader, but I've never had the time to do it. So, because of my ridiculous competitiveness, I figure if I have a challenge that I have to complete, I will! So hopefully this will get me to read all of the (many lol) books I want to!!

Personally, I'm a pretty chill person. I love watching Netflix, and I love rock/punk/metal music :) I'm pretty sarcastic and witty (picture an April Ludgate type person), and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are my role models.

I hope everyone has a lot of fun with this challenge :)

message 221: by Dora (new)

Dora (doraguzman) Hi everybody!

My name is Dora and I'm from Illinois! I'm definitely a book worm and love reading so much I choose it for a career (reading specialist). Looking forward to this challenge and what other books I can read!

message 222: by Ash (new)

Ash (alf203) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Ashley from Pennsylvania. I'm an elementary teacher so I'm lucky and get to share my love of reading everyday. I like to read a little bit of everything but my favorite genre is fantasy. Last year I got hooked on graphic novels and I'm excited to see what I discover this year. Can't wait to start this challenge with you all!

message 223: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee (ashleeg) Hi! I'm Ashlee, and I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mom, and I currently live in North Carolina. I went a few years without reading any books that weren't for work (ex-teacher), but now, I've jumped back into reading in 2015, and read 29 books (plus, 54 chapter books I read aloud to my kids) last year. I'm excited to read even more this year. I read a lot of non-fiction (parenting/homeschooling books), but am really pushing fiction this year, YA, dystopian, and graphic novels being my favorite.

message 224: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle (goodreadscomfrumious_reads) | 2 comments Hey everyone! I'm Gabrielle. I have been to 10 different countries, teach spin and circuit training classes at a gym, and I have a booktube channel, FrumiousReads () and I am currently on a huge quest.

I am aiming to read one book a day for the entire year of 2016, which yes is as crazy as it sounds. I am posting daily reviews on my wordpress blog which is linked in my profile and am also posting weekly updates on my youtube channel.

I'm really excited to join this group because it gives me one challenge a week to add to my schedule and really pushes my boundaries as well and gives me new goals to work for. And I'm excited to get to know everyone here!

message 225: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Wow Gabrielle, that is probably the biggest challenge I've seen so far, you're very courageous (and have a lot of free time ;) ). I'm going to check your channel out, I love booktube.

message 226: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Harrison | 19 comments Is it too late to join? I have already read three books. I am trying to figure out how to set everything up now.

It looks like we must choose books ahead of time?

message 227: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Harrison | 19 comments I see others have just joined, so I will jump in.

I'm Kirsten. I moved to Seattle from Huntsville, AL in April. (Diehard Alabama football fan here!)

I joined paperbackswap.com in the middle of 2014 and started to read and keep track of it.

I was a homeschooling mom up until this school year. My kids are 16, 15 and 11. I am still at home now, but thinking of going back to work part-time.

I love to be challenged to read new things, so I am excited to read the discussion about what others are loving.

message 228: by Zaz (new)

Zaz | 2969 comments Kirsten > of course you can join now! Last year we had late joiners who did a shorter challenge or used the books they read before, when they fit. It's very early in the year, so you won't have problems. Planning is not an obligation but it's fun to do it and to look at what others are reading ;)

Thank you so much for checking out my channel! It definitely is a challenge but it's been going really well so far. I'm actually a day or two ahead? Which is awesome! I'm hoping to keep that up. If you have any book recs or anything like that then please let me know! I'm definitely trying to stock up on as many books as possible!

message 230: by Laura (new)

Laura | 4 comments Hi!

I'm fairly new to 카지노싸이트 and this group and I am still a bit lost... I will try to participate and read as much as possible!

I have always enjoyed reading, as a child I was a real bookworm. Unfortunately now I don't seem to find the time and/or the motivation to read. That is why I signed up to 카지노싸이트 and this group; I'm hoping the reading challenges will pull me back into a good reading habit. My

My plan is to read at least 52 books this year. So far so good!

message 231: by Amber (new)

Amber Hi!

I'm Amber. I use to enjoy reading, but then I went to grad school and couldn't find the time (or energy) to read something outside the standard textbook. Now that my student days are behind me, I'm looking forward to exploring some new books and using this group to keep me on track with my reading goal.

message 232: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Hi everyone! I'm Bea from the Philippines. I love reading books in random genres depending on my mood. Mostly, I read YA/NA / Adult Contemporary Romance

message 233: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (cozyuptocrime) | 58 comments Hey everyone, I'm Stephanie from California and I just joined this challenge. It's my first one! My goal with the challenge is to read outside of my comfort zone, so I'm trying new genres, authors I've never read, and basically books I wouldn't normally pick up. I'm a youth librarian and I read a lot of YA and children's books, so my goal is to read more adult literary fiction and classics, as well as genre fiction like sci-fi and mysteries. Super excited!

