I have mixed views about this book. The beginning really hooked me but it was slow and boring for quite a while after. I kept reading as I don’t give up easily on books and I also purchased the second book with the first so I wanted to finish it. I gave it 2 stars because I liked the dragons, however, so much still not answered. Xaden & Violet’s love for each other was way too rushed they were enemies that “hated” each other then suddenly in love (makes no sense). Their dialogue together was so I have mixed views about this book. The beginning really hooked me but it was slow and boring for quite a while after. Xaden & Violet’s love for each other was way too rushed they were enemies that “hated” each other then suddenly in love (makes no sense). Their dialogue together was so very cringe at times. It would’ve been nice to see their relationship develop more as there was no genuine, romantic development of feelings for each other. Violet was over the top about Xaden being hot to a point it was so annoying and rediculous I also don’t get why that would be her main focus when the training she does has many, many, many characters we know nothing about die. It also didn’t make sense if they needed dragon riders so badly for war, etc why did they make the training so difficult that many were killed. It’s mentioned way too many times that Violet is intelligent and smart but she let Dain touch her face soo many time knowing what his power is… she also is a bit hypocritical gets angry when Xaden keeps secrets but she’s allowed to lol… The amount of deaths that were happening in the book as much as they were sad it was hard to feel for them as majority of these characters were just mentioned and were not properly developed in the book. There was one character death that hit me hardest but I saw coming thanks to insta spoilers and the twist didn’t surprise me at all. I saw the twist coming a mile away that for me it really wasn’t a twist lol The dragons were the only thing most interesting in this book I wish there was more on their backstory. But, it lacked so much there are way more questions than answers and world building and character development isn’t done right if written well this could’ve been a really good series. Dain is by far the most annoying character that is easily dislikable from the beginning I never liked him. I hope the second book is better. fuck rebecca yarros and her pro-genocide stance. her morals are as weak as her attempts at world building and writing dialogue that isn't juvenile. ...more

Honestly this book was kind of just mid imo.. I wasn't really properly engaged until i was about 400 pages (around 70%) into this book. I'm not sure if it wouldve been better if we knew more of Xaden's pov throughout but I know that would've been kind of difficult in terms of plot

Plus, some stuff I was reading just made me cringe and I do NOTTT cringe easily😭 I'll still read the rest of the series as it's a wast ...more

i am convinced crack was sprinkled in every line of this book because i could not put it down.
the world building was impeccable, i felt like i was there myself. xaden and violet? adore them. violet is a badass, genuis, caring and powerful fmc and i love her. from the moment i read that she swapped one of her shoes so rhi wouldn't slip and fall i knew i would love her, a girls girl. she fr figured out who she had to fight and poison them beforehand so she would win. an evil genius.

3 or 3.5 idkkkk, i will say i enjoyed this and the writing is great but it lacked smth,, and i don’t think the story needed to be this long. but i love violet and xaden and that reveal at the end gave me chills so i will! be reading the next one 😌

I have no words whatsoever. Fourth Wing is the best book I've read this year. To sum up how the story is, it's somewhat a cross between Eragon, Divergent, Game of Thrones and How to Train your Dragon!
The writing style, the storyline, the suspenses, everything was too good!
Can't believe I didn't come across this book before. Finished those 500+pages in 2 days! ...more

I preferred this book to the first. I really enjoyed the read. I will say, it is exhausting reading the same Violet/Xaden fight over and over and over again. Cannot wait for the third book.
