"Grief is love made homeless, that one needs to live with grief and force oneself on."

What a wonderful mystery. It was full of gruesome murders, scary kidnappings and constant suspicion of everyone around you. I loved the characters - both Hess and Thulin. They weren't terribly 100% likable characters but they were easy to understand and try to feel compassion for their own struggles. As we were getting closer to the end of October and Halloween was around the corner, I wanted to read something darker. When I saw the date on the first page was 31 October, I knew it was the perfect book to read.
I was also hesitant to pick up The Chestnut Man because I have a heat or miss with the Scandinavian authors or, more specifically, with the translations of the Scandinavian books.
It is my first time reading a Danish author, and I believe it won't be the last one, especially the books ...more
