20: A book with a first name in the title

Currently working my way back through the series. My prediction? It was his sled!

I just finished Henrietta's War: News from the Home Front 1939-1942 for this prompt.
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Ooops, I already read the book so I know what happens. But there is a sequel to this book, so I'll predict that in the sequel Henrietta goes to Germany and kicks Hitler's butt! : p

I predict Alice is going to die. Depressing, but I've heard the book is good.

I just finished this one, and it was difficult to read but I recommend it to everyone, especially those that have been touched by this ugly disease in one way or another.

This may be a cheat since both main characters' names are in the title, but I'm reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I've been hearing about this book non-stop since last year from watching recommendation videos on Youtube, and I've been meaning to try it ever since.
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I'm not very good at predicting what will happen to characters just based on a title, but I would assume they become close friends. Possibly even in a relationship together? And the whole "secrets of the universe" thing for some reason makes me think of a road trip, although that may just be because so many YA books involve road trips.

Lila
My dear friend gave me this to read. She told me nothing about it. I have read the review and see it is a kind of self-discovery type of book.
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Since I have read the review, I kind of know what is going to happen. So I predict she will eventually find her birth mother and find out why she was abandoned as a child. Hopefully, she will not learn that her husband is her brother.
I only wanted to bold the questions. Now I am screaming at everyone.

What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative! - bad things, grave, dead, ghosts, , flowers and love there always is some kind of love.

I predict Alice is going to die. Depressing, but I've heard the book is good."
I watched the movie and a little after read the book. Books are always better.

I don't know how it turns out, but I predict that the title character is going to "find himself" and the meaning of his life.

The Jane Austen Book Club - Karen Joy Fowler

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Doesn't work in this case, although it could be argued that Jane is a character in the book, she is also a person who actually existed so...

Hmm. I had no other predictions/expectations than that the love interest in this YA chicklit would be rather cuteish.

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative! I believe she is going to deal with a lot of problems that end up driving her crazy. She's going to have to deal with a lot and you're not sure how things are going to end up later on.

I read Mrs. Dalloway
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
I thought Mrs Dalloway would be a frivolous, snob and stupid woman, but this was not the case ... at least she is not stupid =)

Merlin's Tour of the Universe

What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I don't know. If this were fiction it would be easier, but because it is nonfiction it's difficult to be creative. Merlin may just be a metaphor for something, or a starting point for the story. So uncreative, I know. I can live with it :)

What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
From the sound of it, I believed the character's journey would lead her to some kind of positive self-discovery -- for both Felicia and Mr. Hilditch, the two main characters. It does lead to self-discovery -- not positive -- and certainly nothing like I was expecting.
The novel proved to be a thrilling psychological tale, in which the title character's very first action -- or "journey" -- impacts on all the characters in her world. While this novel takes place in 1992, the same kind of journey could have occurred decades earlier or could happen anytime in the future. Positively chilling.

Suraiya Jafari: An American PresidentCindy Moy
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I thought it was going to be a "cozy" when reading the summary: young woman, lawyer, Marine, Indian-American, Muslim. It was not. I was delighted to read a well written, well charactered cast of a first woman president in the not so distant future. I highly recommend.

Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I assume he is a jolly nice chap because Dickens nearly always designs his lead characters as sympathetic - and if he was going to be nasty, he would have styled him as Nicholas Nastyboots or something obvious. I expect there will be a villainous poor-hating baddie in it called Mr Smelly or Mr Bottomley.
The main thing that I am trying to work out is who these 2 fat blokes on the cover are - they can't both be Nicholas Nickelby...

I already knew what was going to happen, it was reread for me.

I received Johnny Angel by Danielle Steel in a book club swap and had to read it to review.
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Well, I already finished the book, and it was not difficult to predict anything in the book. I suppose there could be a sequel in which we see his next "assignment" as an angel. I, however, will NOT be reading anything else by this author. It is certainly not my reading taste; I need more substance and literary craft.

