Captain is asked to return her to relatives in San Antonio. As Captain and Johanna bond, the Captain has a big decision to make; follow through on his word or raise Johanna himself. I thought I would have liked it more; I like historical fiction, the premise was interesting and the book is short. All are plusses in my book. Instead I found myself feeling neutral about both the characters, the Texas setting and the story itself. What I did like was the author's descriptive and lyrical language. Fans of westerns should like this one....more
