Boomerangers [boo-muh-rang-ers] noun, informal: an adult that moves back home to live with a parent after a period of independence.

Spencer

I love sex. I love the power, the intimacy, the euphoria it brings. Too bad I’m not having any . . . You’d think as New Orleans’ most renowned sex therapist that I’d be swimming in single men. In a way, I am . . . except for the fact that one is in diapers and the other two are drowning in preteen hormones. As a single mother of three, my days are devoted to my clients and my kids, and my nights are spent with Fabio, my trusty vibrator. When my world begins to unravel, I have no choice but to move back home. And when my high school sweetheart comes waltzing back into my life, comedy and chaos ensue.

What can I say? I never said I could pick ’em, but you can bet your ass I know how to fix ’em.

Cooper

As soon as the ink dried on my divorce papers, I made myself a solemn vow: I was done with relationships. Moving home to take over my father’s firm was the plan, until Spencer decided to return, along with three souvenirs from the life she’s lived without me.

I’ve been in love with the girl next door for nearly all of my life; the rest was spent trying to forget her. I’d give almost anything for a second chance with her, but I have no time for distractions—especially the kind that involve diapers, bottles, and eighteen-year commitments.

The problem is, she’s already got me by the balls . . . and I’m beginning to feel the noose tightening around my heart.

Isolation 162388936
But serenity can’t last forever.

Not long after their arrival, whispers of a shadowy creature stalking the forest begin to spread through the town. The whispers turn to screams when mutilated bodies start appearing. As the death toll rises, fear grips Isolation, threatening to unravel the close-knit community.

Determined to protect their families and uncover the truth, Russell teams up with his neighbors, Tom and Mitchell, and a reclusive town historian, Bryce. Together, they begin unraveling Isolation’s dark and bloody past—a past that holds terrifying secrets about the creature lurking in the woods.

As they dig deeper, the line between history and horror blurs, forcing each man to confront their own inner demons. With the monster’s rampage escalating and time running out, the four friends must face a chilling truth: history remembers.

Isolation is a gripping tale of terror, resilience, and the lengths we go to protect the ones we love—no matter what waits for us in the shadows.]]>

Carnival Of Terror 44307557
Ever want to see what happens after you leave the circus and the show is over? Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes? Have you ever wanted to see the darkest side of human nature? Then step right up, enter, and be prepared to have your breath taken away, literally.

Victor, Jug, the Fortune Teller, Shilo, and Olivia. A horrifying, graphic, and pulse-pounding five-part novel from five different points of view in one interconnecting story surrounding one circus.

Welcome to the Carnival of Terror.]]>
184 William Joseph Laura 5 Going into this I already knew this was a duology with a third book in the making. This added so much to the anticipation as this 228 page story came to an end. You meet Christopher a teenage runaway who becomes mixed up with members of a circus following closely in the footsteps of the ringleader and taking on the new name, “Jug”. Everything and anything is all downhill from there as Jug moves up in the social ladder among the circus members and hierarchy eventually taking the circus over as his own. Later, you meet Shilo, a teenage girl left home alone while her parents venture off for a vacation together. Not all is as it seems when Shilo finds herself cast into the circus as well. What transpires before during and after is a truly magical and gripping experience.
This story had meticulously crafted characters and the world building is next to immaculate in its conception.
If you are a fan of creepy clowns, vigilante justice, the underdogs taking over in more ways than one and a series that will truly have you on your toes from start to finish this is the one for you.

6/5 stars from me and highly looking forward to reading the second and eventually third book in this series]]>

180 David Hardy Laura 5
It’s no secret that I absolutely love David’s writing and he is one of my bestfriends. A day without causing shit with David is something I can no longer even imagine quite frankly so maybe I’m biased but I find that very hard to believe. His writing is absolutely chaotic, brilliant, strategic, entertaining and just all around a riveting experience. The way he packs Easter eggs into his stories you’d think the man is fcking Peter cottontail in the flesh(bag).

This story might take the moldy cake for my favorite book of his and be right up there in my top three of all time along with Mine by Lm Kaplin and Seven Rabbits by Tim King. The way I cursed at this story with pure hatred and aggression for the characters and the plot line only to then develop such an incredible emotional connection to them to just be viscerally gutted and consumed at the ending. I truly don’t know how his brain was wired the way it was but that man can tell a hell of a story like no other.

This story primarily follows Mike and Katie and a slew of others who are completely bananas after being infected with “the Giggles” following a nuclear attack. You learn about their painful pasts that go much deeper than the surface. The two have much more in common than they originally thought and ultimately create a bond that feels eternal. Together they take on the grueling task of survival when the odds are constantly stacked against them. Watch as Katie struggles with an addiction and Mike fights to keep her out of it.

Honestly, I could write an entire novella alone about how incredible this story is, but you’ll have to just read it yourself. Preorder is available now for a March 7th release!]]>

Jared dives into the deepest and most horrific depths of grief and the human psyche with both tact, compassion and well… Grace. What’s more terrifying and compelling than when you’re faced to side between the ones you’ve lost or those you still stand to lose? Beyond the Autumn Leaves is a deeply personal story that will carry with you through all seasons. Love, loss and loneliness create an exceptionally beautiful and horrific dynamic. This story made me cry real physical tears, it made me angry, it made me nervous, it made me laugh… it made me all of the things… and that’s what makes it a stellar story. A book that can evoke such emotions and feelings for the reader is hard to come by and Jared nailed it. A very chilling yet thought provoking read with a color that depicts the story like almost excruciatingly well.

