Amanda Apthorpe The inspiration came from a real life family on the island of Santorini. My husband and I stumbled across the taverna after visiting the Minoan archaeological dig. It was an idyllic location, and the family - father, mother, handsome son and his young wife had us captivated. I've included a sister, and I'm sure more angst than the real family experienced.

Amanda Apthorpe The best way for me to deal with writer's block is to … write. I might labour over first few sentences, but if I keep going I usually find that I get into a flow. Writing at the same time each day also helps. The brain starts to make the connection … ok it's time to write now.
