Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Okay gang... It's time for someone to start thinking about the next 3 month challenge! It's due to start April 1st.

Anybody have ideas? Want to step up and run the next one?

message 2: by Kari (last edited Mar 07, 2013 04:54PM) (new)

Kari I won't have time to run it :( but what about doing a challenge based on months & years? ie...

Read 1 book published in every month, year not important.
Read 1 book published each year for the past 10 years
Read 1 book published in the 00's, 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, 50's, & 40's

Bonus points if the book is set in the month/year you are taking credit for.
Also bonus for book published in current month (ie. reading book in april published in april)

Whatcha think?

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) That does sound fun!

Does anyone else want to add to this idea or suggest a different one?

(Ultimately, we will be glad to have the challenge take shape in whatever form the person running it wants!)

message 4: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (micnandec) Running with the month theme: what about books where the time of year is the same as the month? Such as reading a book that takes place during April in April?

That might be too hard, but considering Spring is the time for proms and graduations, maybe not? Just a thought.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I think it would be fun to do a color theme too at some point. Like read a book that is mostly.. this color, etc.

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) All great ideas! Any takers on running the challenge yet?

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Okay, here are the rules for this challenge:

Ground Rules and Notes:
1. The Challenge begins at 12:00 A.M. local time on 1 April 2013 and ends at 11:59 P.M. local time on 30 June 2013; for a book to count for the challenge, it cannot be more than 1/2 read before 12:00 AM on 1 April 2013.
2. This Challenge is just for fun, so make sure you enjoy yourself and all the books you will be reading!
3. All books must be classified as Young Adult or Juvenile Fiction. If you local library classifies the book you chose as juvenile-young adult, then the book may be included.
4. All books must be at least 100 pages long to count for any of the tasks.
5. Re-reads are NOT allowed unless it falls into one of the following categories: it is a book you never finished, it is a book you didn't like but want to give another chance. The goal is to try new things, not reread old ones, but if you think it fits or feel it's reasonable, it probably is; just ask. :)
6. Audio books and electronic books (unabridged), such as Kindle, all count for this Challenge. Page counts will be according to the GoodReads page count.
7. When reporting completion of tasks, please link the title and author if possible. Also include the number of pages for the first edition listed on 카지노싸이트 (as was done in the first challenge). The point-count Leaderboard will be updated as often as I am able or as necessary. If you find discrepancies in the point totals, please notify me. If you change a book to a different task, please notify me.
8. All tasks will be worth 10 points each, for a possible total of 260 points.
9. If you choose the "on the cover" option for any of the tasks, you must link the book's cover when posting.

Here's a sample post:

1. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon by Mark Haddon - 226 pages

24. Sharp North by Patrick Cave - 528 pages

Total Points: 20
Total Pages: 754

Hyperlinking the books through the "add book/author" feature is greatly appreciated.

Where would "smoke" fit in the smells' categories? I would think smoke would be an easy cover image to find.

Celeste (celeste_bocchicchio) | 88 comments How does this work when there are multiple editions of books with different covers? Does the default goodreads edition have to have the right cover?

No, as long as your edition matches that's fine!

Good question! I'm guessing pungent?? Although I think that incense smoke could be musky too. (These are just my opinions, not fact! If you feel like it fits somewhere else, go for it!)