Vindication 220535765 345 William Joseph Laura 5
I have no words to surmount just how magnificent this book was. Author, William Joseph delicately crafted more than just a story with this piece, but a near perfect literary masterpiece likening to those of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe.

The words between these pages are deeply deserving of the highest respect and praise for the arduous yet brilliant nature. Taking on topics such as racism and poverty are very heavy and need to be handled very tenaciously and carefully and William does this with so much compassion and grace. I loved this book with everything in me. I loved the characters and the strong emotions the evoked. Despite being well over 345 pages I would have most certainly loved the story just as much being double if not triple that, I couldn’t get enough of the plot line and wanted more and more of it feeling a sense of grief once I reached the final words.

The story follows a host of different narratives and timelines that seamlessly weave together to create a tale of change and revolution for a town completely segregated and entrenched with hate and racism. When a cataclysmic series of events transpire on the “white side” of town and retaliation is brought to that of the “black side” an unexpected hero hails from the background causing an even larger ripple effect. When James betrays his father to rescue Annabelle a relentless manhunt ensues leaving nothing but despair and destruction in his father’s path. But not for long. James, alongside other heroic members of the black community band together to make a big statement that the racism and inequality in the town of Peddler’s Grove would not be tolerated any further.

I truly wish I could read this book again for the first time. This is a book I will not soon forget. It spans multiple different genres from historical fiction, to romance, thriller and horror creating an all around multi-faceted treasure for anyone to enjoy. ]]>

<![CDATA[Fuck Them Kids: A Collection of Horror Stories]]> 221318115
They appear innocent and loving, but it’s all a facade. The kids in this collection are pure evil. “Fuck Them Kids” takes you on a journey through ten terrifying stories. As you delve into the sick and twisted mind of Timothy King, you’ll encounter possessed teens, ghosts, murderers, and chilling tales of a world full of monstrous little bastards.

]]>
197 Timothy King Laura 5 It would have been an injustice to every single one of these stories had I not honored and credited each of them individually.

Easy 5 stars from me in this short story collection.

Bury Your Demons

“That,” she extended one trembling finger toward the kitchen. “Was not our baby girl. That was something else. Something evil.”

A strong start to this collection demanding the readers attention and grasp. If this story is any inclination of what’s to follow im in for a real treat. This story follows Keith and Susan, parents to 7 year old Charlotte who is now dead. But who is to blame? With the guise of a demon possessing their child what is a scared and isolated parent to do? Well, you’d hope get help… but for these parents that was not the case.

With this story you find yourself having sympathy, and hatred for every single character, a true roller coaster of emotions that I almost didn’t even want to get off.

The Valley of Missing Children

“Charlie raised his tiny hand and pointed at something behind her. “You followed him.” The boy whispered.”

A newly single mother escaping an abusive situation with her battered child in tow stop for some gas. When the mother asks for directions she’s given two options but is strongly advised to take one versus the other. To get to safety sooner, she disregards the advice, a decision that nearly cost herself and her son their lives in the Valley of Missing Children.

Tim has a way of tapping into parental fears in a hauntingly impressive way. This story did not lack in its ability to evoke anxiety and terror for the reader. Next time I ask for directions, I’ll be certain to heed the advice of the locals.

The Town

“There’s nothing to do in towns like this.” He shrugged his shoulders. “Little fucker is probably bored.”

Well … shit … fuck them kids. A group of friends set out for a beach getaway when they come across a seemingly desolate town, come to find out it’s not so desolate after all. The children have taken over and they’re on a he’ll mission to eradicate any and all adults from their town. This was a very unique yet fun read. I kept thinking I knew what was next but per usual I didn’t, I had a ton of fun with this one and the semi mute narrative from the boys added a huge spook factor for me. Could absolutely be elaborated on in the future to create a full book.

The Empty Crib

“Then he heard it. A baby crying in the nursery.”

These stories keep getting better and better. The nature of this story was hard to swallow and digest. I needed to take breaks and reflect and even reached out to Tim regarding how well constructed the story was. The story telling was exceptionally spot on, and only those who have been through certain things will truly understand and grasp the nightmare-esque horrors of this particular story. This one was chilling and brutal as we find 2 young first time parents dealing with returning home from the hospital to start their life over when they return empty handed and broken hearted.

In the House of the Devil

When a demon is quite literally hell bent on seducing the human world and possesses a teenage girl chaos is certain to ensue.

This story was fun, witty, thought provoking and unforgiving. Though typical ghost stories really aren’t my forte, Tim has a way of creating a story beyond just the target tropes. I thoroughly enjoyed this story just as well. The repertoire that Tim is building with this collection is rather impressive for a seemingly “newbie” author.

The Dahlonega Reaper

“Every fiber of his being begged him to kick this creepy little girl into the lake and run back inside.”

When a family vacation to the mountains takes a turn for the worst the entire family is faced with an adventure they never wanted in the fight of their lives.
This one was fun. I could see it playing out in my mind as I read along, feeling the anxiety seeping through each page. A true nightmare of written word and any travelers worst fears.
The descriptions and gore in this one did not hold back and the story was unforgiving and unflinching from the main goal, to truly spook the reader.

Blue Eyes

“Now I look like you, Mommy.”

Okay well that might’ve been the creepiest short of all short stories of ever… Beauty is pain right? But at what… or whose expense??? This story follows that of a mother putting her two daughters to bed for the night when her oldest takes her insecurities into her own hands to become more “beautiful”.
This story was disturbing, and though I knew in my gut what was going to happen I desperately didn’t want it to. Ugh that was a trip.

