A dragon without it's rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead.
i knew i would love this omfg. the amount of five star reviews i kept seeing with everyone fangirling, i knew i would devour this book. and i did. this might be my favourite read of the year, so far. i haven't read a book this consuming and enjoyable in months.
i need this book to be tattooed onto my soul pls and ty. this book was so addicting. i kept reading and reading and it kept giving and giving. i loved everything about the book. the world-building, the characters, the dragons, the plot, the action, the trials, the tension, the romance. the way this book gives such divergent and hunger games vibes is immaculate.
violet
"you're a far cry from the trembling girl who stood up in the courtyard and tried to mask her fear after parapet. i approve." "i wasn't asking for your approval."
violet. is. such. a. badass. it's been a long time since i've read about a fmc that isn't weak and fragile. violet is powerful, strong-minded, admirable, relatable, confident and intelligent. she was so determined to get stronger and become a better dragon rider. i loved her character growth so much, it was so rewarding to see her become stronger, and overall better. she didn't give up on herself and kept pushing herself to the best of her ability. she wasn't a pushover, which is so fulfilling to me because it's very rare that i see a fmc stand up for themselves.
violet is very inspiring, she'd be such a great leader. the fact that she isn't afraid to speak her mind and own her feelings is breath of fresh air. she had loads of amazing and supportive friends that would defend her in a heartbeat.
xaden
i can't help it. i smile. this brilliant fucking woman is mine.
xaden, you are one fine ass, charming, sarcastic, strong, mysterious, cocky bastard. look, i do love him, okay? but i also kinda don't? he is such a great wingleader, he always said the right things and helped as many people as he could, even if it doesn't seem like it. he was very encouraging and deep down kind hearted. i loved that he would push vi to do her best instead of baby her, like dain did with all the "you don't have to use your powers if you don't want to" bullshit. also, when i tell you the phrase, actions speak louder than words, it's true!! the little things he did for vi had me head over heels. but i just couldn’t connect to him.
vi & xaden
"i don't deserve you." his arm curls around my hips and he hugs me closer. "but i'm going to keep you all the same."
i love them so much together. the tension had me giggling and kicking my feet. the chemistry was chefs kiss. they're are so perfect for one another, they just get each other. the build up was so good i was on the edge. but as much as i love them, i do have to say their love was a bit sudden. i mean they were training on the mat one second and then the next she says she loves him? it was a bit too quick for me. throughout the 70% there was sexual tension, obviously, but that was it. whoever said this was enemies to lovers, you are a bit fat liar. it's one of those "i loved you the whole time" enemies to lovers. like no ma'am i was expecting REAL enemies to lovers. lowkey jack had potential in the beginning but then i hated him.
tairn & andarna
"don't leave me." "never. i'll burn him alive before he takes a single step towards you."
the best part of the whole book was violet and tairn's relationship. their banter is unmatchable, they are so hilarious together, i was historically laughing ever single page. the sarcastic comments they both made to each other was so amusing.
tairn's golden eyes are narrowed in a glare on dain, and his teeth are bared, dripping saliva as another growl rumbles. "you're a menace. stop it." i say. "tell him if he harms you, i'll scorch the ground where he stands." "oh, for fuck's sake, tairn."
tairn, gosh i need him so bad. he was so protective, nonchalant, entertaining, charismatic, scary and powerful. he gives off the vibe "touch her and i'll kill you scorch you into flames" the amount of times tairn had me giggling, squealing, blushing, laughing and swooning is so questionable. i don't need A tairn, i need TAIRN. he can get it ...more

holy shit! first time reading a book were the serial killer is a female. lana is such a sick bitch and i love it! i am so deeply in love with her and in love with what she does. just reading her murdering her victims is so captivating. they deserve every single scratch they get. she might think she’s not perfect but she has such a kind heart. the series keeps getting better! that fucking cliff hanger bro. omg. i knew it was coming, kind of, but i wasn’t ready at all !!
okay so hadley… she’s getting too suspicious for my liking and her glaring and eyeing lana, she needs to watch herself and mind her own business.
i love that logan is so clueless about who the killer is, i swear their first instinct is that it has to be a guy because of the way the kill has been done and the body is to muscular and heavy for it to be done by a woman. logan and lana’s relationship growth is so cute. i love it when logan speaks about her and how he’s head over heels for her. and when their together it’s all romantic and their both so infatuated with each other.
also, don’t judge a book by its cover because at first glance it doesn’t look all that interesting but trust me, it’s so amazing.

