I am Francesca, I live in France and I am Italian.
I did the 2015 challenge but since I don't read fast, I couldn't finish it!
My goal for the 2016 challenge is to do better than in 2015... let say 30/52 books =)
I don't respect the week order but I jump from a week to another following what is inspiring me at the moment (and also considering which book on my shelves I didn't read yet!).
I read every kind of books and I hope this group will help me to discover new authors!!!
I like to read books in the original language when it is possible.
I am looking forward to exchange with you =)

just a few questions about how it works for 2016.
If I understood well, this year we will have to "declare" the book of the week in the "Progress Posts" topic and aswer the question and at the same time create a topic on the book in the A-Z session. Is this correct?
Thank you for your asnwer.

Progress Posts are to collect all the books read for a category and have some brainstorming about why we chose the books, etc. It will be better to post the book just before starting it, as the questions are designed as "before reading", but doing it after or during is not a problem :)

Progress..."
Thank you =)

Hi everyone, I'm Sara :) I've been doing a different group's challenge (SRC group), but after 3 weeks with it, and 19 books read, I'm utterly exhausted lol. I love the concept of that group but not the pace. I'm very happy to see that it looks like this group is very similar (task orientated), but much more laid back in the amount of books we're expected to read. 1 book a week sounds reeeaally good right now lol!
I'm 37 years old, a Michigander, and I love to read just about everything-I have very eclectic reading tastes!
edit: I have one question-I'm a bit confused by the A-Z section, are we supposed to be doing the weekly tasks alphabetically or something? I'm not understanding how that section ties into the 52 week challenge? Could someone clarify? Thanks!

Thanks!
Thanks!

My name is Sandra and I’m from Germany.
This is the first time I joined a group on GR. I made the Popsugar Reading Challenge on my own (still 1.5 books left to read), but I thought it would be more fun to do the next challenge in this group.
I’m a bit stuck in my “comfort zone” and this challenge will be a good chance for me to read some of the books I wanted to read for some time but didn’t and to discover new authors.

I enjoy mystery, some young adult, comedy, and historical fiction, as well as biographies.

Hi Derek, we can be new together :) I took a peek at your profile and very cool about being a published music composer! My 11 year old daughter plays piano and violin, and she drives her instructors batty because she'd rather be writing the music than actually playing lol. At this point she wants to be an elementary music teacher, but I can see her doing something with composing or maybe orchestra down the road. She lives and breathes music :)

I love historical fiction, crime mysteries, autobiographies, and fantasy (:

I read 90+ books this year (11 more days left of 2015!), and hope to make it over 100 next year.

I was looking for new reading friends and I just found you!
I finished the RC 2015 yesterday so I can't wait to start a new challenge on 1st January. (:

I want to read this one!
My local book club is reading Maze Runner (the main book)

I've stumbled upon this challenge on Twitter and I thought it was so great that I decided to give it a go. I read mostly YA and Classics but I'm trying to discover new genres like Historical Fiction and Fantasy.
I hope I can manage one book per week with my very busy schedule (medschool, heh). Well I will try my best.
And now I will go and try to discover the group a bit. I've also put my list together and I'm going to post my plan for 2016. Really looking forward to next year's challenge !

It's great to see so many new people to the group! We even made it on Twitter ;)
Welcome everyone!
Welcome everyone!

Welcome everyone!"
Thanks Laura. That's great news! :)

I want to challenge myself for 2016 and get back on track. Nice to meet you all! <3

My current favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, children's books and classics. Nice to meet you all!

I read... well anything really, I can't imagine myself sticking to only a couple of genres.
Nice to meet you all.

I'm really glad I found this group in time for the 2016 challenge.
What I like to read usually depends on my mood, but I find myself enjoying sci-fi and fantasy most of the time.
I'm a very big procrastinator, so I hope this challenge will push me to read more than this year (I haven't even reached my 40 books goal).