The Grotto

‘The bigger the sacrifice, the bigger the reward.’

4 boys sneak out into the night in search of a hidden mausoleum where sacrificial offerings were said to be exchanged for the granting of any wish. Unfortunately one boy learns the hard way that friends aren’t always who they seem.
If there’s one thing, (and there are MANY), that Timothy King does exceptionally well it is mastering teenage dialogue. His voice is wonderful and unique among all the characters he writes. From his debut, Seven Rabbits to now with FTK this is a very apparent detail to his writing. Tim takes you directly into the scene with his use of banter and snark between his antagonists. Truly another well written and plotted out story.

The Children’s Garden

“You’re never leaving The Children’s Garden.”

A group of curious explorers looking to create a documentary in a daycare where the unthinkable are faced with … the unthinkable.
This story was incredibly anxiety provoking and had a profound feeling of impending doom through the entire story. Tim’s scene descriptions were immaculate in reproducing the words in the readers mind.

The Man in the Window

“He said he wanted to be my daddy now!”
A widowed father to a young boy faces a serious nightmare when his son claims he sees a man outside his window in the middle of the night.
This was a hell of a way to wrap up the collection. And I won’t let it go unnoticed that my name is in there too, I’ll say it was purposeful to boost my own ego. I’ve said it time and time again with this collection but I truly am left feeling a bit of grief that this was the last story. I devoured this final story and truly enjoyed it as well as the horrific pit it forms in your stomach while reading it]]>

Have you ever read something so amazing that when you finish it’s like you need a moment to grieve that it’s over? You just want more and you’ve become so invested in the story and the authors writing that it feels wrong to be done with it? That’s how this book feels. Timothy King is going to shock the world with his newest release coming out December 25th.
It would have been an injustice to every single one of these stories had I not honored and credited each of them individually.

Carnage Candy 220383245 211 Stuart Bray Laura 5 Rotting Piñata - Dan Shrader

Right out of the gate this anthology greets you with this vile selection. It was like a bad car wreck, you just couldn’t look away and I wish I had. This story will haunt me.
When a happy married couple falls victim to the dark web mukbang-esque fetishes how far will a man go to save his marriage? The answer? You’ll need to find out for yourself.

Mysti’s Delights - Asher Dark

Oh well what the hell… I thought the last one was bad? What the hell is this? I will never look at carnie’s, clowns, circus’ or candy apples the same ever again. With a Joker/Harley Quinn type vibe creating an entirely different back story which is independently enjoyable and a total gross out fest, Asher really outdid herself in this one.

Alien Foreskin - Carietta Dorsche

No. Because what the fuck? I truly didn’t know if I’d finish this one. That was … vile. The only way I can even describe it is if dermatillomamia, cannibalism, and autosexuality morphed together as a curious toddler that touches too many things and puts them in their mouth. I am disturbed in so many ways. I’m glad that’s over.

The Gift of Grief - Nick Scarborough

Holy shit. I absolutely LOVED this story. I was so enveloped in the narrators dialogue I felt like a fly on the wall in the room. The way Nick chose his words and descriptions was stellar. This would make for an incredible full length story or even a movie. Full standing ovation for this one.

Cotton Candy 2 : Tales from Moon City - Stuart Bray

Considering I have been slacking and haven’t yet read Cotton Candy 1, which I will be now, this was a really fun read. I haven’t gotten to read much LGBTQ horror so this was fun. Gay people make everything more fun. I’m sad for Harlem, and for Eddie both who just seem lost in the world. This story felt very “real life” which added to the scare of it.

Grandpa Sherbert - C. Extreme

Well that first page is certainly grim… what the hell? This one was fun. It gave off the vibes of that Netflix show, YOU but in true C Extreme fashion. The way Colin writes is effortless and indulgent, you become so wrapped up in his powerful voice that you can’t break free from the stories he puts on pages. This one is no different.

The Porno Store at the Edge of Town - Matthew Vaughn

“Coolie as could be” got me right off rip. I’m gonna enjoy this one I know it. Oh man, matt what the fuck am I reading? Dirty dog. Matt WHAT THE FUCK? No because not a second of this story was I able to imagine what was going to happen next. I love an unpredictable story. I love that this story didn’t include candy in the same sense as others did. It was a fun palate cleanser and i wholeheartedly enjoyed the humor and uniqueness of this one.

Anything for Candy - Ashley Fox

Gonna start off saying I love the personal touch about pumpkins, knowing Ashley loves carving beautiful and spooky pumpkins really made a nice addition. Holy shit. This one was PHENOMENAL. I can’t say enough how well written this was. This one was a true anxiety giver and jump scare for me. I didn’t even realize until after I finished that I was holding my breath towards the end!

Drink Before the War - Jason Nickey

If that wasn’t the best ending to any story literally ever … especially to end an amazing anthology… this one actually made me tear up. As a mother to two Covid babies this one hit different. Jason has a way with words like no one else I know. This story was so brutal but also so emotionally jarring and that alone creates a very specific type of horror and manifests the fear deep in your soul. ]]>

<![CDATA[For Every 10 Pages You Read, Someone Will Die (The Unnamed Books Book 1)]]> 213217380
Just as investigations into the books were opened, all copies seemingly disappeared without a trace. The detectives involved with the case believed a cult to be involved, preying on those with weak minds although this was never confirmed. Whilst the case was never solved, it was never closed either.

