This second in the Mavis Miller series focuses on mom burnout, mental health, soccer culture and MLM marketing schemes.
I really enjoyed discovering new layers of Mavis, thought it was good on audio and would recommend to fans of the Finlay Donovan series.

While there she meets an older lesbian woman AND Martin Luther King plus finds herself falling in love.
This had a great cast of memorable characters and strong Black women supporting one another and the freedom for women to have control over their own bodies. We need more books like this one in my opinion, now more than ever as women's rights continue to be taken away.
Great on audio narrated by Bahni Turpin and just an overall FANTASTIC read. Highly recommended for fans of books like The girls who grew big. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review....more

Tina Knowles has such a moving rags to riches story and was an incredibly inspiring, hard working and loving mother. She sacrificed a lot for her girls and worked hard to support them while also chasing after her own dreams. I especially enjoyed learning she's neurodivergent (has ADHD) and is a breast cancer survivor. It was great on audio narrated by Tina herself and a great pick for Oprah's book club even if you aren't a Destiny's Child or Beyonce fan, there's something in this book for everyone!...more

I loved this one night stand, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance between a Kindergarten teacher and divorced single dad who team up to take down the cult-like MLM group she finds herself caught up in. This was SPICY in all the best ways, had great banter, a strong, spunky FMC and relatable insights into how MLM companies prey on lonely women looking to make a little extra money while enjoying female friendship only to realize very few members actually make money and its hard to get out once you're in. I found it slow, lacked chemistry between the main characters and that there was more focus on the workplace harassment plot than the actual romance. Okay on audio but not one I'll remember or recommend even though it had a FAB cover!
