This one was different because there was no Lydia and Kitty, and you know, that worked really well.
Mr Bennet is a widower, yes I liked this, no Mrs Bennet being a nervous wreck. Instead Mr Bennet is calm, he used to be a parson, now he has inherited Longbourn. He does wonder, maybe he should remarry?
And then we have Lizzy, Jane, and Mary being good friends and sisters.
Darcy is an old friend who Bennet has not seen in a while and of course he will fall for Lizzy when he sees her again. Bingley will also show up. Everything will work out well.
Yes there is some drama. Some are angry that Mr Bennet got Longbourn, even though it had been stolen from his family. Caroline does show up and we know she is annoying. Wickham shows up, and we all know he is a real piece of work.
Great narration by Harry Frost. He does well with his female and male voices. He manages to fit the tone of the era...more

In this one Lizzy gets a bad feeling and manages to rescue Anne de Bourgh from the claws of Mr Wickham. He was a creep as always, and even more so this time. He will get what he deserves.
I liked Anne in this one. She shows some spirit at last. Her mother is tiresome, but dunno how but even Lady Catherine grew on me.
Darcy gets his head around, Bingley is nice as always. Fitzwilliam did not get a lot of room, but hey no everyone can find love. And Miss Bingley was horrible as always.
After some Wickham drama, the stage is set for romance. And everyone lived happily efter after.
I liked how this one turn out. Mary was nicer here. Lydia and Kitty will learn a thing or two. Even Mrs Bennet got calmer.
They are always a joy to listen to. I liked the narrator. I am unsure if I have listened to him before, but he did a good job with male and female voices. He set the mood...more

Darcy was, well, he really is proud, and so is Lizzy. This book shows some of their worst qualities and hey they belong together. They are good people, they just need to stop and care for others too.
I really like how Kitty comes across here and her romance made me all awwww.
And Anne finally finds someone to care for too.
The unlikable are still Miss Bingley and Mrs De Bourgh. Ugh, horrible people.
A fun variation where Anne takes control over the destiny.
And narrated by the fantastic Ruth Urqhart. She is awesome and I always enjoy her books...more

Here Mr Bennet inherited some money, and kept I do love my Pride and prejudice variations. I can´t get enough of them. Because they are all different.
Here Mr Bennet inherited some money, and kept it hidden until he died. Yes, not cool. We all know they were scared of what would happen if he died, as a certain Collins would inherit. And now they suddenly have money, all daughters still unmarried, and what happens? Well Jane takes charge. I really liked her here. She got the responsibility and she took it, and she took control. This is not the way to run a household. Everyone must change!
Some things change, some things never change. We always need a Mr Darcy, and he does make some mistakes before seeing the error of his ways.
I liked it. I especially liked Jane. I even grew to like Mrs Bennet. It all worked out so well.

This one starts out darker than most, sickness ravages the Bennet family and left standing is Lizzy and Kitty. Luckily Longbourn is not longer entailed so she becomes the mistress of Longbourn.
I liked this take on things. Lizzy was different, and when it was just her and Kitty things turned out differently too. For example she met Darcy and they did not clash. Something grew there instead.
The author also perfected the other characters. Yes I could totally see Bingley like that. Could Caroline be more of a bitch?! What, omg Mr Collins, yes yes. Wickham, grrr, he is totally that.
It gets really nailbiting at the end too, something is about to happen, and I was on the edge of my seat.
Fun, different take on Pride and prejudice. I just can't get enough.
Good narrator, I am not sure I have listened to her before, but I liked her style. It felt fitting with this universe

Smallpox is ravaging England, and everyone we know ends up at Longbourne. And there are actually some smart people in the village so Bingley and Darcy are quarantined for 2 weeks.
Which gives us time for Bingley and Jane to patch things up. For Darcy and Lizzy to fall in love. For Caroline to find her heart. And the author does gives us happy ending for everyone in the epilogue, and I did like that.

But at the same time the author does seem to have it in for her. Poor Kitty!!
We never saw Lizzy and Jane. Mary got her moment, Lydia will get hers, and Kitty is everywhere. Shaping the Bennet world.
A philosophical and psychological one. A slower one. Lots of thinking and talking. Not a lot happening, before the end.....yes he has it in for her.

The Bennet family has a magic wardrobe that can transport you into the future. And that is what Henry Fitzwilliam does. He is the grandson of Lydia and he uses it to go to 1915. Of course this is not something you can decide. The wardrobe chooses where to send you and he wanted valour so this is what he gets.
We get to see him in the war, and then when he recuperates. There is meets someone that will later haunt him after he goes back to his old life.
Ack, yes it was only a novella! I need his whole story now and that is book 3, I will get to that soon enough.
Short and good. A prequel to book 3 and it will leave you wanting to get that book.
She is doing a good job narrating these books. They really transport you there...more
Mary is Mary, preachy, somewhat unlikable, and suddenly she realises that too. Why is she always judging other? So when she is the eldest Bennet girl Mary is Mary, preachy, somewhat unlikable, and suddenly she realises that too. Why is she always judging other? So when she is the eldest Bennet girl left in the house she sets out on a journey of self discovery. And Mary is so much more than just Mary.
But I am getting ahead of myself. The Bennet family owns a magical wardrobe that can transport you into the future. The wardrobe also has a lot of rules.
Even if the whole time travel thing is there beyond the horizon, this really is about Mary finding herself, re-connecting with her family, finding love, and becoming a beacon of hope.
There is also hints of other events. Kitty's book, Lydia's book, and more.
This was an interesting concept. The wardrobe is obviously secret, like could you imagine what Collins would do?! And lots of family members will use it so more is coming
I really liked Mary in this one, she was sure shown in a new light and it still fitted her essence.