”my angel made sure he’ll never hurt us again, my angel saved me. she’ll always watch over me. she is right now.”
when i tell you this series just keeps getting better and better, im not joking. me reading through hadley’s pov gave me so many mixed emotions, from admiration, to holy shit, to wtf. serial killer vs serial killer. oh you do not understand how invested i was while reading this part.
”to defeat a monster, you have to be twice as monstrous. to love a monster, you have to share your soul.” -lana myers.
this whole book was just me gripping the sheets 24/7. i was so drawn to the plot and every time lana spilled the beans about herself to hadley and logan showed up, that had me second guessing myself with things. i love hadley and lanas love/hate relationship. let’s appreciate her for not snitching or anything and sticking by lana's side.
lana’s past is so traumatic and chaotic it breaks my heart. you’ll find out a lot of information from her past in this book more than the others so far. im routing for her. she’s so strong and fierce. it’s so refreshing to read about a badass fmc who doesn’t rely on others. i fucking love jake sm as well! they both only have each other and them working together was the best thing. the part we’re she was in the media box in the van had me cracking up.
”one place. anywhere you could go. where would it be?” lana asks me. “hmmm, greece.” “where would you go?” i ask her. “anywhere in the world?” she asks. “anywhere.” “i’d go greece with you.” and this is why im so fucking obsessed with her.
and their love grows! with each passing minute, the stakes of lana being caught rises! them being together and their journey throughout the series is so interesting. the smut wasn’t that good but there are a few scenes in each book. they're literally so close to finding out everything. they're connecting the dots and nearly there. again…another cliff hanger. im shitting myself. help.

THIS SERIES IS OF TO SUCH A GREAT START. i have been putting this series off for so long for no reason and i regret it so much. the heroine is serial killer, killing a list of men who wronged her in the past, but then she meets a fbi profiler and they start dating. and he’s investing in a case we’re shes the victim!!the tension, so fucking hot. they’re so adorable. lana is such a badass. she’s so smart and inspiring.

lana: is it wrong that i hope you’ll break some rules, find my address, and do just that?”
i can already tell this is going to be one of my favourite series. when they first met!!! it had me going crazy. they both profile each other and he’s so impressed and intrigued by her from that one meet that he can’t stop smiling and grinning.
“right now, there’s not a lot they’d do to me if they find out i was sharing details with my girl.” a smile spreads over her lips for some reason. “that excites you?” “you called me your girl.” she says quietly. “as far as im concerned, you are.”
cuteee.
i loved the albert einstein quotes at the beginning of every chapter. they’re all so true and relatable. also, that cliff hanger, omg. im officially so captivated. as i read over the last couple of lines my jaw was on the floor.

