30.4 - Dlmrose's Task: Beyond Comparison

Get inspired by your fellow SRC members.

Read 2 books, one from Book A and one from Book B

A list of SRC members may be accessed Here or from the group home page on the right above the polls link.
Select a SRC member and navigate to his or her profile.
Below the profile details section, click on "compare books"

For Book A, read a book from the comparison list that the SRC member has read and rated that you have on your To-read shelf

For Book B, scroll down to "See what other books you have in common". This feature suggests up to 20 of the member's books that do not appear on your shelves. Read one of the suggestions that the member has read and rated.

You do not need to use the same member for Book A and B.

This works best if you have a 카지노싸이트 To-read shelf (hang around SRC long enough and you'll have a BIG one) If you do not have books on a To-read shelf you may use an off-GR list (books-you-own, etc) to do a comparison by scanning shelves for Book A. Your Book B title should be a new-to-you title that is generated by the method in Book B

Required: Name the member(s) you used for comparison

Dee (austhokie) | 8876 comments anyone running into issues for part B when books you have read/rated are showing up as recommendations? I did mine with sheila and the first 5 books were ones that were on my shelf - read/rated

I have ran into this also OR with part B it is recommending books #3 or higher in series that I have never read or heard of :(

Bea I am finding that, for Part B, GR is listing unrated books. Can I assume that they have been read if there is no rating? Are those books eligible just because they were listed in the "See what other books you have in common" section?

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 2046 comments I'm also having trouble with part B. I have found some great possibilities for A, but then when I go to the extra 20, even for someone who compares well to me in reading tastes, there is nothing of any interest to me coming up. Often, even though both of our lists are mostly fiction, a lot of nonfiction books come up in the 20, for example. I plan to look more this weekend.

The book should be read. It is possible that the member rated the book with no stars, you can check them member's profile. But the GR algorithm could be doing something else.

Please check the settings on the upper right to make sure the common shelves are set to "all". You can manipulate the settings for the top comparison results, but I've only seen minor changes in the bottom set of results.

There are more than 2500 members.

Susan A | 1633 comments I selected my books for this task back in November. For Book B, scroll down to "See what other books you have in common". This feature suggests up to 20 of the member's books that do not appear on your shelves. Read one of the suggestions that the member has read and rated.

The book I selected is no longer comes up. Can I still read it, or do I have to choose another book and have it approved?

Thanks for your help.

ETA: Is it no longer there because I put it on my TBR?
