There are so many good lines from this book. It's tragic, but hopeful; deeply relevant still today. ...more

My daughter was studying WWII, so I decided to have us read The Hiding Place aloud as our spiritual book for the term to complement her studies. I had read this story of a family, specifically of two sisters, who are sent to a concentration camp before and watched the movie and remembered how much I had been moved by their story. Corrie Ten Boom has a beautiful, biblical example of forgiveness she suffered despite enduring evil committed toward her and her family. Her message hopefully comes through loud and clear for those who are seeking to grow in this area. While it’s not written by theologian, it’s written by a simple woman with a powerful message who simply loved God and desired to serve him, and there is no higher calling.

This is one of the most powerful book that I have ever read. The hiding place is raw, deep and leaves you with a question: what about me and God?
The story of Betsie and Corrie takes you inside the concentration camp suffering mingled with hope (against all odds) and makes you realize how does human worst side look like. Yet God loves us.

I definitely recommend this book as one of those "to be read once in a lifetime"