god that ending really fucked me up. ngl i did get teary eyed and a few tears may or may not have escaped.
And she checked, down inside herself, under her skin, but she couldn’t find it. The scream was no longer there, waiting for her. She’d beaten it.
— pip went through so much in this book. i felt so bad for her and i wish i could reach through the book to give her a hug. she could never catch a break because she'd always feel obliged to find (view spoiler)[jamie (hide spoiler)], be the one to do everything and the podcast was a lot of pressure. good girl, bad blood showed so much more of her emotions and feelings and it was so raw and i felt so much. one minute pip would feel like she understood herself but then a second later something would happen and she'd lose her herself again. also, nat and pip bonding and crying together? the most purest thing ever.
“You don’t have to go to the trial,” she said. “Yes I do. I’m not just doing it for you. I mean, I am doing it for you, I’d do anything for you.” He dropped his gaze. “But I’m doing it for me, too.”
— ravi made the book so much better than it already was. we needed less connor and more ravi. he's so adorable and sweet, my heart aches for him. the fact that he connected to the case more than you think is so heartbreaking. he was always there for pip and put up with her random outbursts. plus, the angry love confession? fucking dead.
pip and ravi are the best. their little moments and teamwork were the sweetest. their relationship is the cutest thing ever and i can't wait to read more about them in the next book. when they told each other they loved one another? i fainted.
now onto the reasons why it isn't five stars ↴
unpopular opinion: i liked a good girl's guide to murder more than this book. first of all, i didn't find it as thrilling and exciting as the first book. don't get me wrong, good girl, bad blood was very entertaining and it did keep me on my toes but i feel like since agggtm was on two different, but connected, cases there was more happening and more clues and evidence unravelling. i feel like since stupid ass (view spoiler)[jamie (hide spoiler)]just went missing it wasn't so enjoyable. yes, it was serious but since we knew andie and sal were dead in agggtm we were finding out who and not where.
spoilers from this point on. secondly, i, kind of, expected the plot twist. i did not expect stanley's involvement but charlie? yeah he was so suspicious from the every beginning. the part where i definitely knew it was him was when pip found the note in the locker. i mean, come on, we're pulling an elliot ward? i was so spooked when pip, connor and ravi was texting him and he knew it was them. i was so shocked, i had no words. also, the wifes involvement? her being the one on the phone to jamie? creepy if i do say so myself.
lastly, the whole chunswick (however it's spelt) felt rushed. i mean, i know the whole purpose is to build up the story and then find out why and whatever but it was mentioned randomly and so quickly.
— i felt so sorry for stanley :( i was so confused bc everyone's updates were all saying that stanley didn't deserve it and i remember him being a dick in agggtm but he deserved so much better. he just wanted to be loved for who he was. he tried helping jamie by putting a mattress in the bathroom and he gave him meals everyday. and the ending? he protected pip until he died. he just wanted to be a good person. he didn't want his father to be a constant reminder to him.
spoilers ended. i loved this soso much, and i'm still thinking about it after finishing it nearly two weeks later. i hope max rots in hell but i'm intrigued to know what happens to him, if anything does, in as good as dead. also, ant and lauren? what fake ass bitches. anyhow, i'm really scared to read the last book. everyone's updates on it is giving me anxiety i need to read it rn.

holly jackson, what type of shit are you taking? and can you give me some?
her writing is so beautifully written and it truly hooked me in since the very first page. the format, the incredible words, the storyline, everything. i knew from a couple of chapters in that it would be one of my favs. this is my first ever ya mystery thriller and it did not disappoint!! i had high expectations going into it and it definitely lived up to the hype.
i’m not sure i’m the good girl i once thought i was. i’ve lost her along the way.
— pip was such a smart, independent and strong character. she was also somewhat relatable. i love her so much. first of all, how in the hell did she figure it all out? she’s so extremely clever it’s concerning. i loved her passion for trying to solve the mystery but i feel like she had no personality other than uncovering the truth about the murderer. plus, what happened to her friends? they were mentioned once or twice. cara, her best friend, was such a lovely and caring friend but she was also really energetic and open minded. but what about connor, ant and zach? i know kill joy was a novella but they seemed really close.
”hello, trouble,” he said softly. “can i talk to you?”
— ravi was such a sweet and adorable character. i felt so sorry for him about his brother, the racism and people always judging him but i’m glad he eventually found out everything in the end. he was so bubbly and funny and he didn’t let the case bring him down. he was really determined to help pippa prove sal’s innocence, yet he was so supportive and understanding with pip. he didn’t really have character development but that’s okay because he’s already so interesting and great.
i loved the short chapters how pip got straight into business and started on the case at the very beginning. it was really entertaining to read and find out about each suspect and friend/relative. i was really focused on what they said and how it could be suspicious towards the case. not only that but i love the interviews and the production logs so much. i feel like they were such a huge part of why i loved it so much. i feel like the first person in them were so addictive since we got to see pip’s thought process and feel more connected to her character, but either way, i loved it regardless.
”pip wished she was strong enough, but she’d learned that she wasn’t invincible; she too could break.”
the plot twists were INCREDIBLE. i was questioning things every. single. page. i was so confused, for all the people that saw my statuses- you know, and i was so conflicted and torn between who the killer could have been and overall just a complete mess. i would be a shit detective because i was not even close to guessing the killer.
honestly if you read this and think you know anything, trust me, just wait because you most likely don’t. there was so much going on and i couldn’t keep up but i was living for that shit. i was trying to figure out one thing and then another clue pops up when i’m still stuck trying to uncover information about the previous clue and i’ve never been more confused in my life.
the last 20% was so fucking captivating, my god. istg i couldn’t stop reading it and it was 4am. it was so unpredictable and so shocking. i was full on staring into space questioning my existence. BUT WHAT DID THE DOG DO TO YOU?? i swear i was so mad when i found and i knew what was gonna happen to the dog but i’m still pissed. but can we talk about how holly jackson is so fucking clever? like how do you come up with all of this?
”you will bring the rain down on them, pip.” “i will.”
— pip and ravi are so perfect. yes, nothing really happened between them but they are just such a perfect duo. and when ravi knew something was wrong and came back after she said she was dropping the case >> i loved the little moments when they laughed until tears were escaping and joked around about the case. i loved them working together, breaking rules and going undercover. it was such a ride to go on and i was on the edge of my seat. ravi, the nickname “sarge” will be forever engraved on my soul.
”but sometimes remembering isn’t for yourself, sometimes you do it just to make someone else smile. those lies were allowed.”
i already want to read this book for the first time again. the notes and messages really got to me- i was scared for my life. ’stop digging, pippa’ hello? she was in the woods with her friends and when they spilt up she comes back to find that-
i am so obsessed with this book and i can’t wait to see what happens in the other two! apparently the third book is the best so i’m itching to read it. overall, this was such an exhilarating, seat-gripping, thrilling and an exciting read so wth are you doing if you haven’t read it yet?

