The killer was nobody really. Mason Black, the protagonist, is an ex-cop and now a PI, dealing with a missing girl case whose body is found. The signs reminiscent of an unsolved case of Lullaby Killer. While the story is fast paced and chapters are short, there's no character development really. Either of the protagonist or the killer. It's just an entertaining plot to read over the weekend and forget....more

Last few books have been very bland and boring reads. Will Slater has an X-factor and his presence always makes things interesting. However, the previous Black Force shorts he was in didn't justify his character much. This one was pure fun. Slater is in Xinjiang, Northwest China to rescue three kids who are held hostage by an Uyghur extremist group. During the course of the mission, he realises he can trust no one. Neither the kidnappers not the hostages. The action was non stop, gritty and bloody. The narration was fast. The end was a bit of a drag though. But it was pure fun. I would like to read more Black Force shorts but I think the author isn't working on any more books in this series....more

However he ended up getting caught and injected with the same virus. Mitch is now after every person who was injected with this virus and end their life. There was no backstory of the protagonist, neither of any other character. The story moves at a breakneck speed and there's no room for fillers. A good weekend read....more

Slater is more exciting character than King, so I'm hoping this series will hold its excitement. After the events of Jason King series last book, Slater is in Yemen, looking for trouble. He did find one when a local boy is killed by tribesmen who are keeping a dangerous secret, which is deadly bio weapon. Slater must find out the bio weapon and it's target before it's unleashed. The action is non stop, the narration immersive. Few characters but all had their roles to play. Will pickup next soon....more

The good thing was that the chapters were short and the story moves at a breakneck speed. There are no fillers. At no point the story drags on. Frank Doy, the protagonist, is attacked by 2 hitmen - a man and a woman. When the woman fails to kill Doy, her partner attempts to kill her. But she kills the man instead. It's followed by an unlikely partnership between Doy and his assassin wherein they crack the mystery behind the hit job. There are certainly far better books in this genre. Pick only if you're looking for a quick easy read....more

After that, it's just weak storylines with a plenty of action scenes filling the pages. Corrupted is no less. Jason King is sent to Russia to save kidnapped WHO workers who are held hostage in an underground mine for a sinister purpose. While the premise is certainly exciting, the suspense was very weak. Talking about story alone, it didn't require more than 200 pages but the author stretched to about 400 pages. Still you'll enjoy it if you just go in for a fast pace mindless read....more
