I've used it since the late 1980s. What makes it so special is that it's written in easy-to-understand language whilst still covering some very complex and intricate states.
I love the comparison between similar, but different remedies e.g Elm Vs Oak is explained as: Elm = Work is a vocation. The state of exhaustion is temporary Oak = Work is a duty and the exhaustion may be chronic.
I almost always dowse for my remedies so whilst I don't use that bit much myself I have found that friends and newbies to the BF Remedies comment on it as very helpful.
I also like the supportive affirmations and the nice clear bulleted list of "Symptoms due to the energy block" for each remedy.
If you only buy one book - I'd recommend this one. I have dozens and yet this is the first one I reach for when I need clarity....more

I want to be clear here - this is not ... I want the next book in the series NOW! I do ... but that is different. And it's not because of some horrific and pointless cliffhanger - this book finishes properly. (Yeah!)
The feeling that the cartoon above captures perfectly could maybe be described as "No! No ... I am just NOT finished with these characters ... I am simply not ready to part with them ... I *need* the book to continue"
I wish I could explain why ... but I can't.
I've enjoyed several of Maria Snyder's series. I still think Poison Study is one of the best books I read in 2005. And even 14 years on I can still remember where I was as I read key parts of the story. So much so, that when I re-read it, I still smell eucalyptus and orange from the trees that surround that wonderful reading terrace.
I actively disliked her Inside Out series - so I'm not a fan girl. I enjoyed the whole Glass series - but I wouldn't rave about it - just good stories and nice characters.
The audio was nicely done btw.
I think that in some of her books Snyder has some magical way of accessing parts of your subconscious and planting her stories and characters in special little places. In the same way that Anne Bishop can.
For me, this was one of those books.
Oh and it's not that I don't think there flaws in it. There were - just that none of them spoilt my enjoyment of the book.
PS - The whole 'overly young adult' (YA) theme which is uber-stressed for the first bit of the book - is there for a reason. And yes, it bugged me slightly especially on the audio, but because it's genuinely needed as part of the plot - just get over it until you complete the story....more

The ones that you read and think Well, yeah the hero/heroine did get *slightly* less stupid by the end? This isn't that book! This is an actual coming of age book and best of all Jasmine is 26 years old - which is a much more realistic age to 'come of age' than ... oh hey .... I don't know ... 15? 16? ?!?
Terrific story - it's one of the best books I've listened to this year. Very slow burn but terrific characters, interesting background - just awesome. The kind of story that stays with you for a long time. Loved it :) ...more

I did something that I think I've only done about 4 times in my life and started straight back at the beginning of the audio! The last time I can remember doing the same thing was at the end of the movie The Sixth Sense. (You know ... "I see dead people") and the reason wasn't because there are any similarities with that movie but just because ... (all spoilers withheld)
I absolutely loved it. I thought I hadn't read any RPGLit ... however it turns out that Ready Player One is RPGLit too and I loved that.
This is the first book in a series and the audiobook is brilliantly narrated - 22 hours FLEW by!
Terrific characters, excellent world-building and a gripping story line. At the risk of offending the author ... a sort of Harry Potter for an older audience - but in a good way :)
Recommend it highly
PS I noticed quite a lot of the reviewers seem to know the author or the comp that this book was in. I don't. Simply bought my copy as it was recommended by a good friend - and it is actually very good indeed :)...more

On top of the excellence of the mystery(ies) the way in which the author is deepening and broadening our understanding of the various characters is really wonderful. Can't wait for the 3rd .. but, of course, I must :(
I HIGHLY recommend this - but do not start with this one - you really need to begin with the first in the series.

(Not a spoiler) where, when discussing how to write the case up, they decided to involve the massacre in Utah to obscure some of the real facts. It really made me smile given how much grief that original decision caused for Conan Doyle 😀

It honestly feels like she can't be bothered to take any time with the characters or their relationship. I was a little nervous after the last one (wildflower cottage) which I really didn't enjoy very much. But the queen of wishful thinking is brilliant. It joins A Spring Affair, Teashop on the Corner and the Sunflower Cafe as an absolute favourite listen. Colleen Prendergast did the usual terrific job on the narration - she does does being an extra dimension to the books. Oh and the Daily Trumpet (now with a new editor) is even more hilarious than ever! Recommend it highly - if you haven't read any of her others - this is a good one to start with....more