Soon after the appearance of the third book, a terrorist attack wiped out half a city block and took the lives of thousands of commuters - along with causing a huge power surge which rippled through the rest of the town. The man responsible, according to the diary they found in his home, was apparently tired of the cruel world he lived in. No longer wanting to be a part of it, he wanted to take as many of the “bad people” with him. A belief that, in doing so, he’d be playing his role in making the world a better place.

It’s a new day.

The news is nothing but doom and gloom. The terrorist attack in the town, people killing and robbing each other in other cities, wars breaking out overseas and broken economies across the world - it was little wonder Sue needed medication to help with her low moods. Had it not been for the little white drug, prescribed by the doctors, she knew she’d have been “just another” statistic; a broken soul found on the bedroom floor in a puddle of her own vomit with traces of undigested tablets. And on days when she felt as though the pills weren’t quite enough? She liked nothing more than to lock herself away with her Kindle device. Except…

Sue was sitting in her living room with her Kindle in her lap. The tablet should have loaded up to the correct page of her current read and yet it hadn’t. Gone was the story she’d been enjoying for the last week. In its place, a demonic image with the words emblazoned on For Every 10 Pages You Read, Someone Will Die. Not wanting to leave a book unfinished, Sue hit the home button but the page didn’t change. Even resetting the device didn’t bring up her old book, or return her to the main screen showcasing her extensive library. The image remained. With little option, she scrolled forward.

A NOTE ABOUT THIS

As revealed in the synopsis above, before this book there are three books exclusive to hardback. These were only ever released via Matt Shaw’s store and will never be on Kindle. It is important to stress that you DO NOT have to have read these books to enjoy this story. Just as each of those hardback books are standalone tales, this is also its own story set within the same universe. For those who prefer a “complete” picture, there is a recap of the previous three books at the start of this title which comes with the option to skip.

Again, this is a standalone story. You do not need to have read the previous books.]]>

But… The Adventures of Titty Tater and Baby Gravy by Asher Darks and Chisto Healy. (Also both from NC - safe but continue to send good vibes)

Giving this one 4.5 stars.

I wouldn’t necessarily say this was horror so I’m not rating it in terms of scary or gory per se, but in its unique nature and entertaining aspect.

I imagined this book the whole time, even with long gaps between reading I could still imagine what was going on. I would’ve LOVED to see this as an adult graphic novel or comic strip.

It did get a little hard to follow with the sheer number of characters and crazy names / words for things but it also added a huge level of fun and humor to the story for me.

I’ve never read anything quite like this, and I probably never will again. It’s so genuinely unique and the two authors meshed so well together, the writing was amazing and cohesive you couldn’t even tell the handoff between authors and who wrote what, where. That alone deserves its own praise.]]>

Short but INTENSE read. If this is truly the words of Kim Porter this books got some SERIOUS tea being spilled. Holy cow. I couldn’t stop reading, page after page and I just became more and more shocked. Admittedly it is poor editing and grammar at times but that’s to be expected if it’s a personal memoir and she was sending it via email with no real editor just trying to get it out before she passed. I am floored. This timing is impeccable.

They won't keep me forever.
I no longer recognize the person I've become,
And I'm fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night.
They call me a diamond,
But they've only created an angel of death.

The Hunter

I was born a predator,
With ruthlessness ingrained in my bones.
When what's mine is stolen from me in the night,
Like a diamond hidden within a fortress,
I find that I can no longer contain the beast.
Blood will paint the ground as I tear apart this world to find her.
And bring her back to where she belongs.
No one will escape my wrath,
Especially not those who have betrayed me.

Fate Forever and Always 216865413
CALLIE

Callie Diaz has never had one thing go wrong in her entire life—well, aside from her dad walking out on her and her mom when she was ten years old. However, Callie has always viewed that as a blessing in disguise.

Her life plan was set from a very young age, and she was executing it perfectly. In school, she got good grades, attended college with her best friends, got a job teaching piano, and thought she’d found the love of her life. Callie’s life was full. From the outside looking in, anyway.

The last thing she expected was for it all to come to a screeching halt two weeks before her wedding. She was suddenly faced with navigating heartbreak for the first time. On top of everything, she also had to face the feelings she had been repressing for her best friend over the last six years.

Now, all she had to do was figure out if these feelings were genuine or if she was simply lonely.

NICK

Nicholas Clark thought his life would be ruined forever when he was forced to leave his friends and the only place he had ever called home. That was until he met Callista Adriana Diaz. She lit up his world in ways he couldn’t have imagined, and she didn’t even know it.

His feelings for her were intense from the start despite being friend-zoned immediately. The day he finally got the nerve to admit he wanted to be more than friends, she announced a new relationship with someone else. When he realized Callie was in that relationship for the long haul, Nick reluctantly let go of any hope and accepted that was the end. He buried his feelings and watched her fall in love with someone else.

His hope was restored when Callie turned to him for help putting her life back together. He was obviously upset about his best friend’s heartache, but the hope he’d let die was sparked once more for the possibility of a future with Callie.

Will he have the courage to admit his feelings to Callie and finally get the life he's always wanted, or will his admission mess everything up?

Which will win, a vengeful ex or a blooming relationship with a little help from fate?]]>

<![CDATA[It Ain't No Fun, When The Rabbit Got The Gun]]> 215697270 153 Nick Scarbrough Laura 5 I absolutely loved this book by Nick. There are so many different times I sat back gobsmacked because of how accurately he depicted developmental delay (Mom of 2 autistic kiddos) and how scarily similar my oldest son is to Arliss at different points.

