This decade old fifty cent yard sale find panned out! This is a good introduction to Roman history and is better than most textbooks. Africa is not afraid to share his opinions and I would recommend this to anyone who (like me) knew next to nothing about ancient Rome.

It's a textbook, can be a bit boring. But still, if you want a comprehensive overview of the Roman Republic and Empire, or a good source to look up a particular emperor or city or event, this is a good place to start.
