message 21: by Nicki (new)

Nicki (luluminstrel) | 40 comments What are you reading this week?
I just struggled through my week 1 book, which was badly written and edited, so I'm picking a fun read for week 2 by an author I've enjoyed before. Hopefully it'll be much more readable!

Kingdom of Shadows by Barbara Erskine

In which continent(s) the book is set?
Europe (Scotland). I live in New Zealand so this is an easy challenge!

Is there another continent you're interested in?
I love books set in Europe as there's so much history in that part of the world. But I also love books set in Africa and that was possibly going to be my choice for this challenge if my week 1 book hadn't been so poor. I definitely want to read more set in Asia.

message 24: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Progress Post:
- What are you reading?
The United States of Atlantis
- In which continent(s) the book is set?
A fake one :) Since another book challenge I'm doing has each continent as a book, I wanted to see if I could find something a little more unique. Came across this book...the author, if you aren't familiar, does alternate histories. In this one, the eastern coast of the US is separated from the midwest/western US and sits between Europe and North America.
- Is there another continent you're interested in?
Any and all. I've been reading a book set in Australia and I'm really struggling with the slang! Africa has some beautiful places and amazing books (I'm a huge fan of Wilbur Smith, in particular). I am a sucker for anything in Antarctica. Just somewhere I would love to be able to visit. Europe is easy to find, although it's more England and very little eastern Europe, I'd say. South America and Asia are probably the two I read the least.

message 25: by Amanda (new)

- In which continent(s) the book is set? The book is set in Europe (Russia).