i don’t hate tamlin nor like him so i don’t know what to feel. he’s not as bad, right now, as everyone says he is but he’s just so boring to read about. feyre and him together are just so bland and uninteresting, but i blame that on tamlin.
feyre is so interesting and i love her already. she’s so strong and she has such courage. she’s feisty and holds so much power, she doesn’t even know. i was so on edge while reading the scene when she went against the middengard wyrm and she was so smart for doing what she did. rhys being the only one to bet that she’d kill it had me squealing. feyre’s sisters had me rolling my eyes fr. everyone says nesta has such character development but i honestly don’t see me liking her in the future. poor cassian tho, i know he’s gonna be fine as shit too.
”i could do nothing as his mouth met with my cheek, and he licked away a tear.”
rhys is so fucking hot. when they met during the calanmai, they had so much more tension than tamlin and feyre had during the whole book. when feyre was under the mountain, rhys and her had so much tension, i can’t wait for the second book cause i know that’s really when shit goes down.
i love lucien too!! while reading the first half of the book, when feyre was living with tamlin, i was kinda rooting for lucien and feyre to do something. he’s so snarky and the comments he makes make me fold. his confidence had me on the verge of something because there’s no reason for him to be so fine when we can’t have him. and he’s so funny, like how can i not love him.

this was a cute, quick read and i liked it quite a lot. it took me a month to get into but i liked it nonetheless. it was hilarious and chaotic. this book isn't really anything ive read before. they're supposed to get married but they hate each other and have a certain amount of time until the wedding! it didn't really hook me in until 50%
— naomi was unapologetically herself and she's quite relatable. she doesn't gaf, she's funny, crazy and weird. throughout the book i did find her a bit rude since she never considered nicholas' feelings and she never really felt grateful, which was irritating since nicholas was trying so hard. but she did grow on me. she did have character development and started realising things.
he tucks a finger under my chin and lifts so that my mouth closes. "so beautiful," he mummers, eyes glittering.
— nicholas was such a sweet, softie that just wants to be loved. he was patient, caring and protective. he expressed his feelings while naomi was still trying to figure out how she felt and i adored him.
the banter was entertaining and their pranks were funny. after the war fest and they realised their feelings, they became closer and inseparable. they're powerful together. when they teamed up on melissa and his mum especially. i fucking hate his mum. she's so controlling and such a beggar. she never gave nicholas space and always expected him to do everything for her. and her criticizing noami was disgusting.
