Colleen Hoover My mother says Coal-leen and my husband and most of the rest of humans say Call-leen. I honestly say it both ways, it depends who I'm talking to. So you can pronounce it however you want because I don't notice. I answer to either.
Colleen Hoover I lead such a boring life. I've been married to my high school boyfriend for 22 years. I live in the same town I grew up in. We live in the middle of nowhere. Like so far in the middle of nowhere that we can't get pizza delivered to our house. Maybe that could be the plot twist for a good thriller. The book where a pizza delivery man shows up with pizza to a house that's outside the delivery zone...

Colleen Hoover I've never read Manga, but my boys LOVE Manga, so I'm very familiar with many of the storylines and characters. I just don't have a lot of time for hobbies outside of this career, but maybe one of these days I can take a vacay and get into it.
Colleen Hoover I did sell the film rights to Verity a while back, but that doesn't mean it will come to fruition. I've sold a lot of film rights that eventually reverted back to me if the producers couldn't get the project off the ground. I'm hoping this one works out, though! I think it would be fun to see Verity as a movie, so hopefully one of these days I'll have something to announce on that front.
Colleen Hoover Yeah, I guess whatever moves the story along the best. There have been times I've started a book in dual POV and then went back and changed it if I feel the story doesn't benefit from dual POV. There has to be a need to see a different side to the story for me to write dual POV.
My upcoming novel, Reminders of Him, is dual POV and I wrote it this way because I wanted the reader to see both sides of the situation. And who is telling which chapter is really just left up to what part of the story needs to be told in that chapter. Hope that helps!
Colleen Hoover Thank you, Linda! I write as fast as I can. Unfortunately, one a year, maybe one and a half a year is as fast as I can write without it compromising the quality of the book, or my mental health. It doesn't help that I'm addicted to Bravo TV. Andy Cohen is to be blamed for me not writing faster.
Colleen Hoover I have a few in Spanish. How it works is my traditionally published books are owned by the publisher, so foreign editions have to be bought from them by a foreign publisher. I'm not allowed to personally have them translated, so any editions you see in other languages are because a publisher in that country saw a demand for the book and published it in that country. So it's really up to publishers in each individual country to publish and translate titles. Hopefully we will see more soon! I'll forward this request to my publisher.
Colleen Hoover Thank you! Barnes & Noble staff have been SO GOOD TO ME. To answer your question, I steal names a lot. Like when I have signings, if a reader has a cool name, I'll take the sticky note out of the book and use it. The thing about character names is that you want your characters to stand out. When readers talk about their favorite characters online, as an author you hope people know who they're talking about, so it helps for characters to have names that aren't mainstream. But I also just love unique names in general. I use baby name generators online a lot, and also poll my readers for unique names. As far as book titles, I almost always come up with the title first and work it into the book somehow. There have been a couple of times the title has changed during the middle of writing. Hopeless was originally titled "Fall together" but when I got to the point in Hopeless where Holder's tattoo ties into his past, I changed the name of the book. So it really depends on the story.
Colleen Hoover Wow, thank you! And I would love, love, love to write a mlm novel. I haven't yet, simply because there are so many authors already writing authentic, diverse and lgbtq+ books that have been overlooked in the industry for years. This industry has always celebrated the straight white author, and being a straight white author, I see the problems in my taking up space where other authors are still being overlooked. And honestly, I feel like I've taken small missteps in the past with lgbtq+ side characters I've written, so I'm trying to educate myself on how to better represent these characters. If you follow my insta stories or my facebook author page, I try to share as many authors who are writing these stories as I can as a way to support these books/authors without taking up that space as a straight white woman. I hope that makes sense. My hope is that the prejudice in this industry will come to an end and we can all write whatever we want whenever we want, but I think we have a lot of work to do as an industry. It's looking much better now than it did just a few years ago. Seeing so many books written by diverse authors and lgbtq+ authors in the 카지노싸이트 Choice Awards these last couple of years has been incredible. Readers are definitely voicing what they want to see in the industry and the industry is listening, so we just need to keep that up and be even louder, so thank you for this question. <3
Colleen Hoover Reminders of Him will be releasing January 18th! Just a few more months. :)
Colleen Hoover I'm not opposed to this. Deep down in my drafts of ideas, I have something floating around for him. It has just never been the right time.
Colleen Hoover I wish I could say it'll get easier and the nerves will lessen, but I'm ten years in and I'm still scared to death every time I publish a book. So embrace the nerves. It means you care about what you're putting out into the world. I used to tell a friend of mine, "Be nervous." That was our pep talk, because it meant we still cared. Indifference is what you should be afraid of. Be proud that you are writing/have written a book and whatever happens after that is icing on the cake. Submit it to agents or self publish, but whatever journey you take, never forget to be nervous.
Colleen Hoover Most of my books do contain sex scenes. If you want to avoid them, I have the Never Never series (now all contained into one novel) that doesn't have sex scenes. I also have the Slammed series (Slammed, Point of Retreat, This Girl) allude to sex, but it's not detailed. But I believe most of my other novels contain at least one sex scene.
Colleen Hoover I can't think of anything with that meaning, but there is a point in All Your Perfects where Graham says something about how it's hard for him to believe in coincidences when they both exist on the same planet in the same country in the same state at the same time...Maybe that's it?
Colleen Hoover I don't think it ever comes. This is called imposter syndrome. I have imposter syndrome. I think all of this is a practical joke. I just keep playing the part and you should to until someone comes and tells us it's a prank.
Colleen Hoover I don't know who this is I think you have me confused with another author. But if you want me to, I can write a book about him without doing any research on him or the books he's from and see how close I get. lolol but i'd probably get sued so maybe I shouldn't
Colleen Hoover January 18th, 2022. It's a contemporary romance called Reminders of Him.
Colleen Hoover Thank you! You know, all I read before I wrote my first novel was non-fiction. Mostly true crime. And then suddenly I started reading contemporary romance and couldn't stop. I don't have any other thrillers, really, but try It Ends With Us if you want to check out one of my contemporary romance novels. Or Layla is the closest to Verity, maybe. It's paranormal. Too Late is a book I wrote on Wattpad that you can get on Amazon now, it's all over the place. Romance, but really dark and edgy.
