it was amazing

The sequel to The Tainted Cup does not disappoint, but deepens the intrigue to the moral ambiguities of the Empire and the grim tradeoffs that are continually made to keep it afloat, showing how those tradeoffs manifest in the lives -- and bodies -- of its citizens. Ana and Din correspondingly deepen as characters and as enigmas. The author's note at the end is especially rewarding.