The story follows Arliss a young man who has really had it rough throughout his life. He doesn’t know the first thing about societal norms and expectations. What Arliss does know, is when he loses his only form of love and guidance when his father passes in a TRAGIC hunting accident, his life is flipped upside down. Arliss is left to fend for himself and fighting to survive merely alone in a world he knows nothing about. Losing his father was the straw that broke the camel’s back if you will for him and he sets out to rectify the loss however he sees fit. In true splatterpunk fashion this comes at a gory and disastrous cost.

The fluidity in the writing made it incredibly easy for me to visualize what was happening from scene to scene. Never once was I left feeling like the story was flat or missing something. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every page of this book and I highly recommend it if you need a little bit of gore, humor, wit and a bit of sadness that all pack their own individual punches for a knockout debut. ]]>

Desperate times call for desperate measures…
I absolutely loved this book by Nick. There are so many different times I sat back gobsmacked because of how accurately he depicted developmental delay (Mom of 2 autistic kiddos) and how scarily similar my oldest son is to Arliss at different points.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this story. I couldn’t get enough of Asher’s writing style and the unique plot line of this story. I fell in love with Bast and Nina. I loved their names, I loved their story, I loved their character development and vibes.

The story primarily follows Nina, a girl with an unfortunate past and who’s seemingly been given the short end of the stick in life. Nina, who had more or less given up on any hope for happiness meets Bast, an immaculately gorgeous man who seems too good to be true. After a year together, Bast invites Nina to meet his only remaining living family and those he considers family at a dinner party. But it’s not just any party. There are major secrets and deceptions and devilish plans. Who will survive? Will the love between Bast and Nina be enough to survive the ultimate betrayal?

Asher Dark has a hell of a way with words. You can basically see her passion for this story and for writing dripping from the pages. The little Easter eggs she’s hidden within the book are amazing too. The ending threw me for a completely unexpected spin but I understand and appreciate why it happened how it did.]]>

For starters this is not horror, this is not smut, this is not dark romance … this is an all out weirdly fetishized erotica. The authors trigger warning of CSA hardly scrapes the surface. If you can read beyond the first chapter and believe this is even remotely okay, and not realize the wildly repugnant nature of this book then I am concerned.

This novella from Jason Nickey follows Jack, the son of a seasoned serial killer as he grows up. At a young age, Jack unexpectedly uncovers his father’s big secret hidden in the cabin behind his woods. What starts out as curiosity, quickly turns into fascination and then obsession rather than feelings of fear and betrayal. Jack takes on a more active role in his father’s extra curricular activities but will vulnerability and becoming carelessly comfortable in this lifestyle take a toll on the duo?

This book had me hooked all along. It’s a short read but leaves nothing to the imagination. This book is flooded with triggers and the shock value is certainly prevalent. 5 stars easily. The writing flows so well and leaves you craving more, I highly recommend this one. ]]>

Blender Babies 123912984 'The Craze.'

No one saw it coming. It started with isolated reports of people kidnapping babies and blending them to drink their ‘essence’—a highly potent and highly addictive chemical compound found in infants. The phenomenon spread through social media, infecting other addicts. Cases of kidnapping and murder—femicide and infanticide—skyrocketed, leading to governments around the world to issue state of emergencies and strict shelter-at-home orders.

But it was too late.

Society had collapsed into itself.

Now, Brian Turner finds himself trapped in a police station with his family—his wife Leslie, his five-year-old son Cameron, and his newborn daughter Harper—and a group of shellshocked survivors. With their supplies running low and a horde of baby-fiends waiting to strike outside, he must find a way to protect his family and search for a new home away from the carnage and madness.

Jon Athan, the author of The Groomer and Lovesick, presents a disturbing post-apocalyptic vision unlike anything he’s written before. Can you survive the Craze?

Triggered 210682959
Rick Richardson was a writer. He was good, too, despite what the reviews might've said. They said his writing was bad, but Rick knew that wasn't true. He knew the real reason they didn't like his books was because of the content. You see, Rick wrote "splatterpunk" ... it was understandable that people might be triggered by the graphic nature of his stories. But then, that's what the trigger warnings were for.

Also, they kept saying writers should only "write what they know". But Rick didn't know anything about real horror...

Well, maybe it was about time he found out.

"The funniest and goriest book I've read this year!" - Judith Sonnet, author of No One Rides For Free

"Not only a shock to the senses, but a relatable nightmare for authors of Splatterpunk and extreme horror. I found myself relating to the main character almost instantly. Great pacing and relatable characters make's this one a must-read. If you're easily 'triggered', buckle up and enjoy the ride." - Stuart Bray, author of Violence on the Meek

"...one of the best books I've read this year ... unrelenting in its brutality and depravity ... gross and hilarious in equal measure ... I can't recommend this enough!" - Mique Watson, author of Broken Dolls]]>

One thing after another was just worse and worse. After reading both books 1 and 2 of this duo I definitely preferred the first book, it had more of a story line. This book was more of violence just for the hell of it and felt like it dragged on at times. But all in all it serves its purpose as an absolute extreme and limit pushing book. Definitely NOT for the faint of heart.

No One Rides For Free 62343413 Uninvited, unwanted, and unhinged...
The Man has no name, but he does have a gun... a knife... and a bag of "toys".
What starts as a forced ride into the desert escalates into a disturbing series of crimes and assaults.
Jodi and her children will soon pray for death.

