nadia is sick. and she really doesn’t want to be. when her doctor sets her up with his cousin, she’s not expecting marco to sweep her off her feet. and he’s just as broken as she is.
this was such an emotional and angsty read. the two of them really are two broken people fighting against finding love when it seems pointless. it was supposed to only be for may, after all.
the setting, writing, and journey these two went on was so poignant and i truly could not put this book down. i loved watching them slowly unravel for each other. the third act breakup felt super realistic for them as a couple and i loved how it ended.

when mollie inherits her deceased & estranged father’s ranch, she runs into cash, the foreman who has been running things. the two of them hate each other on sight and the tension was absolutely delicious!! per her dad’s will, she has to stay on the ranch for one year to snag her inheritance. but she didn’t expect to fall in love with ranching or cash.
I loved this sm. the tension between the two of them was sizzling and had me so giddy. AND THE JEALOUSY SCENE. idc if i’m toxic but give me a jealousy scene and I will eat it up every time. plus when it leads the two of them to finally acknowledge their feelings for each other? nomnomnom.
cash is a big acts of service guy but alsoooo a words of affirmation guy. it’s like he was written for me. every time he called mollie honey I actually melted. and the two of them can fucking communicate!!!!! and I appreciated it so much. given the trauma and shared grief the two of them had over the passing of mollie’s father, they really worked through their feelings and were there for each other every step of the way. and I loved that and them.

jaymes is a traveling psychiatric nurse and she lands in missoula with three roommates. there’s one house rule: don’t sleep with your roommates. but jaymes and fitz can’t help themselves. they fall hard but everything possible keeps getting in their way. he’s a wild land firefighter and she’s a traveling nurse, and neither want to give up their dreams.
aside from the forbidden/forced proximity deliciousness, this book had so many layers and twists I did NOT see coming. I thought I was picking up a firefighter romance but it was so much more than that. THE ANGST absolutely destroyed me in the best way.
I loved watching him melt for jaymes.

this was such a dark and engaging read!! scarlett has been killing men who do bad things for 16 years. carly is a student who just started at the same university. as the two of their stories progress, I was truly on the edge of my seat the whole time.
layne’s characters are so impressively written. she can get into their heads and capture their voices and it really is so engaging. the suspense and twists had my jaw dropping and rushing to turn the pages.
big recommend if you love feminist and queer stories about angry women fucking shit up for the asshole men around them.

Rune and Gideon are enemies playing a dangerous game. They both need information from each other but revealing themselves would mean death for Rune.
The tension in this is so gooooood. They’re both constantly conflicted and the cat and mouse game literally kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns were unreal.
I did find it a bit predictable but I still had a great time. Can’t wait for book 2!! ...more

god this book hurt SO GOOD!!!! angsty romance books are my favorites and katie’s debut was promptly added to the list.
leigh is finding her footing afgod this book hurt SO GOOD!!!! angsty romance books are my favorites and katie’s debut was promptly added to the list.
leigh is finding her footing after her parents’ separation and feeling restless at her ad agency job. she applies for a spot in a mfa program and, to her surprise, gets accepted. the surprises keep coming when will, her crush from high school who rejected both her writing and her 6 years ago, is also in the program. when their cohort is up for a prestigious fellowship, they try to stay away from each other. they try to just get it out of their systems. it doesn’t work.
I adored this book so much. leigh is messy, imperfect, and so god damn relatable. will is soft, quiet, and unreadable. but in the little moments in their interactions, we get to see him. and how much he cares for leigh. there’s an undercurrent of nostalgia woven into the pages that hits so hard. the yearning between leigh and will had me giddy, frustrated, sad, happy, and every emotion possible. the two of them are perfectly imperfect and their journey was angsty and beautiful and healing.
leigh’s mental health journey was so well done. she is THE pathological people pleaser and her therapy scenes were so real. her character growth had me misty eyed and I loved every second of it. will’s journey with his insecurities and challenging relationship with his dad hit so hard. it was so complex and moving and I would protect him and his softness forever!!
this book is easily my favorite of january. the two imperfect poets messily falling in love and figuring their shit out are gonna stay with me forever. the two of them saw each other, learned to be vulnerable with each other, and refused to shy away from the hard stuff. even if it hurt. even if it was scary.
thank you so much to forever for the arc!

I usually love politicking in books but this was like soooo heavy on that. there wasn’t too much action because of that. I started kinda getting bored around the 80% mark. then the romance starts to really kick in, but then shit predictably hits the fan.
the character development was really good. vaasa went from an afraid, volatile, and full of grief. by the time the book ends, she’s strong, forgiving, and so fucking strong. HOWEVER!!!!!
the fucking ending?????? the cliffy?????? I am beyond raging rn. ugh ugh ugh ugh.

kit and julia were best friends growing up. on a dare, they got their tarot reading and found out they’re twin flames. and right before they go away to college, julia admitted she loves kit. and kit freaks out and ghosts. now several years later, julia is a wedding planner for a remote wedding in the dessert, and kit is the tarot entertainment and what follows is a super sweet story of the two of them finding their way back to each other.
i adored this book so much. julia was so strong and knew herself and what she wanted. kit was slowly learning and gaining confidence to be who she is and to love out loud. the premise was super fun and I’m realizing I love a chaotic wedding as a backdrop for a love story (see: the ex vows and tell me not).
my one problem with this is a common thing that happens in queer love stories: third act coming out drama. it’s very specific to queer stories and I just wish there was another way authors would set up a third act craziness. it really cheapens the story for me.

Deadly trials of hell, a witch out to save her sister, and a mysterious ghost bargain made for one hell of a book.
When Ophelia’s mother dies, her andDeadly trials of hell, a witch out to save her sister, and a mysterious ghost bargain made for one hell of a book.
When Ophelia’s mother dies, her and her sister, Genevieve, need a way to pay off her debt. And when Ophelia realizes that her dear sister ran off to phantasma- the trials of hell- to do so, she does what big sisters do and goes after her.
But Ophelia needs help to survive, so she enters a blood bargain with Blackwell, a phantom living in the manor without his memories. And so begins the deadly game.
I started this last night, and could not stop thinking about it. I NEEDED to finish it. Blackwell and Ophelia were addicting af.
I’m a slut for trials, and the stakes were so high in this. I’m not a horror girl, but this book was spooky, gorey, and so much fucking fun.
The plot was engaging, the romance was scorching, and I am thoroughly obsessed.
Ophelia’s character development and strength were soooo good. And I cannot even begin to describe how obsessed I am with Blackwell. His mouth? I’m honestly surprised this is trad pubbed bc holy shit the spice.
I can’t wait for Genevieve’s story!!! I’m counting down the minutes.
