Hi guys,

As part of my personal reading challenge for 2013 I've decided to make a concerted effort to read more, and to branch out from my usual YA and kids' fantasy. Can anyone rec some Aussie classics other than Seven Little Australians and My Brilliant Career?

I've read and lovedThe Harp In The South (not too keen on the sequel, though), and a couple of her other books. I plan to read Swords And Crowns And Rings for the challenge.

Many thanks! :)

Michael (knowledgelost) Have you tried looking at this thread 10 Aussie books to read before you die; http://www.africa-eu.com/topic/show/8...

It has the top 50 books from the voting

Oh, I adore the first book; I'll give Silver Brumby's Daughter a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Natasha Burns | 25 comments Hi Tanvi,
A few weeks ago I read and really loved The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I just noticed it was 2nd on the list Michael linked to above.
Another Australian favourite of mine is Jessica by Bryce Courtenay. I read it years ago when it first came out, and think I might need to read it again. His book about his son, April Fool's Day, was great too
