This has lead to him having a small but close circle of friends, and being the target of harassment and violence from classmates. An unexpected encounter with his principal leads Adam to discover that there is more to his condition than he ever imagined.
As the first book in a new series, time is taken at the beginning to develop the character and build the world. I personally appreciate this, as it is impossible to appreciate character development without a strong feeling of where they began. The story flows like a great rollercoaster, building slowly and steadily at the beginning, next up with a few dips and a little curve, then the bottom drops out, you're thrown for a loop, and come to a screeching halt wanting to go on again. All great coasters have a soundtrack, and so does this book. Approximately 10% of this book has a dedicated soundtrack to listen to while reading. This was my first time reading a book that had a dedicated soundtrack and I thought it was an interesting concept which I would recommend to other readers....more
