I threw it against the wall.

Then I scooped it up, and cradled it gently in my arms.

It was terrific, really. Heart wrenching, indeed. But then the ending!!! Oh God!! THE ENDING!!!! Why??! Oh why not give me a happily-ever-after?!???!! Am I asking for too much?!?!

Kelley Anne I just finished rereading The Book Thief. It is probably one of the most amazing books I've ever read, but how many times can you have your heart broken by one book!?!

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ This one... Harry Potter was terrific. Last one... Series of Unfortunate Events... AWFUL!!!

message 3: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Ok, "Series of Unfortunate Events" - something to stay away from. Noted.

message 4: by Kasia (last edited Jul 23, 2009 12:40PM) (new)

Kasia Kelley Anne, I know what you mean about The Book Thief. I fell in love with Rudy, and then... !!!! (You know what happens.) I was devastated.

Danielle The Book Huntress I read Private Demon by Lynn Viehl. It was a fantastic book IMHO.

message 6: by ♫ Tina ♫ (new)

♫ Tina ♫ i read Princess Mia..now I'm reading Hunger

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Danielle, I loved the Darkyn series. But I've read that Stay The Night is the last book, she isn't continuing it :(

I am reading Cindy Gerards' BodyGuards series and I am really enjoying them!

message 8: by ♥Tricia♥ (new)

♥Tricia♥ I haven't finished The Iron Hunt yet actually because its been bleh for me..

I may just put it down actually and move on to the next, its taking me THAT long :(

message 9: by Lori (new)

Lori I read all 4 Deviations books over the weekend and they were fabulous!!!

message 10: by Yz the Whyz (new)

Yz the Whyz I finished Deidre Knight's Red Fire, the first book in her new series Gods of Midnight. Solid start...interesting premise, intriguing characters...she did not disappoint.

message 11: by Holly (new)

Holly I finished Edge of Desire by Rhyannon Byrd. It was awful. I wrote a review for it and my only excuse for my longwindedness was the fact that was it 2 am.

Kasia ♥Tricia♥ wrote: "I haven't finished The Iron Hunt yet actually because its been bleh for me..I may just put it down actually and move on to the next, its taking me THAT long :("

Oh no! The Iron Hunt is on my to-read list. I consider myself warned.

message 13: by Emily (new)

Emily The last book I read was She, Myself, and I by Whitney Gaskill. I WANTED to like the book more than I actually did. The characters were all catty and ridiculous. The plot was one that would have been worth far more than the 2.5 stars I gave it if the characters would have been better.

Danielle The Book Huntress It was a great review, Holly. It's nice to find out why a reader didn't like a book.

Uniquely Moi I am so sucked into the Darkyn books. I left them at home but when I go home next weekend, I will probably grab all the ones I own and buy the rest of them.

message 15: by Kati (new)

Kati The last book that I read was "A Habit For Death" by Chuck Zito, a gay mystery. And it was awesome! :)

message 16: by Kasia (new)

I hate when that happens, when I WANT to like the book but I eventually end up being sorely disappointed :/

Lovely avatar, btw.

Kasia KatiKat wrote: "... a gay mystery. And it was awesome! :)"

Intriguing. AND highly original.

message 18: by Lily (new)

Lily The last book I read was Found: A Hammer Novel by Sean Michael. Loved it!!!

message 19: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey I just read Graceling and it was great!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Shawn Lane's At Long Last. It's not very long, but it's an awesome story. The sequel comes out in a few days.

At Long Last by Shawn Lane

message 21: by Kasia (new)

Kasia I read Graceling not so long ago myself - not bad at all, I agree.

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary Honeycutt Just finished The Time Traveler's Wife and it started out slow for me but by the time I was half-way through the book, I was totally committed. Loved it!!

message 23: by Marguerite (new)

Marguerite Oopps, answered in the wrong spot.

Hmmm, good question, I tend to read several books at the same time.

It was either "Enchanter's End Game" by David Eddings, "Ex Machina: Smoke, Smoke" by Brian K. Vaughn, or "Hot Cargo" by Nikki Bennett and Ariel Tachna.

And I'd have to say they were all pretty good reads.

message 24: by Natsroshan (last edited Jul 23, 2009 01:21PM) (new)

Natsroshan Where The Heart Is (Bay City Paranormal Investigations 6) by Ally Blue.
Amazing serie!!!

message 25: by Kasia (new)

Kasia No harm done Marguerite :)

message 26: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne the last book I read was A Carnal Agreement a hot between the sheets Regency Romance with a touch of murder mystery. I really enjoyed it.