Zoe's Tale
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
That would be cheating! This is the 4th book in a series and it takes place concurrently with the 3rd, so I came into it knowing almost everything. (Plus, I forgot to post in here until a week after I'd finished it).

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I already own the movie, so I know what happens already. Those would have been some pretty accurate predictions!

What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative! Well he's a book store owner. Thinking various books will have an influence on his life?

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
She is a shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. I bet she ends up doing more good than bad. And Ballister Blackheart adopts her, and they live happily ever after, being good villains. And she flies them around everywhere by turning into a dragon.
I already like this pair more than the "good guys"

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I've already read half of it, but when I had just started I predicted that it's the girl's name in which the main character is going to fall in love with.

Hilarious, BTW.
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
Well, the title pretty much gives it away. What I couldn't predict was the ridiculous pranks she pulled on her friends and family!

Burying Ariel by Gail Bowen
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Ah well I already read this one before I posted in here so I can't really answer this one. lol But if I had seen this before hand I would have said that Ariel was going to die and Joanne Kilbourn would solve the mystery of why it happened. That's what she does in this series!
Rebecca
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
The title gives nothing away! But it's a ghost story, so I guess Rebecca is a ghost. I read this as a teen-ager but don't remember what happens!
Changed my mind- my book group picked a book for next month that works here and was stymied helping me with another week which Rebecca works for. SO:
- What are you reading this week? Lolly Willowes
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative! Well, it has witches on the cover and is about a spinster but the subtitle is "loving the huntsman." So I'm thinking she is going to be tired of the restrictions of spinster like and seeing a hot huntsman when out one day, she'll get into witchcraft to get love spells.

Mechanica

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
The blurp gives up quite a bit and of course I know Dexter from the tv show. I'm happy to discover a new story though.

For the Sake of Elena
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
I predicted she was killed or dead already.

Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
I'm going to predict that she changes her mind after ponderous soul-searching, and lives.

John Dies at the End
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I predict that John dies at the end.
Originally I was going to read this book for the "카지노싸이트 recommendation" category but when I saw the questions on this thread, it was just too funny to pass it up.
As far as what else I expect - this was recommended for my "dude-lit" shelf, so I expect copious amounts of toilet humor, absurd craziness, some vacant losers, and cliché male-oriented female characters, if any. I am on page 20 and so far it completely met my expectations. Brainless and brainy at the same time. Fun!

My Name Is Lucy Barton
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Maybe she dies after reconnecting with her mother. Or perhaps comes out of comma where she reconnected with her dead mother.

I'm reading a novella, Binti, and a children book, Charlotte's Web, for this week.
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Binti will fight evil schoolmates and also aliens, because it's space scifi :D
For Charlotte, I predict she'll befriend animals, driving her parents mad and they'll send her at boarding school.

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
I only started reading this one aloud with my daughter yesterday. I didn't fully realize that Despereaux was the mouse's actual first name. Since I don't have much background information on this character, I can honestly just guess that he will swashbuckle his way through giant human feet with his sewing needle and will be the sole (pun intended) reason for defeating the evil queen in Snow White.

After Anna by Alex Lake
- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative
Well I know she gets kidnapped and then returned and it sounds like she goes through some sort of change, probably not for the better.

- What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
He'll fall in love and then he'll die

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain - and narrated by Elijah Wood!
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
Huckleberry Finn rafts down a river, gets up to hijinks, and uses some racially questionable language.

Having seen the movie beforehand, I kind of wasn't expecting the book to turn out the way it did!
Carrie is very similar to how she was portrayed in the movie. So they stayed true to that. However, the ending of the book was extremely different! I wish the movie could've ended the same. It would have made it so much more memorable. The book even gave off innuendos to a possible sequel.. but King obviously never went through with that. I didn't like how the book jumped back and forth from articles that were included in the text. It twisted up the plot line and made it confusing to follow along sometimes.

What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title?
I watched the movie so I knew what I was getting myself into. I still bawled my eyes out

Thumbs up on your selection

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
What are your predictions for the character whose name is in the title? Be creative!
I predict that she will eventually shapeshift into the number three. Is that creative enough? :)
