My love for the world and characters created by Morgan is no secret, I have read Blood Oath so many times I lost count and I can guarantee that while I impatiently wait for Book 3 – Twisted Soul I will be re-reading Shadow Heart as well as stalking her on social media in encouragement.
I received the ARC copy early Sunday morning and it took all of 3 minutes for me to cancel my plans and start binge-reading. I have since re-read Blood Oath and Shadow Heart in order. I had an absolute ball reading. This is a world that I don’t think I will ever tire of, even knowing that there are only 2 more books… I will live in denial.

Crypt De Lune, the psychotic incubus that unleashed mania on those around him when his keeper isn’t in his sights is one of my favorite fictional characters. His ever evolving obsession with Maven was delicious as was the kings crown (so very apt). I still can’t talk about chapter 23.
Baelfire Decimus was the definition of golden retriever. Sorry, I meant golden dragon. His devotion to Maven was unwavering and he makes me laugh often, he definitely earned his praise.
Everet Frost….. Pretty boy with dimples. That is just rude in my opinion. I enjoyed his chapters a lot, I mean, we all knew he was done for when it concerned Maven from the beginning but him actually admitting out loud was great to see. Still haven’t forgiven him for the inn though, I don’t mind being petty ice boy.
I was so concerned for Silas Crane, I knew going into book 2 that his madness was only going to get worse but it was heartbreaking to read. His adoration for his ‘sangfluir’ never wavered and his trust in not only his keeper but with the rest of his quintet developed.
Maven “Oakley”, girl I will always be on your side. The reveal of what Maven is, how she became and all she has endured was executed really well. I respect that it wasn’t a ‘sob story’ that is often thrown in to excuse a characters shitty behaviour. Maven is noble, if not a little (a lot) unhinged and perfectly matched to ‘her guys’. The shift from ‘leave me the hell alone’ to ‘If you are hurt I will murder’ amused me.

“It was fun.”

“That time when we all sparred you at once. You weren’t even giving it a real shot were you? You were taking it easy on us.”
She shrugs almost sheepishly. “Sue me. It was just fucking adorable that you all wanted to fight me at once.”