I only ever read one book at a time 'cos I can't cope with multi-tasking.

message 27: by Ann (new)

Ann Noell I'm almost done with BloodFever by Karen Marie Moning, I will finish it tonight. I like the book, but I'm afraid Mac is turning into the same thing she is trying to kill.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) I just finished Undead & Unemployed by Mary Janice Davidson...I was not overly thrilled with this book....I guess I was over the whinning/overly spoiled "Queen"...Was not my favorite read but I can at least say I finished it....

message 29: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I just finished Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward yesterday. I didn't think I'd like Rehv, but now I'm a little in love with him! I can't wait for the next one.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" I finished Ironside the other day and loved it. I'm really enjoying Holly Black's world and her characters. A wonderfully dark and engaging YA series.

message 31: by Annvelwis (new)

Annvelwis I just finished The Defiant Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. I'm totally hooked on the series, heh...

message 32: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose Just finished Spell of the HIghlander and loved it as much as books 4-6 in Moning's series. Before that I finishedLady in White and loved that as well! I think it helped that WiW was an audiobook and I could keep listening when I would otherwise have had to stop reading to make dinner or do dishes, etc.

The books I'm reading right now will likely fall in the so-so category.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I have hit a long string of incredibly average books. I am so freaking BORED.

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector I just finished Kissing Sin #2 Riley Jenson Guardian series by Keri Arthur. I like this series Riley is a bit (adventurous..lol) so to speak but it is very different then what I have been reading lately so I am enjoying the series.

message 35: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Reacherfan, I'm so sorry. Hope your bad streak will end soon.

Jamie, been there, done that. Keri Arthur is being often classified as UF, but it is so much more, MUAHAHAHAHA!

message 36: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Just finished and didn't like The Bachelor. But the book I finished the day before was fantastic - Men of Men. About an diamond mining expedition in Africa - fiction, of course. 710 pages.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Well Stakes and Stilettos was good. That's like 1 out 7. SIGH! Thank heavens most came from PBS!

message 38: by Gale (new)

Gale Just finished What Happens in London by Julia Quinn. 5 stars, I was sooo happy to read this book after the last 4 I was about to give up on her.

message 39: by Kathy (new)

Kathy I read Silver Falls yesterday. As I said in my review, I gave the book four stars because it deserved more than three but it really should have been 3 1/2. The story caught my attention and kept me engrossed but the main girl in the story...I seriously, seriously wish I could have smacked her.

message 40: by Auntee (new)

Auntee Just finished Comanche Magic by Catherine Anderson--loved it and the whole series.

message 41: by Wendy (new)

Wendy The last book I read was Lora Leigh's Mercury's Way. One of the best books of her Breed series.

message 42: by Nikki ♥ (new)

Nikki ♥ Last book I read was Deadly Gift by Heather Graham, it was so-so.
Right now I'm reading a dud.

message 43: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Hate duds!

message 44: by Holly (new)

Holly Last book: The Scent Of Shadows by Vicki Pettersson
A bit boring. Gave up on it about half way through.
Current book: Behind Closed Doors by Shannon McKenna
Terrific (so far)

message 45: by Glori (new)

Glori Last Book: Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh.

I could not put the book down once I started to read...good thing it was Saturday. I can not wait for the next book!

I am about to start Huntress.

message 46: by Mary E. (new)

Mary E. Last book finished: Storm Born by Richelle Mead (love her!) And just in time for the sequel Thorn Queen. Although I was a tad miffed because I had preordered it for my Kindle at $5.59, and the day after it was delivered Amazon began offering it for free. Sigh.

Currently reading: Bloodring by Faith Hunter (loving it so it's going fast); also The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (they're not bad, but they haven't grabbed my interest yet so they are slow reads for me so far). Can you tell I'm cramming to meet my July challenges? I don't think I'm gonna make it, think I may have overreached... but since I'm basically just competing with myself (the way I look at it), I can afford to cut me some slack. ;)

~Peace

message 47: by Annie (new)

Annie Last book finished: Lover avenged and it's taken me nearly the whole of this month, off and on, to trudge through it...

message 48: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I just finished Island Girls by Rachel Hawthorne. Very very very good book. I love her writing style, and the overall plot was just great.
I recommend it!

message 49: by Keta (new)

Keta I;m reading three right now.
Red Fire, Deidre Knight, so far, so good.
Secret Surrender, Madeline Hunter, I like her writing
Forbidden, Helen Kirkman. I'm done with it actually. I liked it, my friend did not. I thought the chemistry between the thrall (slave) and the rich woman sizled.
Not a lot of erotica, but her writing is worth the read.

Keta
