A good overview of Dutch-Americans with a focus on pre-20th century colonization, immigration, and religion. More attention is paid to Dutch immigrants than to Dutch-Americans, and famous D-As - including Martin van Buren, the Roosevelts, and Cornelius Vanderbilt - receive only a paragraph at the very end rather than during the relevant time period discussed earlier in the book. He also glosses over Indian relations (one sentence mentions attacks but not why or how frequently), and slavery is only mentioned in the context of abolitionists.
