This was one of those books I was force fed to read in high school, however I didn’t have my usual aversion to it simply because I was being forced to read it accompanied by an unfavorable teaching style, which I think says a lot. F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite authors as an adult and his prose make up some of my favorite literary quotes to date. I need to do a reread, but my initial feeling thinking back to this book after so many years is that I can’t help but feel devastated for Gatsby and see his story as an example of how love can fulfill so much in someone’s life, but it can also be their downfall....more