AFTER YOU READ THIS BOOK ... BE SURE TO READ THE SEQUEL! NO ONE RIDES FOR FREE (ABSOLUTE CHAOS), CO-AUTHORED WITH OTIS BATEMAN!

This novella is incredibly disturbing. It features graphic scenes of sexual violence, torture, and gore. It is not intended for easily offended readers. The print edition of this book includes an exclusive short story, which is not availble on ebook. It is also gross and disturbing.]]>

Well shit. Literally and figuratively. I really thought this book wasn’t going to live up to the hype, up until the halfway point I was underwhelmed and confused where everyone was so shell shocked. I vastly underestimated the second half of this book and I stand VERY corrected. Judith Sonnett took the second half of this book and left nothing whatsoever to the imagination. Gore, guts, gags, you name it, it was there. I will say it did feel a bit rushed but as explained in the end of the book she did write this book in 10 days which holy hell is an accomplishment in and of itself. If you want extreme look no further than No One Rides For Free. I am seriously looking forward to the release of book 2.

<![CDATA[Seven Days to Die (DI Jack MacIntosh #1)]]> 64601437 Please note this book is a completely revised version of Seven Days.

A brutal killer who strangles young women and leaves their bodies strewn across London’s parks. A killer who leaves his next victim’s shoe beside the body of his last one. Detective Jack MacIntosh has seven days to find the truth.

A young woman’s body is discovered in Hyde Park. Wearing only one shoe.

Close to the body, Detective Jack MacIntosh finds a black stiletto, diamante buckle glinting in the early morning sun. But it doesn’t belong to the victim.

Two days later, another young woman is found strangled to death in nearby Green Park. Wearing just one shoe — the matching stiletto. Hidden in the long grass beside the body, the police uncover a low-heeled court shoe.

Detective Jack and his team are in a race against time to find the owner of the court shoe before it’s far, far too late.

At the same time, Jack is fighting demons of his own. Demons which rise up from the past and threaten to cloud his judgement just when he needs it most.

Detective Jack is hunting a brutal killer. A killer who delights in playing cat-and-mouse games. Who will win this deadly battle of wits?]]>

This book is both beautifully smutty and disturbingly horrific. In true Caummisar fashion I was SHOCKED. Of all the horror I’ve read this book took disgustingly brilliant and clever torture methods to another level that I haven’t read anywhere else. That alone deserves plenty of props. I had to put this book down at one point to regain my composure.

Although this book was incredibly sad and unfortunate, it did not live up to the hype for me. This book took me 9 days to get through when another book this size would typically take me about 3 or 4. It just seemed to drag on really long and at a few points I did consider DNF’ing. I’m glad I didn’t because it was important to get this story out there I just feel like it was way too lengthy. However that is also the nature of the beast for this book. It’s gritty, raw, heartbreaking and real. You need all the long winded details to feel the full effect of the story. I guess I’m mixed with both sides of the coin on this one. So with that being said; 3 stars.

This was an absolutely wild ride. I have never read a book like this and it was thoroughly entertaining for me. It was a huge puzzle how each of the patients have their own individual story however they all tie into one another as well. Especially at the end. The way the stories intermingle; the web of characters and plot lines it’s amazing. The smoke and mirrors of literally every single character in this story had me at the edge of my seat and furiously flipping through the pages. I was left speechless so many times in this book and I can’t even fathom what the next 2 books will have in store for me. My only downside for this book is I’m a bit confused at who patient #220 actually *is* and maybe that’s the whole point. The book leaves off with a brilliant cliffhanger that leaves you NEEDING to read the next book.

Such a genuinely accurate depiction in how this book is written and the subject matter it covers. You can tell the author really cared about this topic and it was a very personal piece of writing for whatever reason. It’s not just something someone decided to write with no knowledge. Very triggering but also incredibly beautiful and soulful and the reclaiming of who the FMC is at the end was incredible.

151 Sea Caummisar Laura 4 heartbreaking but I couldn’t put it down

This book was utterly heartbreaking, as a mother to a 4 year old child I couldn’t imagine putting him, or any child through what Deicide goes though in this book. And god forbid anyone do anything like this to my babies it would be the end of the world. It’s so bittersweet seeing her naïveté and innocence with how much she still loves those around her despite their cruelty. I’m excited to see where her story goes in the rest of this series, will she become an even more active roll alongside her father and grandmother or will she stand down at her own cost? I could see both.
My only complaint would be that sometimes the narrative gets convoluted in which POV you are reading from as Deicide and the narrater will switch multiple times in one page at some parts. Otherwise a great quick read. Forever sad for tickles though ]]>

The writing style used in this story was definitely unique, I liked the dual perspectives and it certainly kept me hooked. Some minor grammar and wording errors were distracting at times but it didn’t take away from the story.

This books is chilling and definitely covers some sensitive topics. I for one was certainly uncomfortable at many points reading and had to keep my boundary between fiction and reality in check. This book was spooky and definitely good as a beginner horror story. It is rather short which was unfortunate because this book could’ve been much longer and made for a much darker and more grim story. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending, the clowns themselves made the book scary enough, the paranormal aspect just felt a little out of place for me. I did enjoy this book as a whole however and I’m certainly glad I was able to read this and I got through it really quickly which was nice also. There were a lot of characters to try and juggle which could ultimately be a struggle for some people but it flowed nicely and the story progressed without any major faults. ]]>

Book 3 wasn’t nearly as brutal or deranged as book 1 but it was cute, in a freakish, demented way. Travis is OBSESSED with Paul Homolka (VOTM 1), maybe even more so obsessed than he can muster up the courage for. Travis however has his own obsessor, Sherry, who Travis sees as nothing more than a worthless cow taking up space and oxygen on this planet only fit for himself and Paul. Travis is the epitome of “meek” and devises plot after plot to rewrite that narrative. Multiple senseless killings and close calls later Travis ultimately succumbs to his own misfortune and lack of willpower.