message 234: by Michelle (last edited Jan 18, 2016 11:52PM) (new)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Hello to all you wonderful new members! Glad to have you with us. Please, jump right in and have fun. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any.

message 235: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Hi! I'm Darlene and I am excited to join this group! I love the book topics and the idea of reading 52 books in one year! I may be able to get this done with the organizational help of the topics!

message 236: by Anna (last edited Jan 23, 2016 09:40AM) (new)

Anna | 9 comments Hello :) I'm Anna and I'm from Poland. I participate in such a challenge for the first time. I usually did only general yearly goodreads challenge. I really enjoy creating my 52 books list and I already feel more motivated to read the books that have been on my tbr for some time now. It is also great opportunity to get a bit outside of my comfort zone.

message 237: by Leona (new)

Leona Hi everyone! My name is Leona and I joined this challenge a few days ago. I live in New Hampshire and this is the first time I've done a group challenge. I'm looking forward to participating and finding some great books to read!

message 238: by Kim (new)

Kim Hi! I'm Kim from Kansas. I am new to 카지노싸이트 and am loving this site! I read avidly as a child and young adult but got away from reading literature and adult stories as I moved through career and motherhood. To remedy that, several years ago I started a book club. I've always found the hardest part of the book club process to be choosing books that are good enough to suggest to others. This site is great for assisting in that process! Before joining this group, I'd set a goal of 26 books for the 카지노싸이트 2016 challenge. That is nearly twice what I read last year and I will probably stick to that number and do a new book every other week.

My favorite genres are mystery, historical fiction, and biography.

message 239: by Janice (new)

Janice Dublanko | 10 comments HEY!! I'm Janice...I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...mom of 4!! I love reading, am starting a course to learn Japanese and am a complete planner addict!!

Looking forward to this group...and this challenge!!

message 240: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) | 626 comments Hello, I'm Gail from Pittsburgh, PA USA. I found this group in a very roundabout way. I found the challenge on a thread from someone I didn't even know and did not recognize it. I read the list, really liked it, so copied it and added it to the rest of my challenges. When trying to research "A previous suggestion that did not make it into the list", which totally baffled me, I found the group (and the answer to my question). Glad to be here!

message 241: by Zaz (new)

Zaz | 2969 comments Haha Gail, it's a strange way to end here, but a nice one too! This category totally doesn't make sense outside the group :)

message 242: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Welcome to everyone just joining us. Glad to have you with us!

Serena.. Sery-ously? (serenacolouroutsidethelines) | 8 comments Hello everybody! I'm Serena, (almost) 26 from Italy.. I know it's a little too late (ten weeks already gone!), but can I join you?
I could do a "Around the year in 42 books".. Or I could use some of my 2016 readings :)

Anyway I graduated last july in oriental languages, having studied arabic: I'm studying to become an italian teacher for foreigners!!
I l'm an ecletic reader and I don't usually choose my books by genre.. I just need a good plot and a good writing! :D

I am a obsessive-compulsive Harry Potter fan and I collect " Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone" in all different languages :D

I really hope I can join you :D

message 244: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5 comments Of course! I bet you can catch up too! I'd say join us at this week and you can do the others if you complete the 42!

message 245: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mich2689) | 484 comments Hi Serena! Definitely try to fit your previous readings from this year into the challenge categories. You don't have to do the challenge in order. This way, you might be able to do all 52 or close to that. :)

message 246: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Welcome to the group!

As Michelle said, you can definitely try to fit what you've read so far into some of the categories. We also included some quick reads that may help you catch up (short story, novellas, short classic). But no worries if you have to shorten the challenge! :)

Serena.. Sery-ously? (serenacolouroutsidethelines) | 8 comments Thank you so much girls!! So happy!
I'll try this evening, thanks again!! :)

message 248: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 168 comments Hi! I'm Rebecca from regional Australia
I've always wanted to read 52 books in one year but that goal always seemed so daunting to me. This year however I thought 'I'm going to do this'. Being currently unemployed I have already read 26 books this year so no matter how busy life gets and how much my reading rate slows down for the rest of the year I should accomplish the 52 :)

message 249: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Hi girls, it's always nice to welcome newcomers! Don't put too much pressure on yourselves or to much importance in rules, we're here to have fun! :)

message 250: by Anne Katrin (new)

Anne Katrin | 44 comments Hi! I am Anne Katrin from Stuttgart, Germany.

I just discovered this group this week and the list with categories you put together looked really interesting so I jumped right in and posted my plan for 2016.

I have been trying to read 52 books every year since I joined 카지노싸이트, but I always struggled not to get bored with my own choices. This challenge already helped a lot. It reminded me of all the great genres out there I have been neglecting the last couple years.

Since I am starting late I just matched some of the books I've already read since January to the list and will try to catch up. I am really excited to see what everybody else is reading - so many great ideas and recommendations.

My favorite genres are dystopia, romance, mystery and crime, fantasy, the classics and non-fiction.