I was a part of the 2015 group. When I started a new job in February I kind of fell off the reading bandwagon until July. I've been trying to get caught up on my 2015 challenge but will not quite be able to fill all the categories this year. A few of the books I read didn't fit into any of my remaining categories either. I'm looking forward to trying again in the 2016 challenge!
It's difficult to follow the weeks in order when I'm getting most of my books from the library, so I'm really looking forward to the new A-Z discussions, I think it will be easier for me to participate. :)

I guess just the whole thing in general. I don't usually plan my books before I read them or set a monthly TBR or anything like that - I usually just pick up whatever's lying around and appeals to me - so the whole idea of it is very new to me. How would you suggest going about the different challenges (i.e. is it easier to do the easier challenges first, go out of order, etc?)

The idea behind the whole challenge is to challenge yourself. For some people, reading the list in order isn't feasible so they jump around. Others like the added challenge of reading in order. Either is fine.
Some people pick long books for their challenge topics. Others pick shorter books. Some like children's books and YA books, others like to read weightier classics and complex literature. Either is fine there too.
The point is that you've really got to find a niche that works for you because everyone's challenge is different.
When it comes to mapping out your books, that isn't a requirement and some people just don't. Some members read what they like and then pick a topic that fits the book they just read. Or they search for a book that matches a topic as they go. Or maybe they did make a plan but they don't actually follow it and end up making it up as they go along. That was me in 2015. I was all over the place. ;)
If you don't like having a plan for your books, you can fly by the seat of your pants and we'll still be here cheering you on! :)
If you do decide to create a plan for your reads before-hand though, the easiest and probably most used method is to go through your to-read shelf and match books you already want to read to the tasks. If you get stuck on a particular task (can't find a book), we have this suggestion thread with suggestions for each week or you can use the recommendations thread to ask for recommendations. As I said, this is a very helpful group and I'm confident that our members would be all too happy to make recommendations and help you find the perfect book.
I hope that helped! If not... keep asking and I'll keep trying to find a solution for you! :)

I did a basic GR challenge in 2015 based strictly on numbers of books and when looking back through it, I realized I really need to branch out my genres and start digging into my enormous TBR! I average around 200 books per year - that I record, that is - but I know I could easily push myself further. I can't think of any genres I dislike, but I tend to get stuck in one genre and read a ton of one type of thing at a time. I gravitate toward Historical fiction, Historical nonfiction (especially the Civil War), Natural History, and Romance (mostly m/m). I'm really looking forward to expanding my reading horizons in 2016 and hope this challenge will help me do that! This looks like a great bunch of folks and I look forward to some stimulating discussions!

I'd like to try new things for 2016 and I hope this challenge will be fun for me and help me go through my TBR!

The way I see it, if the book is listed on GoodReads then our younger members have access to it. No need to censor titles and covers they could easily stumble upon themselves. *shrug*

I am for Ontario, Canada. I participated in last years pop sugar challenge with this group. It was fun, with so many good books to add to my TBR from everyone's lists.
I never had a TBR list before last January. It has now grown to over 300 because of last years challenge.
I am sure this year will be just as great with more people to meet, books to discuss and an ever enlarging TBR list.

Super keen to direct my reading a bit more this year rather than floating randomly from book to book...and ending up with a huge "to-read" bookshelf in my mind!
I haven't used 카지노싸이트 for much more than listing my "read" books. I think I follow the idea of the discussion boards ok, and am looking forward to hearing other people's thoughts.
I have put together my reading plan ... but what do I do with it? Do I add all these books to a bookshelf on my profile, setting them as "to be read"? I would also like to post my reading plan in the 2016 reading plan section - how do I make the titles link to the titles in the goodreads library?
Sorry...rookie!!!
TIA :)
Elise

To add links to books and authors to your plan, you need to be on a computer or a browser on mobile devices (not apps). On the right corner above the comment box, you'll see a "add book/author" link, you just click on it, enter the name of your book in the search bar and, when you find it, click on "add" :)

The rule is here because we want discussions all the year and not 52 threads x number of members posted all in January. We check every new thread posted to add the cover or author, if necessary, so 2-3 at the same time is manageable :)
I hope it helps!