To say I’m sad it’s over would be an understatement. This follow up book to All the Rage delivered in more ways than I was expecting. I felt all the feels, from disgust to sadness, fear to anger and joy, I felt them all. The middle of the book took a slight turn that wasn’t completely necessary and felt a little random but all together as a whole the book was great and I am so glad I got to hear more of Ashlee and Nathan’s stories. I wish Jake had a better outcome but I can’t necessarily say I’m surprised. Thank you David Hardy for yet another incredible book!

This book was a harmonious blend of sacrilegious revenge, DARK humor and just plain abhorrent gore in the most Stuart Bray fashion.

The book follows Lucas King on a hell mission to seek revenge on humanity, most notably Father Credo, a crooked priest from his childhood while toting his little brother along for the ride. What you think you’ve figured out about King, his past and the vengeance he plans to avenge on anyone who crosses his path, you are wrong. Follow Lucas as he aspires to raise his crime statistics exponentially and see where his mind becomes his biggest enemy and downfall.

The twists this book takes in the second half will have your jaw begging to be wired shut, your brain matter splattered in pure disbelief and quite possibly your last meal spewn across the floor. The shock factor in this book is readily available for you to absorb on nearly every single page. I devoured this book and I’m left licking my chops for more.]]>

I absolutely loved this one by Stuart. The line between gore and comedy is continuously pushed throughout the narrative. I found myself to absolutely love Paul as a character and the way his mind worked. I wish the story hadn’t aged as quickly, I would’ve loved to see more of Mary-Ann’s development as a character but that’s just me loving the inner workings of broken minds, it has no real effect on the story as a whole. This book easily could’ve gone longer and I wouldn’t have been upset one bit. The prologue and epilogue were genius for the sake of the story. Definitely recommend this one as a must read in the splatter genre.

Aaron Olson Laura 4 I came across Aaron and this book on TikTok and I was very intrigued by the thought of a conversation based, dramatic rendition of a book. It seemed like the perfect October vibe and it absolutely was. Through the pages you see the MMC Thomas Grady becoming progressively more mentally ill, deranged, paranoid even which ultimately becomes his demise. The book held multiple POV’s and various timelines which made it both challenging and fun to try and keep up with. As a reader I was drawn in, feeling the anxiety and angst surfacing and I was completely immersed in this storyline wondering and internally debating what would happen next.

Definitely an easier, lighter read for those looking for light horror or a suspenseful, psychologically motivated thriller. This novella easily could’ve been carried out longer and been made into a full length novel or even movie. ]]>

The Groomer 50534870 This book contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.]]> 346 Jon Athan Laura 4 Fast paced, brutal and heartbreaking

As a mother to two young children I genuinely did not think I was going to make it through this book. As a bonus mom to another toddler and a 10 year old, I was mortified. The first 3 chapters had me feeling sick, a feeling that did not go away through the remainder of the story. I have read a lot of splatterpunk and extreme horror. Nothing has phased me the way this book did. I lost sleep, I held my babies tighter, I begged my mom friends to read this book. The sheer amount of fear and anxiety this book instilled within me will be ingrained in my mind long after I submit this review. Most splatterpunk stories are so out of left field and unbelievable, but the words Jon Athan put on these pages, are real life. And that’s the truly horrific nature of this book. The only reason this book did not receive 5 stars from me; though I do give it 4.5, is because I felt like Andrew was lacking. He knew all along in his soul who took his daughter. It pained me as each page passed that he wasn’t connecting the puzzle that was so simple to solve. Find Zachary, find Grace. But that’s the point of the book, if it were that easy, there wouldn’t be a story. There is no happy ending for these families, in the story, or real life. So it’s only fair and appropriate that there is no happy ending to this story either. I’m just bitter that there wasn’t. All in all, a riveting, gut wrenching story. Hard to stomach, hard to grasp, hard to conceptualize. But if you’re looking for extreme, and brutal, and you can handle all of your trigger warnings, here is the book for you folks. Now excuse me while I go hold my children, withdraw them from school, and delete all online gaming from our lives. ]]>

Stuart Bray couldn’t have ended this trilogy more perfectly in my best dreams. He tied everything up so nicely and placed a big bloody bow right on top. The beginning was a little confusing but once you get a grasp of who’s who and what’s what everything flows beautifully and seamlessly. An absolutely incredible job well done.

Zola 59537277
It was given to him by Anthony Zola, a controlling, and abusive father, to taunt his wife over her love of cheese, and the fact that she had been steadily gaining weight since their marriage.

Andrea was a doting mother, and maybe a little overprotective of her boy, but she didn't see that as a bad thing.

On discovering a secret, one the child had been told to keep to himself, everything changes. Now she must do whatever she needs to keep her, and her boy, alive.

Needs must.

Gordon is going to find that his love of cheese, handed down to him by his mother, and his love for the only woman in his life, is about to be taken to a whole new level.

From the dark mind of D E McCluskey, author of The Twelve, CRACK, and Cravings, Comes another addition to his limited 'Extreme Horror Series'.