Oh poor Darcy! He learns she does not care at all and he despairs.
But this is a romantic story after all. She will learn that he is not all that he seems, and he will see that he deserves love too. They are the sweetest and I liked this angle. They had to work for it.
PP variations for the win! They never disappoint.

Lady Catherine the Burgh was nice! Yes, I know I was shocked. She had suffered losses and now wanted to take the poor Bennett sisters under her protection as they also had suffered losses.
Mr Collins was still an asshat by the way.
But that is not what was different, no, there is to be a houseparty and suddenly a lot of other Austen men shows up. Mr Ferrars, Henry Tilney, Colonel Brandon among others. And even though this was pride and prejudice so manages to mix in Persuasion, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey for some Gothic mystery, and Mansfield Park. Very well done.
Lots of drama, new love interests, a Darcy that is really shy, a Georgiana who is writing a book, and a mystery.
A fun story since I never knew where it would lead me with all these new people in it. But at least one thing is constant. Lizzy will always get her Darcy in the end.
Stevie Zimmerman was a great narrator. Considering the cast of character she did well with different voices. You always knew where you had everyone. She was a really good fit for this book and made it truly enjoyable....more

Yes I admit, this was book 2, and yes I could read it without knowing, but I am so curious about events! Like how Lizzy and Darcy fell inlove here. Why Darcy does not speak to Bingley or Fitzwilliam anymore?! How Jane ended up marrying a Duke! How Kitty married Wickham, and Lydia is preggo by him, damn, scandal!
Though it was not as sweet as some. The Ton is right bastards towards Lizzy. Calling her a harlot, not just snobbing her, but saying mean things, men and women whispering. Because they all think she seduced Darcy so he would marry her. She has a hard time. He has a hard time. But they do have each other.
And then at the end something happens, not to them, but something, and oh, now I want book 3 (which is not out), but I am so curious! I want to write spoilers but can not *sobs*

Elizabeth is the lady in this one and heir to Pemberley. Darcy is a bookseller who made good money via good friends. They meet, they do not have any pride and prejudice issues, but there is another thing. Collins, ugh, what an ahole. He is the danger here.

In this one instead of writing a letter Darcy went away, married, had a daughter, wasn't that happy, and tried to forget her.
Lizzy's dad died, she went to live with Jane, and then she decided to become a governess. Which is not the best position. It is not being a servant, it i not being one of the upper crust. Instead men can try to take advantage and you will be ruined for future service. Then she gets a job at Pemberley.
He will obvi realise he still likes her. She will finally start to fall for him. There will be drama, and there will be a happily ever after.
I enjoyed this take and kept rooting for these stubborn, proud people. (Bit sad Colonel F did not show up!).

Death in the shape of Graham comes calling when Darcy almost dies. Graham wants to see why Darcy is so happy and decides to stay for a week.
What we have is a happy Lizzy and Darcy. But a Darcy who is fearful since death is near.
We also meet other characters that are dear to us, and not so dear. Lady Catherine is still angry and wants to cause mayhem, ugh, I despise her.
Other characters have their own troubles, one person made me disappointed, one made me happy.
I can't really say a lot other than yes Death is visiting.

Trisha is the proud surgeon. But her family ties are not the best because of something that happened 15 years ago.
Arghh, Wickham, he was loathsome in PP, and here she is a bitch. Evil calculating bitch. It was a very fitting modern Wickham, smile and dagger in the back.
DJ is a great chef, but his sister is really ill and he quit everything to take care of her. But he needs money. He is the prejudice then, and Trisha does make it easy for him. Of course I did like Trisha, her pride in her work was justified. Of course she could have seen that other do just as important things. And DJ just saw a rich girl, but she was so much more. But that is PP.
They clash, a lot! They argue, he despise her, she starts to fall. There is Wickham lurking and spreading lies.
I so want to read about Trishas brother, all I am saying. But I am thinking her cousin and younger brother might get their books and not him. Also her other cousin was really fascinating!
Back to the story. It does follow PP, so you know they will have their fights and reconciliation, and slowly fall in love. They just really have to work for it.

They have to interact during a flood. Darcy is quite the hero, and Lizzy has to agree.
They will fall in love, have to struggle for their love. Mr Bennet is quite the d*ck. Wickham is up to his old tricks, and omg Jane has quite the love story of her own and I applauded that at the end. Well done, well done!
