Living under the same roof with her meddling, divorced mother, Eloise, feels like a recipe for disaster–especially when Eloise hatches a scheme to set Gigi up with the island’s charming new doctor.

Determined to call her mother’s bluff, Gigi agrees to the date on one condition: she gets to play matchmaker for Eloise in return.

I really enjoyed Gigi! She is woman after my own heart. She doesn’t miss a beat and she has a quip for every situation. I loved how she matured in this tale. From her relationships to her job situation, Gigi became strong and resilient.

Now, I did feel this story is a bit long. But it is very atmospheric and I so want to go to Mackinac Island. And yes, I learned how to pronounce it properly! I screwed it up on my TikTok video 🤦🏻‍♀️😜😂.

This story also has quite a few characters with their own story line. But the author masterfully wove them all together. Plus the narrator, Kira Fixx, had a different voice for everyone, including the Scotsman! This made it so much easier to fall in love with every character…including the Scotsman! 😜

Need a sweet tale to read on the beach…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

I love Hester Fox’s books. This one was not what I expected. I am more of a witch and ghost reader. So reading about merpeople was definitely a change from the norm. But…I enjoyed this tale.

The Dutch Republic, 1650. One fine spring day in Friesland, twenty-year-old Clara van Wieren is faced with an ill omen: a whale, beached and rotting in the noonday sun. But Clara doesn’t believe in magic and superstition, and this portent is quickly dismissed when a proposal from a wealthy merchant arrives, promising Clara the freedom she seeks from her mother’s overbearing rule.

I loved the setting….1650 Dutch republic! This added so much to this novel. It really helped make the merpeople and their world fit. Like I said, this is not my genre but this story is masterfully written with love, family drama, magic and history all rolled into one. And goodness, the mystical creatures add so much to the story with their creativity!

The narrator, Lauren Ezzo, nailed all these voices. And let me tell you, there are quite a few, especially with the mystical creatures. Did I say she nailed it…she nailed it!

Grave birds haunt the cemeteries of Hawthorne, South Carolina, where Spanish moss drips from the trees and Southern charm is imbued with lies. Hollis Sutherland never knew these unique birds existed, not until she died and was brought back to life. The ghostly birds are manifestations of the dead’s unfinished business, and they know Hollis and her uncanny gift can set them free.

These grave birds are not holding anything back. They are determined to make sure their story is told. And this is sending Hollis on a quest that will change the way her whole town thinks.

I love a story which has a bit of the supernatural in it. And good goobly goop…this one is definitely full of that. Add in the drama surrounding all the deceptions and this is a story you will think about for days to come!

Another unique tale by Dana Elmendorf! I read In The Hour Of The Crows a while back and I found it a fascinating read. And this novel is right up there with it. It is creepy, eerie and mysterious all rolled into one.

Need a story about lies and deceptions with a mystical aspect thrown in…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

Rikki Thunder, twenty-two-year-old drummer for the scorching new ’80s metal band Whyte Python, is about to have it all: absurd wealth, global fame, and a dream girlfriend. But an unwitting role as an international spy? That was definitely not part of the plan.

This is truly one of the most 80s things out there today. I enjoyed this novel. Is it quirky…absolutely! Is it far fetched…definitely! But did it take me back in time…undoubtedly! All the music and band references took this GenXer down memory lane.

Then there is the action! Y’all this book is more action packed than I expected. There were places I was on the edge of my seat wondering if Rikki Thunder was going to come out alive!

Then there is the humor! I laughed out loud quite a few times. Honestly! There is one place in this book where Rikki says “A map!” And in the context of the situation…I literally busted out laughing and I am still laughing! Reminded me of some stupid 80s movies. And with the right actor, this book would make a great movie

Wil Wheaton….OMG! He is fantastic as the narrator. He nailed every quip and made the 80s music come alive.

Need an all around good story…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

And for the record, when I was trying to find a background photo for this cover…I just couldn’t do a snake..nope nada!! Gives me the shivers!