Zola is about to take you into a whole new level darkness, and depravity.

"The perfect combination of extreme horror and heartfelt emotion." - R E Shambrook

"Truly, a book of absolute depravity... but with heart." - Christina Pfeiffer]]>

Nauseating, unforgivable and unforgettable. Dave does it again with another absolutely retched novella. A quick read that will leave your skin crawling well after you’ve finished the book. How far is this mom willing to go to satiate her pregnancy cravings and provide for the life inside of her? You’ll have to read to find out, that is if you can stomach it. From cover to cover this book is a series of filth that just gets more and more disgusting as the story progresses. It’s been over a month since I finished this book and I am still haunted when I see it staring back at me dauntingly.

This book confused the hell out of me but kept me turning the pages all the same. It is pivotal to read Broken Pieces of June before this one. June really steps into a larger role in this story. It gets hard to follow but the macabre events are addictive in true splatterpunk fashion as always. Kudos again to Stuart Bray on another spine chilling, mind bending story. Amazing way to end the month of September!

If you want a vile, unspeakable, macabre gorefest straight from the pits of hell that somehow apparently live rent free in the mind of Stuart Bray, Broken Pieces of June is exactly the book you need. Although it’s a shorter story, it will not be short lived within you. The things described in this book, the events that take place, the absolute maniacal nature of this book, they will stick with you and they will haunt you. Never has a book given me nightmares until this one. As others have said, this book takes into account every single trigger warning you could possibly even think of and somehow makes them feel unequivocal to the gruesome shit that is unveiled between these pages. Stuart Bray set out on a hell mission with this book and he absolutely achieved it with the highest regards possible. This takes splatterpunk to a whole deeper level.

Delicious Monsters 154838223 The Haunting of Hill House meets Sadie in this evocative and mind-bending psychological thriller following two teen girls navigating the treacherous past of a mysterious mansion ten years apart.

Daisy sees dead people—something impossible to forget in bustling, ghost-packed Toronto. She usually manages to deal with her unwanted ability, but she’s completely unprepared to be dumped by her boyfriend. So when her mother inherits a secluded mansion in northern Ontario where she spent her childhood summers, Daisy jumps at the chance to escape. But the house is nothing like Daisy expects, and she begins to realize that her experience with the supernatural might be no match for her mother’s secrets, nor what lurks within these walls…

A decade later, Brittney is desperate to get out from under the thumb of her abusive mother, a bestselling author who claims her stay at “Miracle Mansion” allowed her to see the error of her ways. But Brittney knows that’s nothing but a sham. She decides the new season of her popular Haunted web series will uncover what happened to a young Black girl in the mansion ten years prior and finally expose her mother’s lies. But as she gets more wrapped up in the investigation, she’ll have to decide: if she can only bring one story to light, which one matters most—Daisy’s or her own?

As Brittney investigates the mansion in the present, Daisy’s story runs parallel in the past, both timelines propelling the girls to face the most dangerous monsters of all: those that hide in plain sight.]]>

Our future? It’s worth fighting for.
Or it was before the accident.

The accident stole Phoenix from me. Now, he’s nice… kind even. But the memory of me—of our baby—is gone. Despite everything, I’m left fighting for our child and the man I’ve come to love.

How much will I have to sacrifice to bring him back? What happens when secrets buried deep in the past burst into the present? Do we have a chance? Or is it inevitable that history repeats itself and we’re forced to go our separate ways?

Cruel Love is an enemies-to-lovers, fake relationship, new adult, sports romance with pregnancy, plenty of angst, heat, and a HEA. This is the conclusion of Cruel Hate, and Aspen and Phoenix’s duet. This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing.]]>

<![CDATA[Case of the Bleus (Cheese Shop Mystery, #4)]]> 65212836 What in the bleu blazes is happening in Yarrow Glen now?

Cheesemongers from across the Northwest have come to the Sonoma Valley for the Northwest Cheese Invitational. As owner of the local cheese shop, Curds & Whey, Willa Bauer loves it. The event showcases custom cheese creations, and it’s the perfect time to gather with old colleagues to honor her former boss, the late and grate cheese legend, Max Dumas. He was famous for journeying into the wild bleu yonder to where he aged his award-winning custom Church Bleu. Only Max knew the recipe and location to his beloved cheese, and many are eager to have these revealed at his will reading.

But instead of naming someone to inherit his cheese and its secrets, Max stuns everyone with one cryptic clue. When a fellow cheesemonger dies under mysterious circumstances––the woman they all thought would get the secrets to Max's prized possession––everyone falls under suspicion. Willa adores Church Bleu as much as the next cheese connoisseur, but it’s not to die for. Is a killer trying to get away with murder...and the cheese?]]>

The unwelcome return of the town’s former bad boy, Brendan Scholes, threatens to ignite the sibling rivalry further. Scholes claims to have found the long-lost secret recipe to the beer that made Richard and Emily’s father famous, and he wants money.

But it isn’t long before Scholes’ body is found floating in a fermentation tank at one of the breweries, his head caved in by a hammer. DCI Oldroyd and Andy Carter are called in to investigate the murder, and there’s no shortage of suspects.

As rumours of the possible existence of a recipe for the famous beer spread against a backdrop of growing homophobia and misogyny, tempers run high. With Markham’s beer industry at stake, a killer on the loose and the town’s residents out for blood, Oldroyd needs to solve the murder before someone else is killed…]]>
